Strontium-doped lanthanum ferrites (LSF) were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), 4-point D.C. electrical conductivity and bulk property measurements. The results were compared to those of previous studies as well as selected processing conditions. The investigation focused on effects of sintering temperature, time, atmosphere (air, O2 and N2) and composition of La1–xSrxFeO3– (x = 0.2–0.9), on the sintering behavior, microstructural development and electrical conductivity. An oxalate precipitation method was used to prepare lanthanum ferrite powders. Simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TGA/DTA) studies found calcination temperatures of 800 and 850^C were necessary to form single-phase crystalline powders, as determined by XRD. Specimens were sintered from 1300 to 1400^C with dwell times from to 2 hrs. Results from SEM/EDS analysis showed the presence of a second phase in the samples fired in air or oxygen. The second phase was not detected by x-ray diffraction due to the small amount of material present. Samples fired in nitrogen had the lowest conductivity while those fired in oxygen had the highest. A composition of x = 0.5 resulted in the highest conductivity, 352 S/cm, at an operating temperature of 550C in air. High strontium additions (x = 0.9) lowered the linear shrinkage of LSF.  相似文献

Repeated fertilisation of crops with manure commonly increases both the amount and the quality of soil organic matter, the mineralisation of which strongly determines the availability of N to plants. In the rhizosphere, the microbial mineralisation/immobilisation of N is enhanced due to rhizodeposition (release of organic compounds from roots). In this work, we studied N transformations during incubation of maize root mucilage in soils that had been previously fertilized with composted pig manure or with ammonium nitrate for 7 years. Our work revealed mucilage was rapidly mineralised (average half-life of 3 days), inducing a rapid N immobilisation of 94 mg N g−1 of mucilage C, followed by a slow remineralisation. Fertilisation with manure induced a persistent stimulation of the soil organic matter mineralisation, leading to an enhanced content of soil inorganic N (+23% in 58 days of incubation). Due to this stimulation of microbial activity in the soil fertilized with manure, the decrease in inorganic N during the biodegradation of mucilage lasted a shorter time as compared to the mineral fertilisation. However, the type of fertilisation did not significantly change the amount of N immobilised.  相似文献

The objectives of this research were to characterize the mechanical and barrier properties of sweetpotato starch (SPS)-based film (SPSF) and to investigate the antimicrobial activity of SPSF containing origanum oil (OG) against foodborne pathogenic bacteria. The SPSF was fabricated with the SPS extracted from commercial sweetpotato roots. Tensile strength (TS), percent elongation at break (E), and water vapor permeability (WVP) were determined to characterize the SPSF fabricated with selected SPS concentrations, plasticizers, and the concentrations of plasticizers. The agar diffusion assay was used to determine the antimicrobial activity of SPSF containing selective concentrations of OG against Salmonella Enteritidis, Escherichia coli O157:H7, and Listeria monocytogenes. The SPSF fabricated with 2.5% SPS exhibited the greatest TS (4.58 MPa). The TS, E, and WVP of SPSF plasticized with 40% sorbitol exhibited 7.96 MPa, 77.92%, 0.212 ng m/m(2) S Pa, respectively. Therefore, the SPSF fabricated with 2.5% SPS and 40% sorbitol was determined as the optimum film. The antimicrobial activity of the SPSF containing OG increased as the concentration of OG increased. And the SPSF containing OG exhibited greater inhibitory effects against the gram-negative bacteria such as S. Enteritidis and E. coli O157:H7 than the gram-positive L. monocytogenes. The greatest antimicrobial activity was observed against S. Enteritidis when the SPSF containing 2% OG was applied, and the maximum square of zone width was 18.43 mm(2).  相似文献

Colloidal transport has been shown to enhance the migration of plutonium in groundwater downstream from contaminated sites, but little is known about the adsorption of ??Sr and plutonium onto colloids in the soil solution of natural soils. We sampled soil solutions using suction cups, and separated colloids using ultrafiltration to determine the distribution of 23?Pu and ??Sr between the truly dissolved fraction and the colloidal fraction of the solutions of three Alpine soils contaminated only by global fallout from the nuclear weapon tests. Plutonium was essentially found in the colloidal fraction (>80%) and probably associated with organic matter. A significant amount of colloidal ??Sr was detected in organic-rich soil solutions. Our results suggest that binding to organic colloids in the soil solutions plays a key role with respect to the mobility of plutonium in natural alpine soils and, to a lesser extent, to the mobility of ??Sr.  相似文献

Reinforced hepatitis B (HB) vaccination schedules have been tested in nonresponsive hemodialysis (HD) patients. Primary high-dose intradermal (ID) vaccination in HD has been proposed in one study with higher seroconversion rate, but no cost analysis was made. The aim of this prospective study was to confirm this previous report and focus on a cost-effectiveness evaluation of the thorough vaccination with a maintenance program. Thirty-five chronic incident HD patients received primary ID HB vaccination with a reinforced schedule (20 microg Engerix-B every 2 weeks). Revaccination with a monthly single ID dose of 20 microg was performed whenever anti-HBs titer fell under 20 IU/L and continued until a titer of 20 U/L was reached. Outcome measures were cumulative seroconversion rates, mean levels of anti-HBs, maintenance booster doses, rate of seroprotection at the end of the 2-year follow-up and subsequent costs. The present study was associated with an earlier peak of anti-HBs titer (3.9+/-1.7 months) and a higher cumulative seroconversion rate (96.9%) after 1 year. Moreover, a low-booster shot (17.4 microg) of ID Engerix-B/year/patient confers a 100% seroprotection for all responders for a second-year period. The mean cost of our schedule is 127.7 euro/patient for a 2-year period, revaccination included. This current study demonstrates that primary reinforced ID HB vaccination with a maintenance program for a 2-year period warrants the best cost-effectiveness ratio with rapid and sustained seroprotection in almost all HD patients.  相似文献

