The aim of the study was to assess the biomechanical strains on the hand-wrist system during grapevine pruning with newly designed pruning shears. Surface electromyography of the finger flexor muscle and wrist postures were analyzed in four vineyard workers during actual work with the new and reference hand-powered pruning shears. Due to the large inter-individual differences in biomechanical data observed with both pruning shears, no systematic effect of the new pruning shears on "extreme" flexion/extension (F/E) and ulnar/radial (U/R) wrist deviations was demonstrated. However, the use of the new pruning shears was associated with a higher frequency of "neutral and moderate" U/R deviations (U/R < 20%(max)) and, to a lesser extent, of "neutral and moderate" F/E deviations (F/E < 20%(max)). Due to the small sample of workers, this result must be confirmed in a larger population of vineyard workers. 相似文献

The biology of Plodia interpunctella (Hübner) was studied at various combinations of temperature and relative humidity. The incubation period of eggs ranged from 4 to 7 days. Development from laying of egg to adult lasted an average of 50.9 days at 25°C and 60% r.h. and 34.6 days at 30°C and 80% r.h. At 70 and 80% relative humidity, development was faster, more progeny were produced and the moths were heavier than at 60% r.h. Relative humidity had little effect on egg and pupal development.The larvae were negatively phototactic. However, the rate of development of the strain studied was similar in constant darkness, constant light or in a 12 hr-light: 12 hr-dark light system. The adult moths were immobile in diffused daylight. Locomotory activity was markedly high at dusk and was accompanied by an increase in the rate of pairing. Temperatures between 27 and 31°C did not appear to influence locomotory activity.Cracked groundnuts were more favourable for development than whole nuts which were in turn better than groundnut meal. The weight losses inflicted on infested groundnuts were directly correlated with the total weights of emerged moths and differed according to the treatment given to the medium. Losses in weight of about 8.7 and 8.6% were observed when 13 larvae completed development in 30 g of whole nuts and cracked nuts, respectively. Females consumed more food and were heavier than the males. Each larva ate an average of 140 mg of whole nuts and 190 mg of cracked groundnuts to complete development. The increases in free fatty acid values were not appreciably higher in infested media than in the control. In this work we aim at proving central limit theorems for open quantum walks on \({\mathbb {Z}}^d\). We study the case when there are various classes of vertices in the network. In particular, we investigate two ways of distributing the vertex classes in the network. First, we assign the classes in a regular pattern. Secondly, we assign each vertex a random class with a transition invariant distribution. For each way of distributing vertex classes, we obtain an appropriate central limit theorem, illustrated by numerical examples. The periodic structure of some natural and especially man-made materials can be manifested not only on an atomic but also on a larger scale. Investigation of mechanical properties of these materials usually hinges on well-developed homogenization methods. On the other hand, these methods are not suitable for fracture analysis where the knowledge of the local stress-strain fields near a flaw (a crack) is required. The result is obtained by the use of the representative cell method based on the discrete Fourier transform. This method enables one to determine the exact stress distribution in a periodic structure subjected to arbitrary loading. Direct application of the method is impossible since the crack violates the translational symmetry defined by the material microstructure. This obstacle is overcome by application of the fictitious loading to the uncracked body at the line where the crack is to be located. The amplitude of the loading is adjusted in order to fulfill the boundary conditions imposed on the crack faces. The compatibility equation for deriving this amplitude is obtained by the use of the corresponding Green function, which is found in a closed form. Fracture problems for the two types of materials with a periodic microstructure are considered. The first one is a composite material consisting of dissimilar isotropic elastic layers arranged periodically. The second periodic microstructure is a 2D infinite beam lattice modeling a cellular material. The analysis of the failure process in the latter case shows that in contrast to the case of homogeneous material, the crack propagation path is not defined by the condition of zero Mode II stress intensity factor. 相似文献

