Strategic IT implementation decisions for major construction projects in Hong Kong are subject to various forces or factors identified in previous research—such as external forces, technological factors and organizational factors. The aim of this research was to examine the relationship (if any) between these families of forces and evaluate their impact, individually and collectively. A complex combination of several families of forces/factors that affect decision making was found to be ‘temporal’ with respect to project teams on major projects in Hong Kong. The research was underpinned by a broad questionnaire survey to establish ‘current practice’ before in‐depth analysis of the forces by means of a case study followed by interviews with industry leaders to confirm the results. It was found that respondents (n = 33) ordered cost, security and confidentiality as the most influential factors affecting IT implementation. A difference was found in the perceptions of ‘hired‐in’ project‐based staff in joint ventures and ‘permanent staff’ of single companies, the former evaluating IT performance more highly but evaluating the strategic use of, and user satisfaction with, IT significantly lower. The major constraint on IT implementation was found to be lack of budget, not cost per se. It is concluded that the temporal factors that apply to implementing innovative IT technology in project teams are relevant to different team members at different stages in the project life cycle and these factors are conditioned by a set of business conditions applying to project‐specific coalition organizations that are different from those that apply to single‐entity organizations. 相似文献

Magnetite nanoparticles with an average particle size of 28.8 nm were synthesized, coated with oleic acid, and characterized using various techniques such as DLS, FT‐IR, SEM, XRD, VSM, and UV‐Vis analysis. A nanofluid consisting of synthesized nanoparticles and 5 wt % acetic acid in toluene as the dispersed phase was prepared and used in the chemical test system, Toluene‐Acetic Acid‐Water, for the single drop extraction in the presence and absence of an external oscillating magnetic field. Influences of various operating and design parameters such as nanoparticle concentration, drop diameter, and the applied current and frequency on the overall mass‐transfer coefficients for the mass‐transfer direction from d→c were investigated carefully. The obtained results were used to propose a general correlation for the mass‐transfer enhancement. The development of desirable chemical structures and properties in nanocomposite membranes involve steps that need to be carefully designed and controlled. This study investigates the effect of adding multiwalled nanotubes (MWNT) on a Kapton–polysulfone composite membrane on the separation of various gas pairs. Data from Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy confirm that some studies on the Kapton–polysulfone blends are miscible on the molecular level. In fact, the results indicate that the chemical structure of the blend components, the Kapton–polysulfone blend compositions, and the carbon nanotubes play important roles in the transport properties of the resulting membranes. The results of gas permeability tests for the synthesized membranes specify that using a higher percentage of polysulfone (PSF) in blends resulted in membranes with higher ideal selectivity and permeability. Although the addition of nanotubes can increase the permeability of gases, it decreases gas pair selectivity. Furthermore, these outcomes suggest that Kapton–PSF membranes with higher PSF are special candidates for CO2/CH4 separation compared to CO2/N2 and O2/N2 separation. High CH4, CO2, N2, and O2 permeabilities of 0.35, 6.2, 0.34, and 1.15 bar, respectively, are obtained for the developed Kapton–PSF membranes (25/75%) with the highest percentage of carbon nanotubes (8%), whose values are the highest among all the resultant membranes. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Improving the colour fastness of dyed nylon‐6 fabric by graft copolymerisation and curing of acrylic acid 下载免费PDF全文
The influence of grafting and grafting–curing of acrylic acid on the colour fastness of nylon‐6 fabric dyed with an acid dye of low wash fastness was investigated. The variables involved in grafting were initially optimised for pristine nylon‐6 fabric prior to grafting the same monomer onto the dyed fabrics. The highest graft yield achieved for the pristine and dyed nylon‐6 fabrics was 44 and 14% respectively. Grey scale testing and colorimetric analysis revealed that the highest colour fastness and the smallest drop in colour strength belonged to the dyed–grafted–cured nylon‐6 fabric. The colour components were measured, and the total colour difference of each sample after five washing cycles was computed. The specific colour difference showed that the implementation of either grafting or grafting–curing processes will alter the reference colour of the dyed fabric. The tensile strength of the grafted and grafted–cured fabrics was respectively 2.7 and 6.3% lower than that of dyed nylon‐6. 相似文献

The demand for better structural performance in joining of components for road vehicles prompts the implementation of aluminum alloy friction stir welding technology in the automotive industry. The aim of current study is the creation of a 3-D finite element (FE) friction thermal model and stir welding (FSW) process of dissimilar aluminum alloy and for the estimation of crash worthiness performance of FSW fabricated shock absorber assembly. Thermo mechanical simulations and analysis are performed to understand the thermal behavior in the FSW weld zones. The developed models are correlated against published experimental results in terms of temperature profile of the weld zone. The developed models are then implemented for fabricating vehicle bumper parts to illustrate the performance of FSW welded components during an impact. Customary sled testing for low-speed guard necessities is performed utilizing a grating blend welded test apparatus at Wichita State University (WSU) at the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR). A few guard congregations are then appended to the test installation utilizing FSW and conventional Gas bend GMAW welding strategies. Numerical models are likewise created where limited component investigation is utilized to contrast the anticipated harm and the real harm maintained by both of the FSW and GMAW manufactured guards. During the research, a new FSW weld mold is created that allows for a better representation of the desired progressive crack propagation. The FSW fabricated bumper based on the Johnson-Cook failure model yields better failure prediction and is in good agreement to the test. The results from this study provide a guideline for an accurate finite element modeling of a FSW fabricated components and their application in the crashworthiness of such structural components. 相似文献