A batch upflow fixed-bed sulphate-reducing bioreactor has been set up and monitored for the treatment of synthetic solutions containing divalent iron (100mg/L and 200mg/L), zinc (100mg/L and 200mg/L), copper (100mg/L and 200mg/L), nickel (100mg/L and 200mg/L) and sulphate (1700 mg/L and 2130 mg/L) at initial pH 3-3.5, using ethanol as the sole electron donor. The reactor has been operated at the theoretical stoichiometric ethanol/sulphate ratio. Complete oxidation of ethanol has been achieved through complete oxidation of the intermediately, microbially produced acetate. This is mainly attributed to the presence of Desulfobacter postgatei species which dominated the sulphate-reducing community in the reactor. The reduction of sulphate was limited to about 85%. Quantitative precipitation of the soluble metal ions has been achieved. XRD and SEM-EDS analyses performed on samples of the produced sludge showed poorly crystalline phases of marcasite, covellite and wurtzite as well as several mixed metal sulphides.  相似文献

The mechanism of egg white antimicrobial activity involves specific molecules and environmental factors. However, it is difficult to compare the data from the literature because of the use of various bacterial strains and incubation conditions. The aim of our study was to determine the effect of temperature, pH, inoculum size, and egg white protein concentration on egg white antimicrobial activity and to investigate the putative interactions among these factors by conducting a complete factorial design analysis. The behavior of Salmonella Enteritidis and Escherichia coli was studied after precultivation in tryptic soy broth and Luria-Bertani broth, respectively, using three different egg white protein concentrations (0, 10, and 100%), five temperatures (37, 40, 42, 45, and 48°C), two pHs (7.8 and 9.3), and six inoculum levels (3 to 8 log CFU/ml). The essential role of temperature was identified. An inverse relationship was observed between bacterial growth and an increase in temperature. The role of egg white proteins was clearly demonstrated. In the absence of egg white proteins, bacterial growth occurred under most incubation conditions, whereas the presence of 10 and 100% protein produced bacteriostatic or bactericidal effects. The interaction between temperature and protein concentration was significant. At the highest tested temperatures, proteins were less involved in the bactericidal effect. Bacterial destruction was higher at pH 9.3 than at pH 7.8. Under our experimental conditions, Salmonella Enteritidis was more resistant to inactivation by egg white than was E. coli.  相似文献

Some medical interventions require knowing the correspondence between an MRI/CT image and the actual position of the patient. Examples occur in neurosurgery and radiotherapy, but also in video surgery (laparoscopy). We present in this paper three new techniques for performing this task without artificial markers. To do this, we find the 3D–2D projective transformation (composition of a rigid displacement and a perspective projection) which maps a 3D object onto a 2D image of this object. Depending on the object model (curve or surface), and on the 2D image acquisition system (X-Ray, video), the techniques are different but the framework is common:Results are presented on a variety of real medical data to demonstrate the validity of our approach.  相似文献

Alkanes account for approximately 50% of nonmethane organic compounds present in urban atmospheres. Previous studies have shown that hydroxycarbonyls are important products ofthe OH radical initiated reactions of > or = C5 n-alkanes, but isomer-specific identifications and quantifications of these products have not been carried out. In this work, we have used solid-phase microextraction fibers precoated with O-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzyl)hydroxylamine for on-fiber derivatization of carbonyl-containing compounds with subsequent analyses by combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and GC with flame ionization detection (GC-FID). GC-MS analyses showed the presence of the oximes of 5-hydroxy-2-pentanone and 4-hydroxypentanal from the n-pentane reaction; 5-hydroxy-2-hexanone, 6-hydroxy-3-hexanone, and 4-hydroxyhexanal from the n-hexane reaction; 5-hydroxy-2-heptanone, 6-hydroxy-3-heptanone, 1-hydroxy-4-heptanone, and 4-hydroxyheptanal from the n-heptane reaction; and 5-hydroxy-2-octanone, 6-hydroxy-3-octanone, 7-hydroxy-4-octanone, and 4-hydroxyoctanal from the n-octane reaction. The formation yields of these 1,4-hydroxycarbonyls were determined from GC-FID analyses. By use of the yields of 1,4-hydroxycarbonyls formed from n-hexane, n-heptane, and n-octane at 50% relative humidity (and those from n-pentane at both 5 and 50% relative humidity), then formation of 1,4-hydroxycarbonyls accounts for 54% of the reaction products from n-pentane, 57% from n-hexane, 51% from n-heptane, and 53% from n-octane. Combined with previously measured yields of carbonyls, alkyl nitrates, and hydroxyalkyl nitrates, we can now accountfor approximately 74-118% of the products formed from the n-pentane through n-octane reactions.  相似文献
