The review aimed to identify the different high-throughput phenotyping (HTP) techniques that used for quality evaluation in cassava and yam breeding programmes, and this has provided insights towards the development of metrics and their application in cassava and yam improvements. A systematic review of the published research articles involved the use of NIRS in analysing the quality traits of cassava and yam was carried out, and Scopus, Science Direct, Web of Sciences and Google Scholar were searched. The results of the review established that NIRS could be used in understanding the chemical constituents (carbohydrate, protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids, moisture, starch, etc.) for high-throughput phenotyping. This study provides preliminary evidence of the application of NIRS as an efficient and affordable procedure for HTP. However, the feasibility of using mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIRS) and hyperspectral imaging (HSI) in combination with the NIRS could be further studied for quality traits phenotyping.  相似文献

The acoustic vibrations of metal nanoparticles encapsulated in a dielectric shell (Ag@SiO(2)) were investigated using a time-resolved femtosecond technique. The measured vibration periods significantly differ from those predicted for the bare metal cores and, depending on the relative core and shell sizes, were found to be either larger or smaller than them. These results show that the vibration of the whole core-shell particle is excited and detected. Moreover, vibrational periods are in excellent agreement with the predictions of a model based on continuum thermoelasticity. However, such agreement is obtained only if a good mechanical contact of the metal and dielectric parts of the core-shell particle is assumed, providing a unique way to probe this contact in multimaterial or hybrid nano-objects.  相似文献

This study assessed the effects of slope exposure, altitude and yield on several cup quality criteria of coffees from two altitude terroirs of Costa Rica, Orosi (between 1020 and 1250 m above sea level) and Santa María de Dota (between 1550 and 1780 m above sea level). East‐facing slopes gave beverages with generally superior attributes, probably owing to better exposure to morning sunlight. These beverages were mainly more acid: at Orosi an acidity score of 2.73 out of 5 was obtained (3.64 for Santa María de Dota) for eastern exposures, as opposed to 2.36 on average (3.28 for Santa María de Dota) for other exposures. In addition, a positive relation was found between altitude and taster preferences in both terroirs. A negative relation was also found between yield and beverage acidity at Santa María de Dota, where some coffee trees produced up to 13 kg of coffee cherry. Coffees from Orosi were characterised by a floral flavour, which depended on slope exposure, whilst coffees from Santa María de Dota displayed a chocolate taste, which was more marked at high altitude. In both terroirs the caffeine, trigonelline, fat, sucrose and chlorogenic acid contents were not well correlated with the sensory characteristics. The identification and quantification of carotenoids has been carried out on tropical and non tropical fruits because of two important carotenoid's properties: as antioxidant compounds having a prevention role in some diseases, and as a source of provitamin A needed for a good human nutrition. This study aimed to identify carotenoids present during different steps for producing flour from Costa Rican peach-palm fruit (Bactris gasipaes H.B.K). Nine carotenoids were tentatively identified and quantified by HPLC-DAD in raw pulp, and 14 were detected in cooked pulp, the additional five being products of isomerization and hydroxylation of carotenoids in the raw pulp. The flour contained 13 carotenoids, one less (all-trans-??-criptoxanthin) than in cooked pulp, with the main one being all-trans ??-carotene. This carotenoid was also present in raw pulp at a concentration of 96.0 ± 1.7 ??g equiv. of ??-carotene g−1 dw. The concentration decreased significantly (P < 0.05) during cooking and drying to reach a final concentration of 33.3 ± 1.0 ??g equiv. ??-carotene g−1 dw in the flour. Flour production reduced (P < 0.05) the total carotenoid content from 373.4 to 237.7 ??g of ??-carotene g−1 dw, with a final retention rate of 63.7% by the end of the process. Moreover, 9 of the 14 carotenoids account for high levels of provitamin A, which, even so, had decreased from 2723 retinol equivalents (RE) 100 g−1 in raw pulp to 1614 RE 100 g−1 in cooked pulp and 1289 RE 100 g−1 in flour. Provitamin A level is still high when compared to other common provitamin A sources. Our study shows that while there is a change in the levels and profile of carotenoids during the peach-palm flour process, and a reduction of provitamin A value, peach-palm fruit is a great source of bioactive compounds.  相似文献

