Evaluation of electrolysis for oxidative deodorization of hog manure   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Electrolysis was investigated as a method for the amelioration of odor from the supernatant phase of centrifuged liquid hog manure. Methods examined included the use of dual anodes to provide both oxidizing intermediates from water electrolysis and a sacrificial input of iron into solution to remove organic constituents of hog manure by coagulation. The most promising approaches used a “dimensionally stable anode” composed of tin dioxide coated on a base of titanium, and the newly developed material boron-doped diamond, which has an exceptional stability to both oxidizing and reducing electrolytic conditions. These anodes promote the formation of hydroxyl radicals which initiate oxidation of organic constituents of the manure.  相似文献

Distributed Hash Table (DHT) based Peer-to-Peer (P2P) overlays have been widely researched and deployed in many applications such as file sharing, IP telephony, content distribution and media streaming applications. However, their deployment has largely been restricted to fixed, wired networks. This is due to the fact that supporting P2P overlays on wireless networks such as the public mobile data network is more challenging due to constraints in terms of data transmissions on cellular networks, limited battery power of the handsets and increased levels of node churn. However, the proliferation of smartphones makes the use of P2P applications on mobile handsets very desirable. In this article, we have analysed and evaluated the performance and efficiency of five popular DHT based structured P2P overlays (Chord, Pastry, Kademlia, Broose and EpiChord) under conditions as commonly experienced in public mobile data networks. Our results show that the conditions in mobile networks, including a high churn rate and the relatively low bandwidth availability is best matched by Kademlia and EpiChord. These overlays exhibit a high lookup success ratio and low hop count while consuming a moderate amount of bandwidth. These characteristics make these two overlays suitable candidates for use in mobile networks.  相似文献

The major factors affecting the removal efficiency of sulfamethazine (SMT) by photocatalysis process in the presence of TiO2 P25 or ZnO, namely the pH, the amount of catalyst and the initial SMT concentration were examined. The obtained results showed the absence of adsorption of SMT on the catalysts and the absence of degradation of SMT by direct photolysis under UV light in the absence of catalyst. The variation of the pH solution in the range 4–9 did not cause any significant degradation of SMT. The optimal amounts of each catalyst were, respectively, 0.5 and 0.25 g/L for TiO2 P25 and ZnO. Increasing the initial SMT concentration impacted negatively the removal efficiency, which decreased from 31% to 13% and from 100% to 27% in the presence of TiO2 P25 and ZnO in the presence of 10 mg/L and 50 of SMT after 30-min reaction time, respectively. The obtained results showed better efficiency of ZnO than TiO2 P25 regarding both removal efficiency and chemical oxygen demand (COD) abatement. However, removal efficiency and COD abatement were not complete, even after 7 h of photocatalysis, about 92% and 41%, respectively. The biodegradability was examined after photocatalysis performed in the following conditions: [SMT]0 = 50 mg/L, pH = 6, T = 25°C, ω = 360 rpm and 0.5 g/L of TiO2 P25 or 0.25 g/L of ZnO. In these conditions, the removal efficiencies were, respectively, 26% and 41% in the presence of TiO2 P25 and 55 and 92% in the presence of ZnO after 4 and 7 h of pretreatment times, respectively. The BOD5/COD ratio increased substantially and, respectively, from 0 to 0.25 and from 0 to 0.16 in the presence of TiO2 P25 and ZnO after 7 h of irradiation. Even if the limit of biodegradability (0.4) was not achieved, a subsequent biological treatment was considered in the presence of TiO2 P25, leading to 58% COD abatement after a 28-day culture.  相似文献

In this work, a small amount of CaO single dopant was adopted to realize the densification and microstructure control of fine grained YAG ceramic with excellent optical quality, by a simple solid‐state reaction and one‐step vacuum sintering method. Then, highly transparent YAG ceramics (T = 84.4% at 1064 nm) were obtained just after vacuum sintering at 1820°C for 8 hours. The average grain size was only 2.7 μm, when the total amount of CaO was as low as 0.045 wt%. The effect of CaO on the microstructural evolution and optical property of the as‐fabricated YAG ceramics was systematically investigated in detail. It was found that CaO dopant promoted both densification and grain growth of YAG ceramics when the sintering temperature was lower than 1660°C, however, it dramatically inhibited grain growth when the sintering temperature was further increased.  相似文献

This study describes the treatment of textile wastewater by various combinations of physicochemical and membrane processes. The basic physicochemical treatment consists in coagulation/flocculation (CF) with different coagulant and flocculant concentrations. The parameters analyzed prior and after treatment are turbidity, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and absorbance (Abs). The optimal process parameters for CF are 5 for pH, 100 mg/l for coagulant (Al2(SO4) 3) of 100 mg/l and 4 mg/l for flocculant. This simple treatment by CF was inefficient concerning COD reduction and dyes deterioration. It was therefore combined with microfiltration (MF) or ultrafiltration (UF) on one hand and adsorption on powdered activated carbon (PAC) on the other. The CF/MF, CF/UF and CF/PAC combinations ensure a COD removal of 37%, 42% and more than 80% respectively and a color reduction of 65%, 74% and 50% respectively.  相似文献

The aim of the present work is to study the electrolyte flow characteristics in a tubular reactor containing a volumetric electrode, acting as turbulence enhancer, applied in our previous works to copper removal by cementation process. The hydrodynamic behavior of the electrolyte within the reactor under study has been determined using the residence time distribution (RTD) experimentally determined by a pulse tracer technique.  相似文献

Using solid-state reactions and a combination of carbothermal reduction-nitridation with solgel processing, we have synthesized a number of oxynitride phases: Eu2+-doped Ca-sialons. We have measured the pulsed cathodoluminescence spectra of the synthesized powders under pulsed electron beam excitation and determined their emission parameters, including temporal emission characteristics.  相似文献

This article describes a work-in-progress in the framework of a research project aiming at combining requirements engineering methods with formal methods. The main idea is to extend the SysML language with concepts of existing requirements engineering methods. In this article we present extensions to SysML with concepts from the goal model of the KAOS method and we give rules to derive a formal B specification from this goal model.
