The effects of pleuran, beta-glucan isolated from Pleurotus ostreatus, were studied in a model of acute colitis in rats. Pleuran was given either as a 2% food component or as 0.44% pleuran hydrogel drink over 4 weeks. Colitis was induced by intraluminal instillation of 4% acetic acid and after 48 h the extent of colonic damage and several biochemical parameters were examined. Pleuran supplementation both in food and in drinking fluid significantly decreased the disposition to colitis. The macroscopic damage score was reduced by 51% or 67% by pleuran diet and pleuran hydrogel drink, respectively. Pleuran did not influence the final body weights of rats but prevented significantly colonic wet weight increase which was observed in the control diet group. The enhanced activity of myeloperoxidase in the inflamed colonic segment was reduced by pleuran diets, reflecting decreased neutrophil infiltration. The colonic damage was accompanied by decreased activities of lysosomal enzymes--acid phosphatase and cathepsin D--in the control untreated group, whereas in the pleuran groups the decrease was significantly attenuated. Both pleuran regimens reduced the content of conjugated dienes in the colon, liver and erythrocytes. In contrast to this fact, activities of antioxidant enzymes in erythrocytes and the colon were not so greatly influenced. Significant increase was found only in the case of SOD activity in sham operated rat erythrocytes under influence of both pleuran regimes and in the case of GST activity in erythrocytes of pleuran hydrogel group. The mechanism of the described protective effect of pleuran is not yet fully understood. Airborne ultrafine particles (UFP) have been related to adverse health effects, but exposure in vulnerable population groups such as children is still not well understood. We aim to review the scientific literature regarding personal exposure to UFP in different microenvironments in populations until 18 years of age. The bibliographical search was carried out in July 2019 using the online database PubMed and was completed with references in articles found in the search. We selected the studies that used continuous counters and measured UFP levels in both specific microenvironment (houses, schools, transport, etc) and personal exposure. Finally, 32 studies fulfilled the criteria: of these, 10 analyzed personal exposure and 22 examined UFP levels in the microenvironment (especially in schools or nurseries (18/22)) and five in various microenvironments (including dwellings and means of transport, where exposure levels were higher). The characteristics of the microenvironments with the greatest levels of UFP were being close to heavy traffic or near cooking and cleaning activities. This review revealed the wide differences in exposure assessment methodologies that could lead to a lack of uniform and comparable information about the real UFP exposure in children. 相似文献

There is a considerable body of literature that has studied whether or not an adequately designed tax swap, whereby an ecotax is levied and some other tax is reduced while keeping government income constant, may achieve a so-called double dividend, that is, an increase in environmental quality and an increase in overall efficiency. Arguments in favor and against are abundant. Our position is that the issue should be empirically studied starting from an actual, non-optimal tax system structure and by way of checking the responsiveness of equilibria to revenue neutral tax regimes under alternate scenarios regarding technological substitution. With the use of a CGE model, we find that the most critical elasticity for achieving a double dividend is the substitution elasticity between labor and capital whereas the elasticity that would generate the highest reduction in carbon dioxide emissions is the substitution elasticity among energy goods. 相似文献

Large numbers of viruses are excreted in human feces and urine, which even at low concentrations may cause illness when ingested. Some of these viruses have not been traditionally monitored in terms of waterborne diseases and are considered emergent viruses, such as hepatitis E virus (HEV) and JC and BK polyomavirus (JCPyV and BKPyV). The high prevalence of human adenoviruses (HAdV) and polyomaviruses, which both show DNA genomes, in sewage from widely divergent areas has suggested the relevance of evaluating these viruses as possible indicators of viral contamination. The concentration of these viruses was analyzed in sewage and river water and after treatment in a drinking-water treatment plant including chlorination, flocculation, ozonation, and granulate active carbon (GAC) filtration. Samples of GAC-filtered water were collected before a second chlorination treatment. The river used as a source of fresh water presented an average concentration of 2.6 x 10(1) JCPyV and 4 x 10(2) HAdV GC (genome copies)/L. A removal of 2 logarithms (99%) of HAdV and JCPyV was observed in the drinking-water treatment plant. All the GAC-filtered water samples studied contained HAdV, with a mean value of 4.3 HAdV GC/L. HEV strains belonging to genotype 3 were frequently detected in low concentrations in urban sewage and in biosolids or sewage containing swine feces but not in the river water samples studied. The detection of viruses by molecular techniques is useful for genetically describe emergent viruses in community wastewaters and water supplies. Quantification of JCPyV and HAdV using quantitative real-time PCR (QPCR) may be useful for evaluating virus removal efficiency in water treatment plants and as an index of the virological quality of water and of the potential presence of human viruses. 相似文献

-C resonator circuit is proposed which is based on a new current-mode differentiating concept, compatible with low voltage and very high frequency operation.A prototype 4th-order 200 MHz band pass filter has been fabricated using a 0.8 m CMOS process and shows a side-band rejection lower than –80 dB. This response confirms the feasibility of the proposed resonator in very-high frequency applications such as IF band pass sections of RF front-end circuits. The filter consumes less than 5.5 mW from a 2.7 V supply and the measured dynamic range is 57 dB at IM3 of 0.5%, where the active area is 0.12 mm2. 相似文献

For manufacturing firms, the integration of advanced services into their customer offerings has become a crucial decision. Such commercial decisions require weighting the risks and rewards of implementing a business model based on advanced services. While academic experts acknowledge uncertainty of returns on investment despite potential advantages, research generally fails to address the challenge of calculating the actual risks involved in ‘servitization’. This paper seeks better understanding of managers’ risk perception and of servitization implications for strategic partnerships and network positioning, while considering the impact of factors such as entry barriers, technological knowledge and position in the supply chain (SC). Qualitative evidence is drawn from an industrial case study involving firms in the UK’s road transport industry: 14 in-depth interviews with senior executives from seven companies (manufacturers, operators, technology providers). During interviews, a payment card exercise measured risk perception and willingness to take strategic ‘make-or-buy’ decisions. Results suggest that implementing advanced services is perceived as a high-risk strategy, especially when firms lack in-house technological knowledge. However, collaborative strategic partnerships within supply chain networks can mitigate this risk and prove crucial to building entry barriers against external competitors. This paper proposes the direct connection of different configurations of resistive sensor bridges to a microcontroller without any intermediate active component. Such a direct interface circuit relies on measuring the discharging time of a RC network that includes the resistances of the sensor bridge. For quarter-, half-, and full-bridge circuits, we combine the discharging times to estimate the fractional resistance change x of the bridge arms. Experimental results for half- and full-bridge circuits emulated by resistors yield a nonlinearity error below 0.3%FSR (full-scale range) for x between 0 and 0.1 and an effective resolution of 11 bit. Measurements on two commercial magnetoresistive sensors yield higher nonlinearity errors: 1.8%FSR for an AMR (Anisotropic Magnetoresistive) sensor and 5.8%FSR for a GMR (Giant Magnetoresistive) sensor, which are mainly due to the nonlinearity of the sensors themselves. Therefore, the nonlinearity of the measurement is limited by the sensors, not by the proposed interface circuit and linearisation algorithm. 相似文献
