Partial differential equations describing the transport of mass and electricity in the pores of the positive electrode of a lead acid battery were derived. The theory is based on exact transport equations and on the assumption that the solid porous matrix has a metallic conductivity. Volume changes in both phases are taken into account. Numerical solutions obtained on a computer are presented for the case where the influence of electrolyte between the electrodes can be neglected. The solutions depend on the product of electrode thickness times current density, and on the initial porosity. 相似文献

Knowledge of the association between cooking properties and endosperm hardness may help nutritionist and processors to select raw materials for preparing maize based food products, particularly those eaten as cooked dispersions. Seven commercial maize cultivars differing in hardness were selected to evaluate endosperm hardness on the kernels and some characteristics such as composition and hydration and cooking properties on the grits obtained from those maizes. Results show that the differences in endosperm hardness (directly related to grits protein content) can explain the differences in swelling and amylographic consistencies values. Cultivars with the hardest endosperm show the lowest values at high temperature. They also show the lowest amylographic consistencies. On the other hand softer endosperms present the highest swelling power and the highest amylographic consistencies. These differences are attributed to the restriction for starch swelling caused by the protein matrix. Endosperm hardness measurements and swelling power at 95 degrees C, can be useful to select cultivars that are going to be used to prepare maize based foods like atoles, polenta, etc. 相似文献

The study of hydration of expansive cement prepared from 64% portland cement clinker, 23% metakaolinite and 13% CaSO4.2H2O is described. It was found that in the course of a 10-day hydration period, all the gypsum entered the reaction with the formation of ettringite. In 7–10 days, after the termination of the expansion processes, typical stalk-like crystals were transformed into leaf-shaped or other formations. Ettringite was identified even after 4 months of hydration. Monosulphate (3CaO.Al2O3.CaSO4.12H2O) was found in none of the investigated high-expansion cement paste samples. 相似文献

The flow structure of a continuous‐flow reactor stirred by a Rushton turbine was investigated by laser Doppler velocimetry for two different mean residence time‐mixing time ratios. Velocity measurements were obtained for two inlet locations, corresponding to the incoming liquid stream being fed co‐currently or counter‐currently to the flow discharged by the turbine. In all investigated configurations and for all operating conditions, it was found that the flow disruption caused by the incoming liquid stream was observable mainly in the first vessel quarter, which followed the feed‐tube plane. From comparison of the velocities encountered in the various planes in the continuous‐flow reactor to the velocities of the batch reactor, it was also concluded that it may be possible to intensify the usage of the turbine‐stirred vessel by decreasing the characteristic times ratio, without considerable flow by‐pass and/or short‐circuiting problems. 相似文献

Summary The electrical conductivity of polyphenylacetylenes and polyhalophenylacetylenes was measured in dependence on the temperature and on the type of catalyst used for polymerization. The electrical conductivity increased with increasing temperature. The energy gap was calculated from the temperature dependence on the electrical conductivity; it decreased with increasing number of conjugated double bonds in the polymer chain and with the regularity of structure of the polymer. The number of double bonds, cyclization and configurations were determined by 1H and 13C-NMR. In polyphenylacetylenes only aliphatic carbons deriving from cyclohexadiene units were found but no such units were found in polyhalophenylacetylenes. By UV-vis measurement the number of conjugated double bonds in segments was estimated. The synthesized polymers were amorphous. Their molecular weight was between 2000 and 74.000. 相似文献

We propose a new entropy coding scheme, denoted in this paper as the UVLC (universal variable length coding). It is universal in the sense that its efficiency is close to one for a large class of images. The UVLC, when it is applied to block orthogonal transforms, processes groups of blocks at the bit level, using universal codes designed for binary memoryless sources. It can be used for every video coding application, from high definition TV (HDTV) to high quality videotelephony (above 2 Mbit/s) for transform or subband coding. We study the problem of minimizing the sum of a smooth convex function and a convex block-separable regularizer and propose a new randomized coordinate descent method, which we call ALPHA. Our method at every iteration updates a random subset of coordinates, following an arbitrary distribution. No coordinate descent methods capable to handle an arbitrary sampling have been studied in the literature before for this problem. ALPHA is a very flexible algorithm: in special cases, it reduces to deterministic and randomized methods such as gradient descent, coordinate descent, parallel coordinate descent and distributed coordinate descent—both in nonaccelerated and accelerated variants. The variants with arbitrary (or importance) sampling are new. We provide a complexity analysis of ALPHA, from which we deduce as a direct corollary complexity bounds for its many variants, all matching or improving best known bounds. 相似文献
