Carbon dioxide is regarded as an optimal working fluid for heat pump dryers. The transcritical cycle well fits the closed-loop drying process which requires dehumidification and re-heating according to high temperature lift of the air stream.In this paper, the transcritical CO2 cycle is compared with a sub-critical R134a cycle. The theoretical analysis is based on fixed temperature approach values at the heat exchangers. The study considers optimal high pressure for the transcritical cycle and optimal refrigerant subcooling for the sub-critical cycle. The theoretical analysis investigates the energy performance of the thermodynamic cycle as a function of the temperature and mass flow rate of the drying air. The optimisation of the operating conditions for CO2 involves lower air temperature than in the case of R134a; this conditions can be satisfied by a suitable design of the appliance, whose thermal balance is achieved when the dissipated heat corresponds to the work spent by the compressor and the fan; the air temperature is a floating variable that adjusts its value to comply with the thermal balance. Experimental results, conducted on a prototype, give a positive assessment for CO2 as working fluid for heat pump dryers: a negligible decrease in the electric power consumption, with a limited (+9%) increase in the cycle time, is shown in comparison with the reference R134a heat pump dryer.  相似文献

Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a diabetes complication which greatly impacts the patient’s quality of life, often leading to amputation of the affected limb unless there is a timely and adequate management of the patient. DFUs have a high economic impact for the national health system. Data have indeed shown that DFUs are a major cause of hospitalization for patients with diabetes. Based on that, DFUs represent a very important challenge for the national health system. Especially in developed countries diabetic patients are increasing at a very high rate and as expected, also the incidence of DFUs is increasing due to longevity of diabetic patients in the western population. Herein, the surgical approach focused on the targeted use of the acellular dermal matrix has been integrated with biochemical and morphological/histological analyses to obtain evidence-based information on the mechanisms underlying tissue regeneration. In this research report, the clinical results indicated decreased postoperative wound infection levels and a short healing time, with a sound regeneration of tissues. Here we demonstrate that the key biomarkers of wound healing process are activated at gene expression level and also synthesis of collagen I, collagen III and elastin is prompted and modulated within the 28-day period of observation. These analyses were run on five patients treated with Integra® sheet and five treated with the injectable matrix Integra® Flowable, for cavitary lesions. In fact, clinical evaluation of improved healing was, for the first time, supported by biochemical and histological analyses. For these reasons, the present work opens a new scenario in DFUs treatment and follow-up, laying the foundation for a tailored protocol towards complete healing in severe pathological conditions.  相似文献

This study investigated whether European, Mediterranean and natural landscapes might trigger identification responses among residents of Mediterranean Europe. The participants (N = 546) were students from three Italian and three Spanish regions who rated their level of place identification by looking at eight pictures of prototypical landscapes, each depicting a unique combination of attributes in a 2×2×2 research design (European/non-European, Mediterranean/non-Mediterranean and natural/built). The results confirmed both European and natural landscapes as stronger carriers of identification than non-European and built landscapes, respectively, whereas no differences emerged between Mediterranean and non-Mediterranean landscapes. The statistical analysis of two-way interactions showed the amplification effect of the combined European–natural landscape, whilst a less clear picture emerged from the other two interactions. These findings suggest that landscape images may be used to foster a more inclusive identity at the supranational level and thus increase the sense of belonging among European citizens.  相似文献

The evolution in time of the strength and porosity of mortars made with the same type of high-alumina cement and two different types of aggregate, calcareous and siliceous, is studied, and the effects of aggregate composition on both parameters are analysed. It is found that between strength and porosity a linear correlation exists. The effects of pore diameter on such correlation is investigated and it is ascertained that the best correlation can be obtained for total cumulative porosity. The results show that this correlation can be useful for the determination of compressive strengthin situ.
Résumé On étudie l’évolution dans le temps de la résistance et de la porosité de mortiers confectionnés avec le même type de ciment alumineux et deux types différents de granulats, calcaire et siliceux, et on analyse les effets de la composition du granulat sur les deux paramètres. On constate qu’il existe une corrélation linéaire entre la résistance et la porosité. On examine les effets du diamètre des pores sur une telle corrélation et on établit qu’on peut obtenir la meilleure corrélation pour la porosité totale. Les résultats montrent que cette corrélation peut servir pour déterminer la résistance à la compressionin situ.

