A community within a graph can be broadly defined as a set of vertices that exhibit high cohesiveness (relatively high number of edges within the set) and low conductance (relatively low number of edges leaving the set). Community detection is a fundamental graph processing analytic that can be applied to several application domains, including social networks. In this context, communities are often overlapping, as a person can be involved in more than one community (e.g., friends, and family); and evolving, since the structure of the network changes. We address the problem of streaming overlapping community detection, where the goal is to maintain communities in the presence of streaming updates. This way, the communities can be updated more efficiently. To this end, we introduce SONIC—a find-and-merge type of community detection algorithm that can efficiently handle streaming updates. SONIC first detects when graph updates yield significant community changes. Upon the detection, it updates the communities via an incremental merge procedure. The SONIC algorithm incorporates two additional techniques to speed-up the incremental merge; min-hashing and inverted indexes. Results show that SONIC can provide high quality overlapping communities, while handling streaming updates several orders of magnitude faster than the alternatives performing from-scratch computation. 相似文献

For the last four decades Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) have been extensively used for military operations that include tracking, surveillance, active engagement with weapons and airborne data acquisition. UAVs are also in demand commercially due to their advantages in comparison to manned vehicles. These advantages include lower manufacturing and operating costs, flexibility in configuration depending on customer request and not risking the pilot on demanding missions. Even though civilian UAVs currently constitute 3 % of the UAV market, it is estimated that their numbers will reach up to 10 % of the UAV market within the next 5 years. Most of the civilian UAV applications require UAVs that are capable of doing a wide range of different and complementary operations within a composite mission. These operations include taking off and landing from limited runway space, while traversing the operation region in considerable cruise speed for mobile tracking applications. This is in addition to being able traverse in low cruise speeds or being able to hover for stationary measurement and tracking. All of these complementary and but different operational capabilities point to a hybrid unmanned vehicle concept, namely the Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) UAVs. In addition, the desired UAV system needs to be cost-efficient while providing easy payload conversion for different civilian applications. In this paper, we review the preliminary design process of such a capable civilian UAV system, namely the TURAC VTOL UAV. TURAC UAV is aimed to have both vertical take-off and landing and Conventional Take-off and Landing (CTOL) capability. TURAC interchangeable payload pod and detachable wing (with potential different size variants) provides capability to perform different mission types, including long endurance and high cruise speed operations. In addition, the TURAC concept is to have two different variants. The TURAC A variant is an eco-friendly and low-noise fully electrical platform which includes 2 tilt electric motors in the front, and a fixed electric motor and ducted fan in the rear, where as the TURAC B variant is envisioned to use high energy density fuel cells for extended hovering time. In this paper, we provide the TURAC UAV’s iterative design and trade-off studies which also include detailed aerodynamic and structural configuration analysis. For the aerodynamic analysis, an in-house software including graphical user interface has been developed to calculate the aerodynamic forces and moments by using the Vortex Lattice Method (VLM). Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies are performed to determine the aerodynamic effects for various configurations For structural analysis, a Finite Element Model (FEM) of the TURAC has been prepared and its modal analysis is carried out. Maximum displacements and maximal principal stresses are calculated and used for streamlining a weight efficient fuselage design. Prototypes have been built to show success of the design at both hover and forward flight regime. In this paper, we also provide the flight management and autopilot architecture of the TURAC. The testing of the controller performance has been initiated with the prototype of TURAC. Current work focuses on the building of the full fight test prototype of the TURAC UAV and aerodynamic modeling of the transition flight. 相似文献

We describe the reconstruction of a phylogeny for a set of taxa, with a character-based cladistics approach, in a declarative
knowledge representation formalism, and show how to use computational methods of answer set programming to generate conjectures
about the evolution of the given taxa. We have applied this computational method in two domains: historical analysis of languages
and historical analysis of parasite-host systems. In particular, using this method, we have computed some plausible phylogenies
for Chinese dialects, for Indo-European language groups, and for Alcataenia species. Some of these plausible phylogenies are different from the ones computed by other software. Using this method, we
can easily describe domain-specific information (e.g., temporal and geographical constraints), and thus prevent the reconstruction
of some phylogenies that are not plausible.

