Comparison of Landsat digital classifications from two dates has met with limited success for change detection in urban environments. The capabilities of digital enhancements for displaying change were therefore investigated as an alternative procedure for this task. Three different color enhancements, an overlay of band 5, ratios of bands 5 and 7, and a vegetation index, were generated using 1974 and 1978 Landsat data of Hamilton, Ontario. The ratios only emphasize major changes. The band 5 overlay shows change most clearly, but the vegetation index enhancement is almost as good and in addition to showing change also emphasizes the urban boundary and the major road network. It is suggested that change enhancements could be used effectively by agencies responsible for monitoring urban development over large areas.  相似文献

A detailed analysis of microchannel/microgap heat transfer data for two-phase flow of refrigerants and dielectric liquids, gathered from the open literature and sorted by the Taitel and Dukler flow regime mapping methodology, is performed. Annular flow is found to be the dominant regime for this thermal transport configuration and to grow in importance with decreasing channel diameter. A characteristic M-shaped heat transfer coefficient variation with quality (or superficial velocity) for the flow of refrigerants and dielectric liquids in miniature channels is identified. The inflection points in this M-shaped curve are seen to equate approximately with flow regime transitions, including a first maximum at the transition from Bubble to Intermittent flow and a second maximum at moderate qualities in Annular flow, just before local dryout begins. The predictive accuracy of five classical two-phase heat transfer correlations for miniature channel flow is examined. Selecting the best fitting of the classical correlations for each of the flow regime categories is seen to yield predictive agreement with regime-sorted heat transfer coefficients that does not depart significantly from the agreement found in large pipes and channels.  相似文献

Subcritical crack growth in terms of velocity–stress intensity factor ( v – K ) curves in lead zirconate titanate (PZT) were experimentally characterized on poled and unpoled compact tension specimens. The poled specimens were tested under open- and short-circuit electrical boundary conditions, which resulted in an increase in fracture toughness by 0.2 MPa·m1/2 for the accessible velocity range ( v = 10−9 to 10−4 m/s) in the open-circuit case. Subcritical crack growth of unpoled specimens was obtained under ambient (relative humidity = 35%) and dry (relative humidity ∼ 0.02%) conditions over a regime in stress intensity factor of 0.5 MPa·m1/2.  相似文献

We study the issue of whether the wind load factors specified in the ASCE 7–95 Standard for hurricane- prone regions on the one hand and extratropical storm regions on the other are mutually consistent with respect to risk. We consider structures or elements whose design is governed by wind loads and for which wind directionality effects are not significant. We present estimates according to which ASCE 7–95 Standard provisions for wind loads inducing the design strength result in (1) safety levels that are considerably lower for hurricane-prone than for extratropical storm regions, and (2) estimates of mean recurrence intervals of hurricane wind loads inducing the design strength of about 500 y if epistemic uncertainties are neglected, and significantly lower than 500 years otherwise.  相似文献

Novel polyurethane cationomers bearing p-nitroazoaromatic groups covalently incorporated in the polymer chain were synthesized. Their photobehavior in polymer films and solutions was investigated by electronic absorption spectroscopy and was also evaluated comparatively with an ionic azodiol model. Under UV irradiation, in the first stage of the photoprocess the trans-cis isomerization occurs, followed then by a photobleaching reaction in the second stage of the process.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of two methods employed to determine the methyl ester (ME) fraction in mixed fuels prepared from MEs of higher fatty acids and fossil Diesel fuel. The first method is based on determining the ester number of the mixed fuel. The second one utilises the measurement of the carbonyl band intensity in the mixed fuel by infrared (IR) spectroscopy. The ME fraction in the tested mixed fuels was always set to 30 wt‐%. Applying the first method the ester numbers of mixed fuels were determined and the ME fraction was defined using an averaged molar mass of ME. The differences between the values of the measured and real fraction of ME varied between −0.2 and +0.8 wt‐%. If the value of the average molar mass of ME was not known, the molar mass of methyl oleate was used as a reference. Thereby the differences in determining the ME fraction in mixed fuels ranged between −0.1 and +0.9 wt‐%. Employing the IR spectroscopy method the differences between the measured and the real fraction of ME varied between −1.0 and +0.5 wt‐%. Both methods are suitable to determine the ME fraction in mixed fuels.  相似文献

The effects of Bi and In additions on intermetallic phase formation in lead-free solder joints of Sn-3.7Ag-0.7Cu; Sn-1.0Ag-0.5Cu-1.0Bi and Sn-1.5Ag-0.7Cu-9.5In (composition given in weight %) with copper substrate are studied. Soldering of copper plate was conducted at 250 °C for 5 s. The joints were subsequently aged at temperatures of 130-170 °C for 2-16 days in a convection oven. The aged interfaces were analyzed by optical microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) microanalysis. Two intermetallic layers are observed at the interface - Cu3Sn and Cu6Sn5. Cu6Sn5 is formed during soldering. Cu3Sn is formed during solid state ageing. Bi and In decrease the growth rate of Cu3Sn since they appear to inhibit tin diffusion through the grain boundaries. Furthermore, indium was found to produce a new phase - Cu6(Sn,In)5 instead of Cu6Sn5, with a higher rate constant. The mechanism of the Cu6(Sn,In)5 layer growth is discussed and the conclusions for the optimal solder chemical composition are presented.  相似文献

Recent results on catalytic wet air oxidation applied to a membrane contactor are presented that give new insight following a series of previous publications. Model and industrial effluents are treated in both single tube and multichannel catalytic systems. Characterisation of the catalytic material (solid analyses, electron microscopy, EDS and EPMA) is carried out, in order to determine the catalyst distribution. Catalytic results show performances heavily dependent on the nature of the effluent and the operating conditions, and to a lesser extent on the catalytic membrane characteristics. At 80 °C, an industrial effluent is oxidised at a membrane surface related rate of 3.8 mmol/s/m2. This result is achieved using a membrane containing about 0.1 wt.% Pt. This allows a revised and improved technico-economical evaluation of the Watercatox process.  相似文献