Currently available analyses of amyloid proteins reveal the necessity of the existence of radical structural changes in amyloid transformation processes. The analysis carried out in this paper based on the model called fuzzy oil drop (FOD) and its modified form (FOD-M) allows quantifying the role of the environment, particularly including the aquatic environment. The starting point and basis for the present presentation is the statement about the presence of two fundamentally different methods of organizing polypeptides into ordered conformations—globular proteins and amyloids. The present study shows the source of the differences between these two paths resulting from the specificity of the external force field coming from the environment, including the aquatic and hydrophobic one. The water environment expressed in the fuzzy oil drop model using the 3D Gauss function directs the folding process towards the construction of a micelle-like system with a hydrophobic core in the central part and the exposure of polarity on the surface. The hydrophobicity distribution of membrane proteins has the opposite characteristic: Exposure of hydrophobicity at the surface of the membrane protein with an often polar center (as in the case of ion channels) is expected. The structure of most proteins is influenced by a more or less modified force field generated by water through the appropriate presence of a non-polar (membrane-like) environment. The determination of the proportion of a factor different from polar water enables the assessment of the protein status by indicating factors favoring the structure it represents. 相似文献

We study local, distributed algorithms for the capacitated minimum dominating set (CapMDS) problem, which arises in various
distributed network applications. Given a network graph G=(V,E), and a capacity cap(v)∈ℕ for each node v∈V, the CapMDS problem asks for a subset S⊆V of minimal cardinality, such that every network node not in S is covered by at least one neighbor in S, and every node v∈S covers at most cap(v) of its neighbors. We prove that in general graphs and even with uniform capacities, the problem is inherently non-local, i.e., every distributed algorithm achieving a non-trivial approximation ratio must have a time complexity that essentially
grows linearly with the network diameter. On the other hand, if for some parameter ε>0, capacities can be violated by a factor of 1+ε, CapMDS becomes much more local. Particularly, based on a novel distributed randomized rounding technique, we present a distributed

Reactive inkjet printing offers a direct way to create polymeric structures in situ on a substrate. Therefore, two component polyurethane formulations can be utilized to be used in multicomponent inkjet printing. In this contribution, the use of polyethylene glycol (M = 200 g mol−1), glycerol ethoxylate (M = 1,000 g mol−1), and water (blowing agent) in combination with aliphatic 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate or aromatic methylene diphenyl diisocyanate for reactive inkjet printing is evaluated. The inks are jettable on a Dimatix DMP-3000 inkjet printer using a 10 pL piezo driven drop-on-demand printhead showing stable droplet formation. Solid films on glass are formed using a drop-by-drop printing strategy. A fully-coupled balanced-force numerical framework for two-phase flows with surface tension on arbitrary collocated meshes is presented, including a novel method to evaluate the curvature from volume fractions. The presented framework reduces the imbalances at the interface to solver tolerance and provides stable and reliable results for density ratios of 106 and larger. The new method to evaluate the curvature is based on a least-squares fit, providing better or equal accuracy compared to implementations found in the literature, which are generally limited to structured meshes, and the accuracy on Cartesian and tetrahedral meshes is shown to be comparable. 相似文献

A construction worker was seriously injured after falling from a roof to a concrete floor. He was working on a plank while placing insulation material when the accident occurred. The plank broke into three pieces. Visual observation of the plank indicated a relatively new plank. Further investigation of the plank revealed a grade of structural plank no. 2. A common practice is for a construction worker to use scaffold grade plank, which has twice the capacity of a structural grade plank. This represents the most probable procedural cause of the plank's failure. The most probable enabling cause (internal cause) of the failure is a local split at the midspan, whereas the most probable triggering cause (external cause) is the impact loads produced by the weight of the worker and the insulation material he carried while walking on the plank. The study also concluded a failure mechanism that was initiated by a longitudinal split at the midspan of the plank. The split weakened the plank and led to a transverse break at the midspan. 相似文献
