The study of grain size distribution and morphometric characteristics of synthetic and natural diamond grinding powders

The paper summarizes the results of a comparative study of grain size distribution and morphometric characteristics of synthetic and natural diamond grinding powders For the first time the morphometric characteristics of natural diamond grinding powders have been comprehensively identified and the uniformity of the powders have been quantitatively assessed by the system-criteria method.     

Model of Quasi-Isostatic Hot Pressing of SHS Products in the System Titanium ― Carbon ― Nickel. Part 1. Structural State and Rheological Model

Quasi-isostatic hot pressing of the products of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) is considered. The temperature regime, and the aggregate and structural state of the SHS products of the Ti ― C ― Ni system are studied. A block model of the deformed volume is presented; parameters of the virtual field of plastic flow velocities are determined and an energy equation in the form of a variation functional is determined. Rheological models of the non-linearly viscous SHS products and the rigidly-plastic loose shell are considered within which the dual mechanism of compaction and the local nature of dispersed material particle deformation are taken into account.

     

Connection between diamagnetic and physicomechanical properties of fibres

Conclusions Measurement of the diamagnetic anisotropy of man-made fibres permits one, in a number of cases where fibre defectiveness does not play a decisive role, to evaluate their strength in extension.The interconnection between strength and diamagnetic anisotropy, in the general case, is caused by their identical dependence on the mean degree of molecular orientation of the fibre-forming polymer, and also on the character of the chemical bonds in the main chains.Translated from Khimicheskie Volokna, No. 6, pp. 23–24, November–December, 1989.

The genetic sequelae for plant populations of radioactive environmental pollution in connection with the Chernobyl accident

Populations of Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh., and Pinus sylvestris L., growing within 30 km of Chernobyl and Bryansk region have been analyzed for the frequency of embryonic lethal mutations on Arabidopsis and frequency of chlorophyll mutations and chromosome aberrations by pine. On pine also have been analyzed rate of mutations at enzyme loci in endosperms of seeds. Dose dependence of the value genetic damage on level of radioactive pollution was observed.