Vehicular Communication Networks (VCNs) are used to supply a communication platform for Intelligent Transportation Systems services also for value added services in different road systems. In comparison to other communication networks, VCNs come with major challenges: high mobility and velocity of vehicles that cause rapidly change topology of network and fast change of vehicle’s locations. Location information services (LISs) or location management systems (LMSs) are used to provide location information about vehicles such as current location, speed, direction and report this information to other vehicles or network entities that require this information. We present a survey for LISs in VCNs and introduce 11 approaches in literature. Moreover, we present a classification for LISs and compare mentioned approaches based on our classification. Reservoir connectivity is often an important consideration for reservoir management. For example, connectivity controls waterflood sweep efficiency and it affects decisions concerning well placement and spacing. The uncertainty of sandbody distributions, however, can make interwell connectivity prediction extremely difficult. Percolation models are a useful tool to simulate sandbody connectivity behavior to estimate interwell connectivity.This study applies a percolation method to estimate interwell connectivity. Using results derived by Andrade, King, and others for fluid travel time between locations in a percolation model, we develop a method to estimate interwell connectivity. Four parameters are needed to use this approach: the net-to-gross ratio psand, the typical sandbody size, reservoir length and well spacing. To evaluate this new percolation method, the results are compared to results from geometrical models, Monte Carlo, and reservoir simulation.These methods were applied to estimate interwell connectivity for three non-communicating stratigraphic intervals in Monument Butte oil field, Utah. The results suggest that the percolation method can estimate the probability of interwell connectivity reliably for thin intervals for any values of psand, well spacing, and reservoir length. The geometrical model also performs well, but can only be applied in fields where the well spacing is less than one-half of the sandbody size.The proposed method requires that the reservoir interval for evaluation be sufficiently thin so that 2D percolation results can be applied. For thick intervals or heterogeneous sandbody distributions, the percolation method developed here is not suitable because it assumes thin layers. Future percolation research will be needed to adapt this new method to 3D cases. 相似文献

An initial-boundary value problem that is Duffing’s oscillator with time varying coefficients will be studied. Using Banach’s
fixed-point theorem, the existence of periodic solution of the equation will be predicted. The method applied in this paper
is the Schauder second fixed point theorem, which includes the response of structures under vibratory force systems. As an
example, the dynamics of nonlinear simply supported rectangular thin plate under influence of a relatively moving mass is
studied. By expansion of the solution as a series of mode functions, the governing equations of motion are reduced to an ordinary
differential equation for time development vibration amplitude, which is Duffing’s oscillator. Finally, a parametric study
is developed, after that some numerical examples are solved, and the validity of the present analysis is clearly shown.

Abstract In order to evaluate the potential of microbial recovery in the Iranian Maroon oilfield, laboratory core flood tests were designed and conducted. The effect of biosurfactant production on the recovery of crude oil during waterflooding and the effect of bioproducts on wettability alteration of the cores was investigated. Three different kinds of microbes in two different kinds of growth media as nutrient media were studied. The results showed that the oil recovery was affected by adjustment time, source of carbon, type of microorganism, phosphorus and nitrogen quantity, and salt concentration. In addition, it was found that there are optimum values of adjustment time, phosphorus and nitrogen quantity, and salt concentration that maximize the oil recovery factor. The results of this work can be helpful for designing and developing successful microbial-enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) operations. 相似文献

Drug adhesion to the walls of an aerosol canister can be prevented/reduced by coating the canister with a hydrophobic polymer (e.g., a fluoropolymer). In this study, three batches of fluoropolymer-coated canisters were investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The EIS technique showed that only one of the batches presented as a monolithic, non-porous film. The other two batches were either partially porous or highly porous. Scanning electron micrographs showed evidence of cracks, within the films, but could not alone establish the porous nature of these defects. For the non-porous and partly porous films it was possible to use the EIS data to determine the approximate film thickness. Estimates of 2-4 µm were obtained for the mean film thickness. These values compared favorably with micrometer estimates obtained following acid dissolution of the aluminum canister. It remains to be seen whether the properties of the films (i.e., the porosity and film thickness, determined by EIS) translate to differences in drug adhesion. Nevertheless, the EIS technique was shown to be a powerful, non-destructive method that lends itself to the rapid analysis of batch-to-batch variation in film-coated canisters. 相似文献
