The structure of GaP films grown by molecular-beam epitaxy on vicinal Si(1113) substrates has been studied by X-ray diffraction. It is established that the crystalline lattice of a pseudomorphic film rotates about the <110> axis toward increasing deviation from the singular orientation, while the subsequent relaxation leads to rotation in the opposite direction. This is valid for the films of both (001) and (001̄) polarities. Differences between the surface morphologies of relaxed and pseudomorphic GaP films are revealed.

An original technology of zinc diffusion into InP via a narrow gap is described, which allows reproducible formation of p–n junctions with preset depth of doping and retained surface morphology of the doped layers. Using the proposed method, desired charge carrier distribution profiles in Zn-doped InP layers were obtained. Adsorptive removal of phenol from aqueous solutions on activated carbon prepared from tobacco residues: equilibrium, kinetics and thermodynamics 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
This study consists of producing high surface area activated carbon from tobacco residues by chemical activation and its behavior of phenol removal from aqueous solutions. K(2)CO(3) and KOH were used as chemical activation agents and three impregnation ratios (50, 75 and 100 wt.%) were applied on biomass. Maximum BET surface areas of activated carbons were obtained from impregnation with 75 wt.% of K(2)CO(3) and 75 wt.% of KOH as 1635 and 1474 m(2)/g, respectively. Optimum adsorption conditions were determined as a function of pH, adsorbent dosage, initial phenol concentration, contact time and temperature of solution for phenol removal. To describe the equilibrium isotherms the experimental data were analyzed by the Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) and Temkin isotherm models. Pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order and intraparticle diffusion kinetic models were used to find out the kinetic parameters and mechanism of adsorption process. The thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° were calculated for predicting the nature of adsorption. According to the experimental results, activated carbon prepared from tobacco residue seems to be an effective, low-cost and alternative adsorbent precursor for the removal of phenol from aqueous solutions. 相似文献

Pure anatase, nanosized and Sn(4+) ion doped titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) particulates (TiO(2)-Sn(4+)) were synthesized by hydrothermal process. TiO(2)-Sn(4+) was used to coat glass surfaces to investigate the photocatalytic antibacterial effect of Sn(4+) doping to TiO(2) against gram negative Escherichia coli (E. coli) and gram positive Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Relationship between solid ratio of TiO(2)-Sn(4+) in coatings and antibacterial activity was reported. The particulates and the films were characterized using particle size analyzer, zeta potential analyzer, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), SEM, AAS and UV/VIS/NIR techniques. The results showed that TiO(2)-Sn(4+) is fully anatase crystalline form and easily dispersed in water. Increasing the solid ratio of TiO(2)-Sn(4+) from 10 to 50% in the coating solution increased antibacterial effect. 相似文献

By employing RT-PCR-based technology, followed by Southern-blot analysis, patterns of relative TRC BJ gene segment usage in human CD4+ and CD8+ umbilical cord blood T cells (UCT) from ten children were determined in relation to seven recombined TCR BV gene (sub) families (BV 3, 5S1, 6S1-3, 8, 9, 12 and 18). Normal frequency of usage of individual BJ members was observed to be extremely nonrandom. BJ usage in association with each BV was ranked and mean ranking values were calculated for individual BJs. Moreover, BJ family usage and family ranges as well as individual BJ over-representations were determined. In all these aspects of BJ exon expression, CD4+ and CD8+ UCT displayed similar distribution patterns. Comparisons of BJ usage in UCT subpopulations and in the adult peripheral blood lymphocyte (PBL) counterparts were performed and many similarities were observed. However, discrepancies in two parameters were recorded; contrary to observations in PBL, individual BJ over-representations were virtually absent in UCT, and significantly less wide BJ family ranges were demonstrated in CD8+ UCT relative to CD8+ PBL T cells. These differences support the notion that UCT are in a less dynamic state than are PBL T cells. Hence, despite the fact that PBL T cells are subjected to continuous antigenic challenge, the striking resemblance of PBL and UCT with regard to the overall individual relative usage, ranking, mean ranking and family utilisation of BJ gene segments, irrespective of the choice of recombined BV exons, may suggest a relatively nondiscriminatory role for the BJ gene product in antigen recognition as compared to those encoded by the BV, (N) and BD gene segments. 相似文献

A method to estimate the strength reduction factors (Kf) of notched fatigue specimens is presented. It is shown that the influence of the notch geometry on fatigue life can be assessed by photoelastic analysis. A simple mathematical expression to estimate the value of Kf has been put forward. It is widely recognized that many chronic infections of the human body have a polymicrobial etiology. These include diabetic foot ulcer infections, lung infections in cystic fibrosis patients, periodontitis, otitis, urinary tract infections and even a proportion of systemic infections. The treatment of mixed infections poses serious challenges in the clinic. First, polymicrobial communities of microorganisms often organize themselves as biofilms that are notoriously recalcitrant to antimicrobial therapy and clearance by the host immune system. Secondly, a plethora of interactions among community members may affect the expression of virulence factors and the susceptibility to antimicrobials of individual species in the community. Therefore, new strategies able to target multiple pathogens in mixed populations need to be urgently developed and evaluated. In this regard, antimicrobial or host defense peptides (AMPs) deserve particular attention as they are endowed with many favorable features that may serve to this end. The aim of the present review is to offer a comprehensive and updated overview of studies addressing the therapeutic potential of AMPs in mixed infections, highlighting the opportunities offered by this class of antimicrobials in the fight against polymicrobial infections, but also the limits that may arise in their use for this type of application. 相似文献

Despite a significant number of investigations in the field of phosphazene chemistry, the formation mechanism of this class of cyclic compounds is still poorly studied. At the same time, a thorough understanding of this process is necessary, both for the direct production of phosphazene rings of a given size and for the controlled cyclization reaction when it is secondary and undesirable. We synthesized a series of short linear phosphazene oligomers with the general formula Cl[PCl2=N]n–PCl3+PCl6– and studied their tendency to form cyclic structures under the influence of elevated temperatures or in the presence of nitrogen-containing agents, such as hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) or ammonium chloride. It was established that linear oligophosphazenes are inert when heated in the absence of the mentioned cyclization agents, and the formation of cyclic products occurs only when these agents are involved in the process. The ability to obtain the desired size phosphazene cycle from corresponding linear chains is shown for the first time. Known obstacles, such as side interaction with the PCl6– counterion and a tendency of longer chains to undergo crosslinking elongation instead of cyclization are still relevant, and ways to overcome them are being discussed. 相似文献
