Image displacement fields—optical flow fields, stereo disparity fields, normal flow fields—due to rigid motion possess a global geometric structure which is independent of the scene in view. Motion vectors of certain lengths and directions are constrained to lie on the imaging surface at particular loci whose location and form depends solely on the 3D motion parameters. If optical flow fields or stereo disparity fields are considered, then equal vectors are shown to lie on conic sections. Similarly, for normal motion fields, equal vectors lie within regions whose boundaries also constitute conics. By studying various properties of these curves and regions and their relationships, a characterization of the structure of rigid motion fields is given. The goal of this paper is to introduce a concept underlying the global structure of image displacement fields. This concept gives rise to various constraints that could form the basis of algorithms for the recovery of visual information from multiple views.  相似文献

This paper proposes a framework for the identification, assessment and analysis of the water–energy–food nexus at a basin scale. This methodology is applied to the Duero river basin in Spain to detect the most important conflicts derived from water, food and energy interdependencies. Some of the most important issues are the limitations posed by rising energy prices for irrigated agriculture due to modernization, limitations to water treatment, and the possible emergence of new water demands for energy by hydraulic fracturing for oil and gas and enhanced bioenergy.  相似文献

In some recent works (Reis 2011, Fermé and Reis, J. Philos. Log. 41, 29–52, 2012, Fermé and Reis, Rev. Symb. Log. 6, 460–487, 2013) two new kinds of multiple contraction functions have been proposed, namely the system of spheres-based multiple contractions and the epistemic entrenchment-based multiple contractions, as generalizations (to the case of multiple contraction) of the well-known classes of systems of spheres-based and of epistemic entrenchment-based (singleton) contractions. Additionally, a representation theorem for the class of epistemic entrenchment-based multiple contraction has been proposed, and it has been shown that the two newly proposed constructions are equivalent, in the sense that a multiple contraction function is a system of spheres-based multiple contraction if and only if it is an epistemic entrenchment-based multiple contraction. In this paper we present two axiomatic characterizations for those multiple contraction functions which differ from the one mentioned above and, in particular, make use of some more intuitive postulates.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to a comparative study of classifier combination methods, which have been successfully applied to multiple tasks including Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. There is variety of classifier combination techniques and the major difficulty is to choose one that is the best fit for a particular task. In our study we explored the performance of a number of combination methods such as voting, Bayesian merging, behavior knowledge space, bagging, stacking, feature sub-spacing and cascading, for the part-of-speech tagging task using nine corpora in five languages. The results show that some methods that, currently, are not very popular could demonstrate much better performance. In addition, we learned how the corpus size and quality influence the combination methods performance. We also provide the results of applying the classifier combination methods to the other NLP tasks, such as name entity recognition and chunking. We believe that our study is the most exhaustive comparison made with combination methods applied to NLP tasks so far.  相似文献

This paper reports a rare malformation syndrome which is observed in two sibs (brother and sister) of a family. It consists of nearly symmetric reductive defects of the limbs, flexon contractures of various joints, cleft lip and cleft palate, multiple minor abnormalities including capillary hemangioma of the forehead, hypoplastic cartilages of ears and nose, micrognathia, intrauterine growth retardation, and possibly mental retardation. Chromosomes of both parents and propositi are normal. Genetic data suggest autosomal recessive inheritance.  相似文献

Finnish has a very productive morphology in which a stem can give rise to several thousand words. This study presents a visual lexical decision experiment addressing the processing consequences of the huge productivity of Finnish morphology. The authors observed that in Finnish words with larger morphological families elicited shorter response latencies. However, in contrast to Dutch and Hebrew, it is not the complete morphological family of a complex Finnish word that codetermines response latencies but only the subset of words directly derived from the complex word itself. Comparisons with parallel experiments using translation equivalents in Dutch and Hebrew showed substantial cross-language predictivity of family size between Finnish and Dutch but not between Finnish and Hebrew, reflecting the different ways in which the Hebrew and Finnish morphological systems contribute to the semantic organization of concepts in the mental lexicon. An explicit time-stepping method is developed for adaptive solution of time-dependent partial differential equations with first order derivatives. The space is partitioned into blocks and the grid is refined and coarsened in these blocks. The equations are integrated in time by a Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg (RKF) method. The local errors in space and time are estimated and the time and space steps are determined by these estimates. The method is shown to be stable if one-sided space discretizations are used. Examples such as the wave equation, Burgers’ equation, and the Euler equations in one space dimension with discontinuous solutions illustrate the method.  相似文献