Reconstructing high dynamic range (HDR) images of a complex scene involving moving objects and dynamic backgrounds is prone to artifacts. A large number of methods have been proposed that attempt to alleviate these artifacts, known as HDR deghosting algorithms. Currently, the quality of these algorithms are judged by subjective evaluations, which are tedious to conduct and get quickly outdated as new algorithms are proposed on a rapid basis. In this paper, we propose an objective metric which aims to simplify this process. Our metric takes a stack of input exposures and the deghosting result and produces a set of artifact maps for different types of artifacts. These artifact maps can be combined to yield a single quality score. We performed a subjective experiment involving 52 subjects and 16 different scenes to validate the agreement of our quality scores with subjective judgements and observed a concordance of almost 80%. Our metric also enables a novel application that we call as hybrid deghosting, in which the output of different deghosting algorithms are combined to obtain a superior deghosting result. 相似文献

Designing efficient and integrated manufacturing systems is the first step in attaining computer integrated enterprises (CIE). Integration of planning and implementation phases of manufacturing is essential for taking full advantage of the CIE. In order to design reliable and efficient manufacturing systems, the designers must consider the impacts of planning decisions made by computer aided production management (CAPM) modules on implementations held in manufacturing cells.
This paper focuses on two issues. The first issue is importance and necessity of integrating CAPM modules with manufacturing cells. This study presents forecast of highway casualties in Turkey using nonlinear multiple regression (NLMR) and artificial neural network (ANN) approaches. Also, the effect of railway development on highway safety using ANN models was evaluated. Two separate NLMR and ANN models for forecasting the number of accidents (A) and injuries (I) were developed using 27 years of historical data (1980–2006). The first 23 years data were used for training, while the remaining data were utilized for testing. The model parameters include gross national product per capita (GNP-C), numbers of vehicles per thousand people (V-TP), and percentage of highways, railways, and airways usages (TSUP-H, TSUP-R, and TSUP-A, respectively). In the ANN models development, the sigmoid and linear activation functions were employed with feed-forward back propagation algorithm. The performances of the developed NLMR and ANN models were evaluated by means of error measurements including mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), mean absolute error (MAE), root mean square error (RMSE), and coefficient of determination (R 2). ANN models were used for future estimates because NLMR models produced unreasonably decreasing projections. The number of road accidents and as well as injuries was forecasted until 2020 via different possible scenarios based on (1) taking TSUPs at their current trends with no change in the national transport policy at present, and (2) shifting passenger traffic from highway to railway at given percentages but leaving airway traffic with its current trend. The model results indicate that shifting passenger traffic from the highway system to railway system resulted in a significant decrease on highway casualties in Turkey. 相似文献

Metamodels are approximate mathematical models used as surrogates for computationally expensive simulations. Since metamodels are widely used in design space exploration and optimization, there is growing interest in developing techniques to enhance their accuracy. It has been shown that the accuracy of metamodel predictions can be increased by combining individual metamodels in the form of an ensemble. Several efforts were focused on determining the contribution (or weight factor) of a metamodel in the ensemble using global error measures. In addition, prediction variance is also used as a local error measure to determine the weight factors. This paper investigates the efficiency of using local error measures, and also presents the use of the pointwise cross validation error as a local error measure as an alternative to using prediction variance. The effectiveness of ensemble models are tested on several problems with varying dimensionality: five mathematical benchmark problems, two structural mechanics problems and an automobile crash problem. It is found that the spatial ensemble models show better performances than the global ensemble for the low-dimensional problems, while the global ensemble is a more accurate model than the spatial ensembles for the high-dimensional problems. Ensembles based on pointwise cross validation error and prediction variance provide similar accuracy. The ensemble models based on local measures reduce cross validation errors drastically, but their performances are not that impressive in reducing the error evaluated at random test points, because the pointwise cross validation error is not a good surrogate for the error at a point. 相似文献

We present a simple and robust feature preserving image regularization by letting local region measures modulate the diffusivity.
The purpose of this modulation is to disambiguate low level cues in early vision. We interpret the Ambrosio-Tortorelli approximation
of the Mumford-Shah model as a system with modulatory feedback and utilize this interpretation to integrate high level information
into the regularization process. The method does not require any prior model or learning; the high level information is extracted
from local regions and fed back to the regularization step. An important characteristic of the method is that both negative
and positive feedback can be simultaneously used without creating oscillations. Experiments performed with both gray and color
natural images demonstrate the potential of the method under difficult noise types, non-uniform contrast, existence of multi-scale
patterns and textures.
