The photocatalytic degradation of Alcian Blue 8 GX, a cationic copper phthalocyanine dye, has been investigated in aqueous suspensions containing the commercial catalyst TiO(2) P-25. The photodegradation of the organic molecule follows approximately a pseudo-first kinetic order, according to the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model. The effect of catalyst concentration, pH of the initial solution and the H(2)O(2) concentration upon the reaction rate was ascertained. It was shown that the photocatalytic degradation reaction can be mathematically described as a function of parameters such as pH, H(2)O(2) concentration and irradiation time, being modeled by the use of the response surface methodology. Optimized values for oxidizing agent, concentration, pH and UV exposure time for the studied system were determined.  相似文献

The fluorescence spectroscopy and in silico methods were used to evaluate the structural changes in bovine serum albumin (BSA) over a temperature range of 25–70 °C for 15 min. Experimental results indicated that the polypeptide chain rearrangements at temperatures higher than 40 °C lead to a lower exposure of hydrophobic residues causing the decrease in fluorescence intensity. The nonlinearity of the phase diagram indicated a sequential denaturation process involving several molecular species. The molecular dynamics simulations at the single‐molecule level showed the high stability of the BSA structure, compensating for the entropic costs associated with the prevalent helical folding.  相似文献

Contaminated soil and groundwater have been the subject of study and research, so that the field of remediation has grown and evolved, continually developing and adopting new technologies in attempts to improve the decontamination. The cleanup of environmental pollution involves a variety of techniques, ranging from simple biological processes to advanced engineering technologies. Cleanup activities may also address a wide range of contaminants. This article is a short analysis of the technologies for cleaning up groundwater and soil, highlighting knowledge and information gaps. Challenges and strategies for cleaning up different types of contaminants, mainly heavy metals and persistent organic compounds are described. Included are technologies that treat ground water contaminants in place in the subsurface and soil technologies that treat the soil either in place or on site in a treatment unit. Emerging technologies such as those based on oxidation–reduction, bioremediation, and nanotechnologies are covered. It is evident that for a good efficiency of remediation, techniques or even whole new technologies may be incorporated into an existing technology as a treatment train, improving its performance or overcome limitations. Several economic and decision-making elements are developed in the final part, based on the analysis carried out throughout the article. The work highlights the fact that excellence in research and technology progress could be attained by the development of technologies to deal more effectively and economically with certain toxic contaminants such as heavy metals, volatile organic compounds, and persistent organic pollutants, associated with optimization of technologies under field remediation conditions and requirements, improving capacity and yields, and reducing costs. Moreover, increasing knowledge of the scope and problem of equipment development could improve the benefits.  相似文献

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common cancer worldwide and the second most common cause of cancer-related death globally. This type of liver cancer is frequently detected at a late stage by current biomarkers because of the high clinical and biological heterogeneity of HCC tumours. From a plethora of molecules and cellular compounds, small nanoparticles with an endosomal origin are valuable cancer biomarkers or cargos for novel treatments. Despite their small sizes, in the range of 40–150 nm, these particles are delimited by a lipid bilayer membrane with a specific lipid composition and carry functional information—RNA, proteins, miRNAs, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), or DNA fragments. This review summarizes the role of exosomal microRNA (miRNA) species as biomarkers in HCC therapy. After we briefly introduce the exosome biogenesis and the methods of isolation and characterization, we discuss miRNA’s correlation with the diagnosis and prognosis of HCC, either as single miRNA species, or as specific panels with greater clinical impact. We also review the role of exosomal miRNAs in the tumourigenic process and in the cell communication pathways through the delivery of cargos, including proteins or specific drugs.  相似文献

The influence of the neutralization process after hydrothermal synthesis on the structure and morphology of titanate nanotubes was investigated by X-ray diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Well formed nanotubes were obtained during the hydrothermal treatment of anatase in highly alkaline conditions. Synthesis at 150 °C led to the formation of layered titanate structure with the general formula Na2−x H x Ti2O5·1.8 H2O, where x depends on pH. The tubular morphology is not dependent on the Na+/H+ ion exchange reaction.  相似文献

Neurons in the superficial layers of the superior colliculus are key elements in the visual system of rodents since they receive extensive afferent projections from retinal ganglion cells. The NADPH-diaphorase histochemical technique was used to detect differences in neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) in the superficial layers of the superior colliculus (sSC) of young adult (3 months) and aged (24 and 26 months) rats. The orientation of the dendritic processes of NADPH-diaphorase-positive neurons, cross-sectional area, and number of neurons per mm2 were analyzed. NADPH-d histochemistry revealed a high number of NADPH-d-positive cells in the stratum zonale and stratum griseum superficiale in adult and aged animals. NADPH-d-positive neurons were classified into the following morphological types: marginal, horizontal, pyriform, narrow-field vertical, wide-field vertical, and stellate. During aging, narrow field vertical and wide field vertical neurons present somatic atrophy and an increase in dendritic processes with dorsoventral orientation, whereas wide field vertical neurons show a decrease in those with lateromedial orientation. Marginal neurons undergo somatic hypertrophy at 26 months when compared with those at 3 months. The remaining types of neurons do not undergo size changes. Finally, the number of NADPH-d-positive neurons per mm2 in the various types of morphology does not significantly change with age. It is suggested to be likely that the aging process in the nitrergic neurons of the sSC does not lead to significant changes in the synthesis of NO from the constitutive NOS isoforms.  相似文献

Analysis 44:29–40, 2006), we consider in this article the two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics equations, we discretize these equations in time using the implicit Euler scheme and with the aid of the classical and uniform discrete Gronwall lemma, we prove that the scheme is H 2-uniformly stable in time.  相似文献

A large database (507 station-years) of daily suspended particulate matter (SPM) concentration and discharge data from 36 stations on river basins ranging from 600 km(2) to 600,000 km(2) in size (USA and Europe) was collected to assess the effects of SPM transport regime on bias and imprecision of flux estimates when using infrequent surveys and the discharge-weighted mean concentration method. By extracting individual SPM concentrations and corresponding discharge values from the database, sampling frequencies from 12 to 200 per year were simulated using Monte Carlo techniques. The resulting estimates of yearly SPM fluxes were compared to reference fluxes derived from the complete database. For each station and given frequency, bias was measured by the median of relative errors between estimated and reference fluxes, and imprecision by the difference between the upper and lower deciles of relative errors. Results show that the SPM transport regime of rivers affects the bias and imprecision of fluxes estimated by the discharge-weighted mean concentration method for given sampling frequencies (e.g. weekly, bimonthly, monthly). The percentage of annual SPM flux discharged in 2% of time (Ms(2)) is a robust indicator of SPM transport regime directly related to bias and imprecision. These errors are linked to the Ms(2) indicator for various sampling frequencies within a specific nomograph. For instance, based on a deviation of simulated flux estimates from reference fluxes lower than +/-20% and a bias lower than 1% or 2%, the required sampling intervals are less than 3 days for rivers with Ms(2) greater than 40% (basin size<10,000 km(2)), between 3 and 5 days for rivers with Ms(2) between 30 and 40% (basin size between 10,000 and 50,000 km(2)), between 5 and 12 days for Ms(2) from 20% to 30% (basin size between 50,000 and 200,000 km(2)), 12-20 days for Ms(2) in the 15-20% range (basin size between 200,000 and 500,000 km(2)).  相似文献