This paper investigates the internal electric and magnetic field distribution and the specific absorption rate (SAR) values in a magnetic resonance imaging-based model of the inner hearing system exposed to 900 and 1800 MHz. The internal fields distributions were calculated using the Finite Integration Technique. The estimation of the field values was evaluated along lines passing through that target organ, specifically from the vestibular to the cochlear region and from the apex to the base of the cochlea. The specific findings are: 1) higher internal fields strength and SAR value in the vestibular region rather than in the auditory region, especially for the inner ear closer to the external source; 2) higher internal fields strength in the basal and apical region of the cochlea than in the middle one; 3) local differences in the internal fields distribution and SAR value, comparing the head models including or not the inner auditory system model; 4) results' variability evaluated by changing the head-source mutual position and the dielectric properties of the inner hearing system.  相似文献

The thermal stability of nitrogen (N) functionalities on the sidewalls of N-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes was investigated at temperatures ranging between 1000 °C and 2000 °C. The structural stability of the doped tubes was then correlated with the electrical conductivity both at the bulk and at the individual tube levels. When as-grown tubes were thermally treated at 1000 °C, we observed a very significant decrease in the electrical resistance of the individual nanotubes, from 54 kΩ to 0.5 kΩ, which is attributed to a low N doping level (e.g. 0.78 at% N). We noted that pyridine-type N was first decomposed whereas the substitutional N was stable up to 1500 °C. For nanotubes heat treated to 1800 °C and 2000 °C, the tubes exhibited an improved degree of crystallinity which was confirmed by both the low R value (I(D)/I(G)) in the Raman spectra and the presence of straight graphitic planes observed in TEM images. However, N atoms were not detected in these tubes and caused an increase in their electrical resistivity and resistance. These partially annealed doped tubes with enhanced electrical conductivities could be used in the fabrication of robust and electrically conducting composites, and these results could be extrapolated to N-doped graphene and other nanocarbons.  相似文献

S1P is the final product of sphingolipid metabolism, which interacts with five widely expressed GPCRs (S1P1-5). Increasing numbers of studies have indicated the importance of S1P3 in various pathophysiological processes. Recently, we have identified a pepducin (compound KRX-725-II) acting as an S1P3 receptor antagonist. Here, aiming to optimize the activity and selectivity profile of the described compound, we have synthesized a series of derivatives in which Tyr, in position 4, has been substituted with several natural aromatic and unnatural aromatic and non-aromatic amino acids. All the compounds were evaluated for their ability to inhibit vascular relaxation induced by KRX-725 (as S1P3 selective pepducin agonist) and KRX-722 (an S1P1-selective pepducin agonist). Those selective towards S1P3 (compounds V and VII) were also evaluated for their ability to inhibit skeletal muscle fibrosis. Finally, molecular dynamics simulations were performed to derive information on the preferred conformations of selective and unselective antagonists.  相似文献

Oocyte development and fertilization are largely influenced by the microenvironment of the follicular fluid (FF), and the exploration of its molecular/metabolic composition may help in improving in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes. Here, the concentrations of molecules related to oxidative stress/inflammation were measured in FF from follicles at oocyte retrieval during IVF. Here, the FF antioxidant potential was correlated with the number of retrieved/mature oocytes and the number of fertilized ones. FF collected from the follicles of normal fertilized oocytes presented an elevated antioxidant capability, lower levels of pro-inflammatory molecules (i.e., IL-6, IL-8, IL-12, TGF-β, and HIF-1α), and a higher IL-10 concentration. FF samples from follicles at oocyte retrieval that resulted in top-quality embryos displayed a peculiar antioxidant capability and a further decrease in proinflammatory molecules when compared with FF, giving rise to poor-quality embryos. Finally, pro-inflammatory molecules were lower and accompanied by a high antioxidant capability in samples giving rise to successful embryo implantation. The antioxidant capability and IL-10 displayed a good predictive ability for fertilization and embryo quality. Overall, our data showed the great influence of oxidative stress on the oocytes’ fertilization, and shed light on the importance of controlling the inflammatory and oxidative status of FF to obtain good-quality embryos with significant implantation potential.  相似文献
