The structure of gaseous counterflow diffusion flames perturbed with the addition of hundreds of ppm of prevaporized toluene is studied in two distinct flame environments: a blue methane flame stabilized on the fuel side of the gas stagnation plane and an incipiently sooting ethylene flame stabilized on the oxidizer side. The goal is to provide a well-defined testbed in terms of temperature–time history, major species and part of the radical pool, for the examination of reference fuels that are critical components of practical fuel blends. Gas samples are extracted from the flame with fused silica microprobes for subsequent GC/MS analysis and thermocouples and thin filament pyrometry are used to characterize the temperature field. Profiles of critical toluene pyrolysis products and stable soot precursors are compared with computational models using two semi-detailed chemical mechanisms. Results show that in the methane flame some oxygen containing radicals like O and OH are contributing early on to the toluene destruction path. In the incipiently sooting ethylene flame, the primary attack is from H alone. This finding confirms the different challenges that such flames pose to the validation of a chemical kinetic mechanism. The onset of toluene decay in these flames begins at relatively modest temperatures, on the order of 800 K. This reactivity is captured reasonably well by both chemical mechanisms in the methane flame, in the absence of reactants larger than C2, but not so in the ethylene flame, in the presence of a richer, more complex mixture. The aromatic ring opening mechanisms are not adequately modeled in either case. This discrepancy has implications for the modeling of practically relevant fuel blends with both aliphatic and aromatic compounds. The dominant species larger than toluene in the doped methane flame is ethylbenzene, which at least one of the mechanisms reproduces quite well. The largest measured species in the incipiently sooting flame is indene, whose concentration increase due to toluene addition is properly captured by one of the models. The experimental dataset reported here may help identifying future improvements to chemical kinetic mechanisms and complement other reactor datasets lacking the coupling of kinetics and transport of flame environments.  相似文献

In this paper, the interpolated bounce-back scheme and the immersed boundary method are compared in order to handle solid boundary conditions in the lattice Boltzmann method. These two approaches are numerically investigated in two test cases: a rigid fixed cylinder invested by an incoming viscous fluid and an oscillating cylinder in a calm viscous fluid. Findings in terms of velocity profiles in several cross sections are shown. Differences and similarities between the two methods are discussed, by emphasizing pros and cons in terms of stability and computational effort of the numerical algorithm.  相似文献

In this paper a mathematical model for studying the equilibrium problem of adhesive joints between FRP adherents is presented. In particular, double and single-lap joints, both in the case of normal and shear/flexure stresses are considered. The problem is non linear due to the cohesive constitutive law adopted for modeling the interface. On the contrary, the adherents are supposed to be indefinitely linear elastic.The possibility to uncouple the problem of shear/flexure from the extensional one, as well as disregard the mutual effects between the normal and tangential stresses acting at the joint interfaces is also assumed. As highlighted in literature, this hypothesis allows results which are sufficiently correct from a technical perspective when the mechanical characteristics of the adherents are almost the same, as supposed in the present paper. Within such a framework it is possible to trace back the examined equilibrium problems to those of simpler auxiliary structural schemes. A simple and efficient iterative procedure for solving the aforementioned problems is also proposed.  相似文献

This study presents a methodology to assess the possible benefits of the combination of wind energy with the still unexploited, but quite significant in Ireland, wave energy. An analysis of the raw wind and wave resource at certain locations around the coasts of Ireland shows how they are very low correlated on the South and West Coast, where the waves are dominated by the presence of high energy swells generated by remote westerly wind systems. As a consequence, the integration of wind and waves in combined farms, at these locations, allows the achievement of a more reliable, less variable and more predictable electrical power production. The resulting benefits are particularly clear in the case of a relatively small and quite isolated electrical system such as the Irish one. Here, in fact, high levels of wind penetration strongly increase the requirement of surplus capacity and cause a much lower efficiency for conventional thermal plants.  相似文献

The development of fast, reliable and culture-independent molecular tools to detect bacteria producing biogenic amines deserves the attention of research and ultimately of the food industry in order to protect consumers' health. Here we present the application of a simple, low-cost, fast and sensitive method to perform microdroplet-based multiplex PCR, directly on a food matrix, for the simultaneous detection of bacterial genes involved in biogenic amine biosynthesis. After inoculating wine with Lactobacillus brevis IOEB 9809, cell lysis and DNA amplification are performed in one single step, without preliminary nucleic acid extraction or purification treatments. The assay is performed in about 30 min, requiring 150 nL of starting sample and it enables the detection of down to 15 bacterial cells. With respect to traditional culture techniques, the speed, the simplicity and the cheapness of this procedure allow an effective monitoring of microbial cells during food-making and processing.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new MRAS method to estimate the mechanical quantities in a double fed induction machine. In the traditional formulation the integral term, introduced by the PI MRAS regulator, is canceled in the transfer function between the estimated and the real speed. As a novelty, an additional term depending on the reference rotor flux through a constant gain g is introduced in the adjustable model of the MRAS. This innovation restores the integral term in the transfer function. As a consequence, during the closed loop operation, the estimated speed does not exhibit anymore a steady state error. The influence of the inverter non-linearities and of the non-linear rotor brush resistance on the speed estimation is also discussed. Some experimental tests validate the proposed method.  相似文献

The purpose of this new study was to determine the types and levels of major phytochemicals (non-nutrients) and nutrients in the different tissues from vegetative and flowering Moringa oleifera L. an important multipurpose crop. Rhamnose and acetyl-rhamnose-substituted glucosinolates were found in all of the M. oleifera tissues with different profiles depending on the tissue. In addition the tissues of M. oleifera had a relatively complex flavonoid profile consisting of glucosides, rutinosides, malonylglucosides and traces of acetylglucosides of kaempferol, quercetin and isorhamnetin. Fatty acid profiling of the different tissues showed that leaves were rich in palmitic (16:0) and linolenic (18:3) acid whereas seeds were predominated by oleic acid (18:1). Roots were rich in palmitic and oleic acid, whereas stems and twigs predominately contained palmitic acid. Potassium, magnesium and calcium were the predominant minerals in all of the tissues. Low levels of selenium were detected only in whole seeds.  相似文献

A plug flow reactor (PFR) which permits the growth of bacteria in a microwave environment is described. The apparatus is used to analyse the effect of microwave radiation at the frequency of 2.45 GHz and at 37°C on the growth rate of three bacterial species: Bacillus clausii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus. The growth constant is determined for reacting mixtures irradiated with microwaves of different powers ranging from 0 to 400 mW. Analyses show that (a) the apparatus is able to perform the experimental runs maintaining an aseptic environment; (b) under the microwave power levels examined in the present study, no effects are detected for the Bacillus clausii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa species, while for the Staphylococcus aureus species, a few small effects are found (a minimum value of the growth constant at 200 mW and an increase of the constant between 200 and 400 mW). © 2009 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2010  相似文献
