OBJECTIVE: To investigate factors affecting the nocturnal decrease in blood pressure. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study of 823 community-based untreated subjects aged > 20 years. Screening and ambulatory blood pressures were measured and the effects of age and the ambulatory blood pressure on the nocturnal decrease were examined. RESULTS: The magnitude of the decrease and the percentage decrease in the nocturnal blood pressure increased with increasing daytime ambulatory blood pressure and decreased with increasing night-time ambulatory blood pressure. Although the magnitude of the nocturnal decrease in blood pressure increased with increasing daytime blood pressure, the nocturnal blood pressure levels in hypertensives were still higher than those in normotensive subjects. The magnitude decreased with increasing age for men but not for women, whereas the percentage decrease decreased with increasing age both for men and for women. The SD of the 24 h blood pressure correlated strongly to the magnitude of the nocturnal decrease (systolic blood pressure r = 0.62, P < 0.0001; diastolic blood pressure r = 0.52, P < 0.0001), suggesting that the SD of the 24 h blood pressure is representative of the nocturnal decrease. A minimal nocturnal decrease was observed frequently in elderly normotensive men but infrequently in hypertensive individuals from the general population. A marked nocturnal decrease was observed frequently in hypertensive women aged > 70 years. CONCLUSION: Although the magnitude of the nocturnal decrease in blood pressure increased with increasing daytime blood pressure, the nocturnal blood pressure levels increased with increasing daytime ambulatory blood pressure. Therefore, the blood pressure in hypertensive subjects should essentially be lowered throughout the 24 h period. A marked nocturnal decrease in blood pressure in some elderly hypertensive women was observed without treatment. The nocturnal blood pressure levels of such subjects should be considered during treatment. 相似文献

We have demonstrated n-channel gallium nitride (GaN) MOSFETs using a selective area growth (SAG) technique and ion implantation on a silicon substrate. Both MOSFETs realized good normally off operations. The MOSFET using the SAG technique showed a large drain current of 112 mA/mm, a lower leakage current, and a high field mobility of 113 cm2/V . s, which is, to our knowledge, the best for a GaN MOSFET on a silicon substrate. 相似文献

CNSs AND OTHER Master's-prepared nurses are usually expected to lead research utilization (RU) efforts in organizations, but they often feel unprepared to do so. In this article, the need for clinical RU is discussed and ideas for implementation, using an adaptation of the Conduct and Utilization of Research in Nursing model, are described. The RU process is applied to research about once-a-day temperatures in afebrile patients. We have recently isolated a rat homologue of the Caenorrhabditis elegans lin-10 product. Although rat lin-10 is expressed in the cytosol and membrane fractions of various tissues, it is distributed only in the membrane fraction in brain where it is enriched in the synaptic plasma membrane and postsynaptic density fractions. We have isolated here a rat lin-10-interacting protein from rat brain and identified it to be neurabin-II/spinophilin, which has recently been isolated as a protein interacting with protein phosphatase I and F-actin. Neurabin-II/spinophilin is ubiquitously expressed but enriched in brain, especially in the synaptic plasma membrane and postsynaptic density fractions. Bay K 8644, an L-type Ca2+ channel agonist, was shown previously to increase resting sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) Ca2+ loss and convert post-rest potentiation to decay in dog and ferret ventricular muscle. Here, the effects of Bay K 8644 on local SR Ca2+ release events (Ca2+ sparks) were measured in isolated ferret ventricular myocytes, using laser scanning confocal microscopy and the fluorescent Ca2+ indicator fluo-3. The spark frequency under control conditions was fairly constant during 20 s of rest after interruption of electrical stimulation. Bay K 8644 (100 nmol/L) increased the spark frequency by 466+/-90% of control at constant SR Ca2+ load but did not change the spatial and temporal characteristics of individual sparks. The increase in spark frequency was maintained throughout the period of rest. The increase in Ca2+ spark frequency induced by Bay K 8644 was not affected by superfusion with Ca2+-free solution (with 10 mmol/L EGTA) but was suppressed by the addition of 10 micromol/L nifedipine (which by itself did not alter resting Ca2+ spark frequency). This suggests that the effect of Bay K 8644 on Ca2+ sparks is mediated by the sarcolemmal dihydropyridine receptor but is also independent of Ca2+ influx. Low concentrations of caffeine (0.5 mmol/L) increased both the average frequency and duration of sparks. Ryanodine (50 nmol/L) increased the spark frequency and also induced long-lasting Ca2+ signals. This may indicate long-lasting openings of SR Ca2+ release channels and a lack of local SR Ca2+ depletion. In lipid bilayers, Bay K 8644 had no effect on either single-channel current amplitude or open probability of the cardiac ryanodine receptor. It is concluded that Bay K 8644 activates SR Ca2+ release at rest, independent of Ca2+ influx and perhaps through a functional linkage between the sarcolemmal dihydropyridine receptor and the SR ryanodine receptor. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is known to be associated with a complex neuroendocrine activation, especially concerning sympathetic and renin-angiotensin systems, cortisol, atrial natriuretic peptide and endothelin. Results of our study show that the vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), also, is early involved in the neuroendocrine activation occurring in AMI. Plasma concentration of VIP, significantly increased in AMI patients within 6 hours after the onset of chest pain, soon decreased and remained below than normal along the first week. At the 14th day of the AMI, plasma levels of VIP returned into the normal range. A significant increase of VIP plasma concentration is detectable in the first hours of AMI in survived as compared with died patients. The phenomenon seems to be a suitable process to provide an endogenous support to the ischemic heart and to counteract the negative effects of other neuroendocrine activated factors. 相似文献

We have developed a capacitive fingerprint sensor chip using low-temperature poly-Si thin film transistors (TFTs). We have obtained good fingerprint images which have sufficient contrast for fingerprint certification. The sensor chip comprises sensor circuits, drive circuits, and a signal processing circuit. The new sensor cell employs only one transistor and one sensor plate within one cell. There is no leakage current to other cells by using a new and unique sensing method. The output of this sensor chip is an analog wave and the designed maximum output level is almost equal to the TFT's threshold voltage, which is 2-3 V for low-temperature poly-Si TFTs. We used a glass substrate and only two metal layers to lower the cost. The size of the trial chip is 30 mm/spl times/20 mm/spl times/1.2 mm and the sensor area is 19.2 mm/spl times/15 mm. The size of the prototype cell is now 60 /spl mu/m/spl times/60 /spl mu/m at 423 dpi, but it will be easy to increase the resolution up to more than 500 dpi. The drive frequency is now 500 kHz and the power consumption is 1.2 mW with a 5-V supply voltage. This new fingerprint sensor is most suitable for mobile use because the sensor chip is low cost and in a thin package with low power consumption. 相似文献

This paper proposes a loss minimum reconfiguration method by tabu search for an open‐loop radial distribution system with distributed generators. The problem is to find the optimal normal open sectionalizing switch positions which minimize the total distribution line losses subjected to the line/transformer capacity constraints and voltage constraint. Generally, the problem is mathematically formulated as a complex combinatorial optimization problem or mixed integer programming problem, and is solved by using mathematical programming method, heuristic algorithm, intelligent method, and so on. However, a satisfactory algorithm for power companies has not yet been attained in both computational burden and solution accuracy. Thus, in this paper, the authors propose a method to solve the above problem by using tabu search (TS). Reverse power flow caused by distributed generators can be included in the solution algorithm. TS is one of the meta‐heuristic algorithms, and sometimes has been evaluated to be better than genetic algorithm (GA) or simulated annealing (SA) from viewpoints of both computational speed and solution accuracy.
