Infrared (IR) heating is widely used for thermoforming of thermoplastic polymers. The key benefit of radiation heating is that a significant amount of the radiative energy penetrates into the polymers thanks to their semi-transparency. For the case of heating unfilled semi-crystalline polymers, the relation between their microcrystalline structure and optical properties is the key to develop a predictive IR-heating model as microcrystalline structure introduces an optically heterogeneous medium. In this study, a relation between the microcrystalline structure of a polyethylene (PE) and its effect on the thermo-optical properties was experimentally analyzed considering a two-step analysis. At very first step, the relation was analyzed considering samples with identical thicknesses and different morphologies, characterized here in terms of degree of crystallinity (Xc (%)). Using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and integrating sphere, optical characteristics of the PE samples were analyzed in near-infrared (NIR) and middle-infrared (MIR) spectral ranges. The analyses showed that a slight variation in Xc (%) has a great effect on the optical characteristics of PE, particularly the transmission characteristics in NIR range. The wavelength-dependent effect of Xc (%) on the transmission behaviors opened a discussion about the fact that the microcrystalline structures -in particular spherulites or their substructures such as lamellae- are responsible for optical scattering. Using the optical properties obtained from the two-step experimental analyses, two different thermo-optical properties were calculated, namely extinction and absorption coefficients, and used as a numerical input for the parametric numerical studies. The numerical studies were performed using an in-house developed radiation heat transfer algorithm -RAYHEAT-. Both the experimental and numerical analyses demonstrated the importance of the optical scattering regarding the identification of thermo-optical properties, used as a numerical input for radiation heat transfer models.  相似文献

As the dependence on mobile devices increases, the need for supporting a wider range of users and devices becomes crucial. Elders and people with disabilities adopt new technologies reluctantly, a tendency caused by the lack of adaptation of these technologies to their needs. To address this challenge, this paper describes a framework, Imhotep, whose aim is to aid developers in the accessible application creation process, making the creation of user-centered applications easier and faster. Our framework allows to easily adapt the applications to the constraints imposed by the user capabilities (sensorial, cognitive, and physical capabilities) and device capabilities by providing a repository that will manage the compilation and deployment of applications that include a set of preprocessor directives in the source code. These directives are enhanced with concepts that are automatically adjusted to the current trends of mobile devices by using a Fuzzy Knowledge-Eliciting Reasoner. Our final goal is to increase the number of applications targeted to elders and people with disabilities providing tools that facilitate their development. The paper also describes the evaluation of both the accuracy of the fuzzy terms generated for mobile devices and the usability of the proposed platform.  相似文献

This paper focuses on a restrained concretization of the general NP-hard Container Loading Problem that arises from a real world application. This particular problem can be informally described as: given different sets of bins and boxes, find the packing of the boxes into the smallest number of bins obeying some additional restrictions on the placement. The mathematical programming formulation that appears to better model this application is the Three-dimensional Bin-Packing Problem (3D-BPP) which is no more than an extension of the classic Bin-Packing Problem to the orthogonal packing of solid objects.We present an alternative non-linear formulation for the 3D-BPP version as well as new designed heuristic algorithms (CPBOX and BOXCP) for the approximation of the optimal solution using boxes and bins of heterogeneous dimensions. Moreover, we also present a heuristic specifically designed to work under very particular storage application restrictions. The numerical results indicate that all of these new heuristics have good performance standards especially when applied to replications of real input data.  相似文献

This paper presents a parameterized shared-memory scheme for parameterized metaheuristics. The use of a parameterized metaheuristic facilitates experimentation with different metaheuristics and hybridation/combinations to adapt them to the particular problem we are working with. Due to the large number of experiments necessary for the metaheuristic selection and tuning, parallelism should be used to reduce the execution time. To obtain parallel versions of the metaheuristics and to adapt them to the characteristics of the parallel system, a unified parameterized shared-memory scheme is developed. Given a particular computational system and fixed parameters for the sequential metaheuristic, the appropriate selection of parameters in the unified parallel scheme eases the development of parallel efficient metaheuristics.  相似文献

Context

In software development, Testing is an important mechanism both to identify defects and assure that completed products work as specified. This is a common practice in single-system development, and continues to hold in Software Product Lines (SPL). Even though extensive research has been done in the SPL Testing field, it is necessary to assess the current state of research and practice, in order to provide practitioners with evidence that enable fostering its further development.

Objective

This paper focuses on Testing in SPL and has the following goals: investigate state-of-the-art testing practices, synthesize available evidence, and identify gaps between required techniques and existing approaches, available in the literature.

Method

A systematic mapping study was conducted with a set of nine research questions, in which 120 studies, dated from 1993 to 2009, were evaluated.

Results

Although several aspects regarding testing have been covered by single-system development approaches, many cannot be directly applied in the SPL context due to specific issues. In addition, particular aspects regarding SPL are not covered by the existing SPL approaches, and when the aspects are covered, the literature just gives brief overviews. This scenario indicates that additional investigation, empirical and practical, should be performed.

