We present a real-time relighting and shadowing method for dynamic scenes with varying lighting, view and BRDFs. Our approach is based on a compact representation of reflectance data that allows for changing the BRDF at run-time and a data-driven method for accurately synthesizing self-shadows on articulated and deformable geometries. Unlike previous self-shadowing approaches, we do not rely on local blocking heuristics. We do not fit a model to the BRDF-weighted visibility, but rather only to the visibility that changes during animation. In this manner, our model is more compact than previous techniques and requires less computation both during fitting and at run-time. Our reflectance product operators can re-integrate arbitrary low-frequency view-dependent BRDF effects on-the-fly and are compatible with all previous dynamic visibility generation techniques as well as our own data-driven visibility model. We apply our reflectance product operators to three different visibility generation models, and our data-driven model can achieve framerates well over 300Hz.  相似文献

The goal of user experience design in industry is to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty through the utility, ease of use, and pleasure provided in the interaction with a product. So far, user experience studies have mostly focused on short-term evaluations and consequently on aspects relating to the initial adoption of new product designs. Nevertheless, the relationship between the user and the product evolves over long periods of time and the relevance of prolonged use for market success has been recently highlighted. In this paper, we argue for the cost-effective elicitation of longitudinal user experience data. We propose a method called the “UX Curve” which aims at assisting users in retrospectively reporting how and why their experience with a product has changed over time. The usefulness of the UX Curve method was assessed in a qualitative study with 20 mobile phone users. In particular, we investigated how users’ specific memories of their experiences with their mobile phones guide their behavior and their willingness to recommend the product to others. The results suggest that the UX Curve method enables users and researchers to determine the quality of long-term user experience and the influences that improve user experience over time or cause it to deteriorate. The method provided rich qualitative data and we found that an improving trend of perceived attractiveness of mobile phones was related to user satisfaction and willingness to recommend their phone to friends. This highlights that sustaining perceived attractiveness can be a differentiating factor in the user acceptance of personal interactive products such as mobile phones. The study suggests that the proposed method can be used as a straightforward tool for understanding the reasons why user experience improves or worsens in long-term product use and how these reasons relate to customer loyalty.  相似文献

Understanding how lithographic material and processing, affect linewidth roughness (LWR), and finally device operation is of immense importance in future scaled MOS transistors. The goal of this work is to determine the impact of LWR on device operation and to connect material and process parameters with it. To this end, we examine the effects of photoresist polymer length and acid diffusion length on LWR and transistor performance. Through the application of a homemade simulator of the lithographic process, it is shown that photoresists with small polymer chains and small acid diffusion lengths form lines with low LWR and thus lead to transistors with more reliable electrical performance.  相似文献

This paper reports on a research project concerned with the areal interpolation problem — the problem of comparing different data sets when they have been made available for different zonal systems. Our approach is based on using additional information to guide the interpolation process. This paper emphasizes recent work applying the method to Poisson and binomially distributed data. The spectral responsivity of commercially available InSb detectors with low-pass cold filters attached to their cold shields for optimum operation in the 1.6-2.6 microm wavelength range is observed to drift slowly with time. These drifts are shown to arise because of a thin film of water-ice deposited on the cold low-pass filters mounted on the cold shields of the detectors. The temporal characteristics of these drifts are shown to strongly depend on wavelength. A model is proposed for the behavior of the water present in the Dewar vacuum, which can explain and predict the temporal characteristics of the observed drifts for all wavelengths. These observations are particularly relevant to space instruments that use cryogenically cooled IR filter radiometers for Earth observation. The temporal profile of drifts observed in missions such as Landsat-5 is identical to that observed in cryogenically cooled filtered InSb detectors during laboratory measurements. This study confirms that the deposition of a thin film of a material such as ice on the cold bandpass filters and windows is therefore the most likely source of the oscillatory drifts observed in the response of some of the channels of the ATSR-2, Landsat-4, and Landsat-5 Earth observation missions.  相似文献

The main objective of this study is to evaluate the combination of electrokinetic remediation and soil washing technology in order to remove cadmium from contaminated soil. This paper presents the results of an experimental research undertaken to evaluate different washing and purging solutions to enhance the removal of cadmium from a real contaminated soil during electrokinetic remediation. Two different experimental modules were applied in the laboratory. Soil was saturated with tap water, while acetic and hydrochloric acids, as well as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) were used as purging solutions in the first module. Results show that there was a decrease of cadmium concentration near anode, but a significant increase in the middle of the cell, due to the increasing pH. Citric, nitric and acetic acids were used for soil washing and purging solutions in the second module. In this case, an 85% reduction of cadmium concentration was achieved. Therefore, results indicate that soil pH and washing solutions are the most important factors in governing the dissolution and/or desorption of Cd in a soil system under electrical fields.  相似文献

In the present study, solid dispersion systems of felodipine (FEL) with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) were developed, in order to enhance solid state stability and release kinetics. The prepared systems were characterized by using Differential Scanning Calorimetry, X-Ray Diffraction, and Scanning Electron Microscopy techniques, while the interactions which take place were identified by using Fourier Transformation-Infrared Spectroscopy. Due to the formation of hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl group of PVP and the amino groups of FEL, transition of FEL from crystalline to amorphous state was achieved. The dispersion of FEL was found to be in nano-scale particle sizes and dependent on the FEL/PVP ratio. This modification leads to partial miscibility of the two components, as it was verified by DSC and optimal glass dispersion of FEL into the polymer matrix since no crystalline structure was detected with XRD. The above deformation has a significant effect on the dissolution enhancement and the release kinetics of FEL, as it causes the pattern to change from linear to logarithmic. An impressive optimization of the dissolution profile is observed corresponding to a rapid release of FEL in the system containing 10% w/w of FEL, releasing 100% in approximately 20 min. The particle size of dispersed FEL into PVP matrix could be classified as the main parameter affecting dissolution optimization. The mechanism of such enhancement consists of the lower energy required for the dissolution due to the amorphous transition and the fine dispersion, which leads to an optimal contact surface of the drug substance with the dissolution media. The prepared systems are stable during storage at 40 ± 1°C and relative humidity of 75 ± 5%. Addition of sodium docusate as surfactant does not affect the release kinetics, but only the initial burst due to its effect on the surface tension and wettability of the systems.  相似文献

Stiff thin films on soft substrates are both ancient and commonplace in nature; for instance, animal skin comprises a stiff epidermis attached to a soft dermis. Although more recent and rare, artificial skins are increasingly used in a broad range of applications, including flexible electronics, tunable diffraction gratings, force spectroscopy in cells, modern metrology methods, and other devices. Here we show that model elastomeric artificial skins wrinkle in a hierarchical pattern consisting of self-similar buckles extending over five orders of magnitude in length scale, ranging from a few nanometres to a few millimetres. We provide a mechanism for the formation of this hierarchical wrinkling pattern, and quantify our experimental findings with both computations and a simple scaling theory. This allows us to harness the substrates for applications. In particular, we show how to use the multigeneration-wrinkled substrate for separating particles based on their size, while simultaneously forming linear chains of monodisperse particles.  相似文献