The growth of semiconductor (SC) nanowires (NW) by CVD using Au-catalyzed VLS process has been widely studied over the past few years. Among others SC, it is possible to grow pure Si or SiGe NW thanks to these techniques. Nevertheless, Au could deteriorate the electric properties of SC and the use of other metal catalysts will be mandatory if NW are to be designed for innovating electronic. First, this article's focus will be on SiGe NW's growth using Au catalyst. The authors managed to grow SiGe NW between 350 and 400°C. Ge concentration (x) in Si1-xGex NW has been successfully varied by modifying the gas flow ratio: R = GeH4/(SiH4 + GeH4). Characterization (by Raman spectroscopy and XRD) revealed concentrations varying from 0.2 to 0.46 on NW grown at 375°C, with R varying from 0.05 to 0.15. Second, the results of Si NW growths by CVD using alternatives catalysts such as platinum-, palladium- and nickel-silicides are presented. This study, carried out on a LPCVD furnace, aimed at defining Si NW growth conditions when using such catalysts. Since the growth temperatures investigated are lower than the eutectic temperatures of these Si-metal alloys, VSS growth is expected and observed. Different temperatures and HCl flow rates have been tested with the aim of minimizing 2D growth which induces an important tapering of the NW. Finally, mechanical characterization of single NW has been carried out using an AFM method developed at the LTM. It consists in measuring the deflection of an AFM tip while performing approach-retract curves at various positions along the length of a cantilevered NW. This approach allows the measurement of as-grown single NW's Young modulus and spring constant, and alleviates uncertainties inherent in single point measurement.  相似文献

In this article, the microstructure and photoluminescence (PL) properties of Nd-doped silicon-rich silicon oxide (SRSO) are reported as a function of the annealing temperature and the Nd concentration. The thin films, which were grown on Si substrates by reactive magnetron co-sputtering, contain the same Si excess as determined by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra show that a phase separation occurs during the annealing because of the condensation of the Si excess resulting in the formation of silicon nanoparticles (Si-np) as detected by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. Under non-resonant excitation at 488 nm, our Nd-doped SRSO films simultaneously exhibited PL from Si-np and Nd3+ demonstrating the efficient energy transfer between Si-np and Nd3+ and the sensitizing effect of Si-np. Upon increasing the Nd concentration from 0.08 to 4.9 at.%, our samples revealed a progressive quenching of the Nd3+ PL which can be correlated with the concomitant increase of disorder within the host matrix as shown by FTIR experiments. Moreover, the presence of Nd-oxide nanocrystals in the highest Nd-doped sample was established by XRD. It is, therefore, suggested that the Nd clustering, as well as disorder, are responsible for the concentration quenching of the PL of Nd3+.  相似文献

By means of ADE-FDTD method, this paper investigates the electromagnetic modelling of a rib-loaded waveguide composed of a Nd3+ doped Silicon Rich Silicon Oxide active layer sandwiched between a SiO2 bottom cladding and a SiO2 rib. The Auxilliary Differential Equations are the rate equations which govern the levels populations. The Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) scheme is used to solve the space and time dependent Maxwell equations which describe the electromagnetic field in a copropagating scheme of both pumping (λ pump = 488 nm) and signal (λ signal = 1064 nm) waves. Such systems are characterized by extremely different specific times such as the period of electromagnetic field ~ 10-15 s and the lifetimes of the electronic levels between ~ 10-10s and ~ 10-4 s. The time scaling method is used in addition to specific initial conditions in order to decrease the computational time. We show maps of the Poynting vector along the propagation direction as a function of the silicon nanograin (Si-ng) concentrations. A threshold value of 1024 Si-ng m-3 is extracted below which the pump wave can propagate so that a signal amplication is possible.  相似文献

In this article, we have fabricated and studied a new multilayer structure Si-SiO2/SiN x by reactive magnetron sputtering. The comparison between SiO2 and SiN x host matrices in the optical properties of the multilayers is detailed. Structural analysis was made on the multilayer structures using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The effect of specific annealing treatments on the optical properties is studied and we report a higher visible luminescence with a control over the thermal budget when SiO2 is replaced by the SiN x matrix. The latter seems to be a potential candidate to replace the most sought SiO2 host matrix.  相似文献

Stoichiometric β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) and hydroxyapatite (HA) powders were synthesized by chemical precipitation of aqueous solutions of diammonium phosphate and calcium nitrate. After a calcination treatment and a milling step, the powders were shaped by slip casting. The sintering temperature effect on the relative density and the average grain size was investigated. By natural sintering at 1200 and 1120 °C, densities of 98% and 99% were obtained for HA and TCP, respectively. After determination of minimum temperatures to obtain only closed porosity and a pre-sintering at these temperatures, hot isostatic pressing (HIP) treatment was carried out. Transparent or translucent samples were obtained, indicating a relative density very close to the theoretical value (>99.9%). Mechanical properties (three-point bending strength, fracture toughness, Young's modulus and Vickers hardness) were measured on both materials with similar grain size (~ 1 μm). Bending strengths of 181 and 105 MPa were measured for TCP and HA, respectively.  相似文献
