This paper provides a review of methods for processing the data obtained from drying kinetics rigs and pilot-plant trials. Different methods for fitting and smoothing drying curves are compared, aiming to generate curves that are usable in industrial design without losing vital information by oversmoothing. Generally, plots of drying rate need more smoothing than moisture content data. Special care is needed at low drying rates and moisture contents. It is shown that some popular methods of processing data, including use of smoothing programs or fitting to equations, may generate drying curves which are seriously in error. Recommendations are made for reliable methods of processing data; cubic splines have been found to be effective for moisture-time curves. It is important to retain the original raw experimental data as a cross-check, as smoothing can conceal valuable information. 相似文献

The phenomena occurring at the surface of a porous medium during drying in the capillary regime are investigated by pore network simulations. The impact of the formation of wet and dry patches at the surface on the drying rate is studied. The simulations indicate an edge effect characterized by a noticeable variation of saturation in a thin layer adjacent to the porous surface. Also, the results indicate a significant nonlocal equilibrium effect at the surface. The simulation results are exploited to test Schlünder's classical model which offers a simple closure relationship between the evaporation rate and the degree of occupancy of the surface by the liquid. In this article we consider the problem of testing for the presence of a unit root against autoregressive alternatives. In this context we prove the asymptotic equivalence of the well‐known (augmented) Dickey–Fuller test with a test based on an appropriate parametric modification of the technique of log‐periodogram regression. This modification consists of considering, close to the origin, the slope (in log–log coordinates) of an autoregressively fitted spectral density. This provides a new interpretation of the Dickey–Fuller test and closes the gap between it and log‐periodogram regression. This equivalence is based on monotonicity arguments and holds on the null as well as on the alternative. Finally, a simulation study provides indications of the finite‐sample behaviour of this asymptotic equivalence. 相似文献

The modeling of transient turbocharged diesel engine operation appeared in the early seventies and continues to be in the focal point of research, due to the importance of transient response in the everyday operating conditions of engines. The majority of research has focused so far on issues concerning thermodynamic modeling, as these directly affect performance and pollutants' emissions. On the other hand, issues concerning the dynamics of transient operation are usually over-simplified, possibly for the sake of speeding up program execution time. In the present work, an experimentally validated transient diesel engine simulation code is used to study and evaluate the importance of the lubricating oil properties (oil-type, viscosity, temperature) on the transient response of a turbocharged diesel engine. It is revealed how the lubricating oil affects mechanical friction and hence, the speed response as well as the other interesting parameters, e.g. fuel pump rack position or turbocharger operating point for load-change schedules typical in the European Transient Cycles for heavy-duty engines. Particularly under low ambient conditions, the high oil viscosity is responsible for a significant increase in the respective frictional losses worsening the engine transient response. 相似文献

An existing network model for isothermal drying of capillary porous media is extended to account for viscosity in the liquid phase so that it is no longer restricted to structures with large pores. The solution of the features selection problem is critical for robust detection of crack signals in noisy environment, varying from short-time impulses such as raindrops to the wide-band white Gaussian noise. In this paper, two novel feature selection methods were used to reduce an initial set of 90 features, 67 estimated in the time domain and 23 in the frequency domain, decreasing significantly the memory requirements and the computational complexity of a Radial-Basis-Function (RBF) cracks detector. The evaluation process is carried out in a database including of more than 6000 cracks, raindrops and simultaneous crack and raindrops signals. Additive white Gaussian noise is used to distort the real signals at ?20 to 20 dB Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). The experimental results show that the number of features can be reduced to approximately 25, without affecting the classification rate of cracks and raindrops in the noisy signals, if the SNR is better than 0 dB. In noise-free environment a classification rate of 91% for a single crack/raindrop event is achieved using only five features. A different set of five features reaches a rate of 85% at 10 dB SNR. 相似文献

Fusarium oxysporum F3 alone or in mixed culture with Saccharomyces cerevisiae F12 were used to ferment carbohydrates of wet exploded pre-treated wheat straw (PWS) directly to ethanol. Both microorganisms were first grown aerobically to produce cell mass and thereafter fermented PWS to ethanol under anaerobic conditions. During fermentation, soluble and insoluble carbohydrates were hydrolysed by the lignocellulolytic system of F. oxysporum. Mixed substrate fermentation using PWS and corn cobs (CC) in the ratio 1:2 was used to obtain an enzyme mixture with high cellulolytic and hemicellulolytic activities. Under these conditions, activities as high as 34300, 9100, 326, 24, 169, 27 and 254 U dm−3 of xylanase, endoglucanase, ??-glucosidase, arabinofuranosidase, avicelase, feruloyl esterase and acetyl esterase, respectively, were obtained. The replacement of the enzyme production phase of F. oxysporum by the addition of commercially available enzymes Celluclast® 1.5 L FG and Novozym® 188 in 3:1 ratio for the treatment of PWS, resulted in a 3-fold increase in the volumetric ethanol productivity without increasing the ethanol production significantly. By direct bioconversion of 110 kg m−3 dry matter of PWS, ethanol concentration (4.9 kg m−3) and yield (40 g kg−1 of PWS) were similarly obtained by F. oxysporum and the mixed culture, while productivity rates as high as 34 g m−3 h−1 and 108 g m−3 h−1 were obtained by F. oxysporum and the mixed culture, respectively. 相似文献