Conclusion

The results can help to understand the needs in SPL Testing, by identifying points that still require additional investigation, since important aspects regarding particular points of software product lines have not been addressed yet.  相似文献

Dengue fever dynamics show seasonality, with the disease transmission being higher during the warmer seasons. In this paper, we analyse seasonally forced epidemic models with and without vector dynamics. We assume small seasonal effects and obtain approximations for the real response of each state variable and also for the corresponding amplitude and phase via decomposition of the sinusoidal forcing into imaginary exponential functions. The analysis begins with the simplest susceptible-infected-susceptible (SIS) model, followed by the simplest model with vector dynamics, susceptible-infected-susceptible for hosts and uninfected-vector (SISUV). Finally, we compare the more complex susceptible-infected-recovered (SIR) and susceptible-infected-recovered for hosts and uninfected-vector (SIRUV) models and conclude that the models give basically the same information when we replace, in the SIR model, the human infectivity by a function of both human and mosquito infectivities.  相似文献

In order to properly function in real-world environments, the gait of a humanoid robot must be able to adapt to new situations as well as to deal with unexpected perturbations. A promising research direction is the modular generation of movements that results from the combination of a set of basic primitives. In this paper, we present a robot control framework that provides adaptive biped locomotion by combining the modulation of dynamic movement primitives (DMPs) with rhythm and phase coordination. The first objective is to explore the use of rhythmic movement primitives for generating biped locomotion from human demonstrations. The second objective is to evaluate how the proposed framework can be used to generalize and adapt the human demonstrations by adjusting a few open control parameters of the learned model. This paper contributes with a particular view into the problem of adaptive locomotion by addressing three aspects that, in the specific context of biped robots, have not received much attention. First, the demonstrations examples are extracted from human gaits in which the human stance foot will be constrained to remain in flat contact with the ground, forcing the “bent-knee” at all times in contrast with the typical straight-legged style. Second, this paper addresses the important concept of generalization from a single demonstration. Third, a clear departure is assumed from the classical control that forces the robot’s motion to follow a predefined fixed timing into a more event-based controller. The applicability of the proposed control architecture is demonstrated by numerical simulations, focusing on the adaptation of the robot’s gait pattern to irregularities on the ground surface, stepping over obstacles and, at the same time, on the tolerance to external disturbances.  相似文献

It is known that the dynamic equations of motion for constrained mechanical multibody systems are frequently formulated using the Newton–Euler’s approach, which is augmented with the acceleration constraint equations. This formulation results in the establishment of a mixed set of partial differential and algebraic equations, which are solved in order to predict the dynamic behavior of general multibody systems. The classical solution of the equations of motion is highly prone to constraints violation because the position and velocity constraint equations are not fulfilled. In this work, a general and comprehensive methodology to eliminate the constraints violation at the position and velocity levels is offered. The basic idea of the described approach is to add corrective terms to the position and velocity vectors with the intent to satisfy the corresponding kinematic constraint equations. These corrective terms are evaluated as a function of the Moore–Penrose generalized inverse of the Jacobian matrix and of the kinematic constraint equations. The described methodology is embedded in the standard method to solve the equations of motion based on the technique of Lagrange multipliers. Finally, the effectiveness of the described methodology is demonstrated through the dynamic modeling and simulation of different planar and spatial multibody systems. The outcomes in terms of constraints violation at the position and velocity levels, conservation of the total energy and computational efficiency are analyzed and compared with those obtained with the standard Lagrange multipliers method, the Baumgarte stabilization method, the augmented Lagrangian formulation, the index-1 augmented Lagrangian, and the coordinate partitioning method.  相似文献

Resource management is an important aspect to consider regarding applications that might have different non‐functional or operational requirements, when running in distributed and heterogeneous environments. In this context, it is necessary to provide the means to specify the required resource constraints and an infrastructure that can adapt the applications in light of the changes in resource availability. We adopted a contract‐based approach to describe and maintain parallel applications that have non‐functional requirements in a Computing Grid context, called ZeliGrid. To form the supporting infrastructure we have designed a software architecture that integrates some of the Globus services, the LDAP and the NWS monitoring services. Some modules that map the contract approach into software artifacts were also integrated to this architecture. This paper addresses the architecture and integration issues of our approach, as well as how we put the pieces together highlighting deployment and implementation details, which have to consider diverse aspects such as monitoring, security and dynamic reconfiguration. A team algorithm based on piecewise quadratic simultaneous Lyapunov functions for robust stability analysis and control design of uncertain time‐varying linear systems is introduced. The objective is to use robust stability criteria that are less conservative than the usual quadratic stability criterion. The use of piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions leads to a non‐convex optimization problem, which is decomposed into a convex subproblem in a selected subset of decision variables, and a lower‐dimensional non‐convex subproblem in the remaining decision variables. A team algorithm that combines genetic algorithms (GA) for the non‐convex subproblem and interior‐point methods for the solution of linear matrix inequalities (LMI), which form the convex subproblem, is proposed.
