In this paper, the authors report biplane computed cerebral angiotomographic findings in 5 cases of Moyamoya disease. The specific features of Moyamoya disease on the CT image were as follows: On the axial plane, the linear structures of the anterior half of the circle of Willis and the proximal portion of the middle cerebral arteries disappeared, and instead of these normal structures, irregular, tortuous or patchy high-density areas just like a "caterpillar" were shown in the basal cistern and medial Sylvian fissures. On the modified coronal plane, the supraclinoid internal carotid arteries and the carotid fork could be identified only with a difficulty, and abnormal, "nebular" high-density areas consisting of irregular, tortuous or patchy high-density vascular components became visible in the basal cistern extending to the basal ganglia. A modified coronal plane and intravenous minimum dose bolus injection method seemed to be more useful for the visualization of these specific features on the CT image. Even before carotid angiography, we can suspect Moyamoya disease for finding these specific features on the CT image. Carotid angiography has been the only method of diagnosing Moyamoya disease. Instead of this invasive examination, computed cerebral angiotomography is useful in detecting Moyamoya disease conveniently and non-invasively. Therefore, we may conclude that computed cerebral angiotomography is very useful method for screening and follow up study of Moyamoya disease.  相似文献

The decomposition characteristics of an artificial biogas, which is a mixture of CH 4, CO 2, and H 2 S, using a low‐pressure DC glow discharge have been investigated. It is found that H 2, CO, C 2 H 2, H 2 O, CS 2, and COS are produced from the artificial biogas in the glow discharge. About 65% of the hydrogen atoms in CH 4 are converted into H 2 at an input energy of 800 J, at which CH 4 is completely decomposed, and the decomposition characteristics of the artificial biogas are minimally dependent on the H 2 S additive. Further, H 2 S has a tendency to be decomposed earlier than the other components of the artificial biogas. When the glow discharge is generated in the artificial biogas with H 2 S, some of the carbon atoms are found to deposit on the electrodes and the wall of the discharge chamber. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The lipolytic and proteolytic activity of Penicillium camemberti PC TT033 and Penicillium roqueforti PR G3, cultured on the whey solids or simulated cheese media, were compared under several pH reaction conditions. Lipolytic activity was higher when both strains had been cultured on the whey medium than on the simulated cheese medium, whereas proteolytic activity was less influenced by the culture medium. The relationship between the reaction pH and these enzyme activities was dependent on the culture medium, which suggested that the expression level and balance of isozyme rely on the culture substrate.  相似文献

Low‐temperature anionic ring‐opening homopolymerizations and copolymerizations of two glycidol derivatives (allyl glycidyl ether (AGE) and ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether (EEGE)) are studied using a metal‐free catalyst system, 3‐phenyl‐1‐propanol (PPA) (an initiator) and 1‐tert‐butyl‐4,4,4‐tris(dimethylamino)‐2,2‐bis[tris‐(dimethylamino)phosphoranylidenamino]‐2Λ5,4Λ5‐catenadi(phosphazene) (t‐Bu‐P4) (a promoter) in order to obtain well‐defined functional linear polyethers and diblock copolymers. With the aid of the catalyst system, AGE is found to successfully undergo anionic ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) even at room temperature (low reaction temperature) without any side reactions, producing well‐defined linear AGE‐homopolymer in a unimodal narrow molecular weight distribution. Under the same conditions, EEGE also undergoes polymerization, producing a linear EEGE‐homopolymer in a unimodal narrow molecular‐weight distribution. In this case, however, a side reaction (i.e., chain‐transfer reaction) is found to occur at low levels during the early stages of polymerization. The chemical properties of the monomers in the context of the homopolymerization reactions are considered in the design of a protocol used to synthesize well‐defined linear diblock copolyethers with a variety of compositions. The approach, anionic polymerization via the sequential step feed of AGE and EEGE as the first and second monomers, is found to be free from side reactions at room temperature. Each block of the obtained linear diblock copolymers undergoes selective deprotection to permit further chemical modification for selective functionalization. In addition, thermal properties and structures of the polymers and their post‐modification products are examined. Overall, this study demonstrates that a low‐temperature metal‐free anionic ROP using the PPA/t‐Bu‐P4 catalyst system is suitable for the production of well‐defined linear AGE‐homopolymers and their diblock copolymers with the EEGE monomer, which are versatile and selectively functionalizable linear aliphatic polyether platforms for a variety of post‐modifications, nanostructures, and their applications.  相似文献

Prepolymerizations of 4,4′‐bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BMI), diallyl isocyanurate (DAIC), and melamine (ML) at 160–170°C and subsequent compression molding at 200–280°C yielded cured BMI/DAIC/ML resins with feed molar ratios of 4/1/1, 3/1/1, and 2/1/1 (BMI‐DAIC‐ML411, 311, and 211). Similarly, cured BMI/DAIC 1/1 and BMI/ML 3/1 resins (BMI‐DAIC11 and BMI‐ML31) were prepared. The FT‐IR analysis revealed that the maleimide and allyl groups were almost consumed for all the cured resins, and the hydrogen bonding interaction became stronger with decreasing BMI contents for BMI‐DAIC‐MLs. Based on the cured structures elucidated from the FT‐IR result, the numbers of multiple hydrogen bonds and cross‐linking covalent bonds (NMHB and NCB), and total cross‐linking bond energy (ETB) were evaluated to be 0, 7.92, and 618 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML411, 0.71, 7.81, and 627 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML311, and 0.95 mol kg?1, 7.61 mol kg?1, and 617 kcal kg?1 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML211, respectively. A higher order of glass transition and 5% weight loss temperatures for BMI‐DAIC‐MLs was 411 > 311 > 211 in accordance with a higher order of NCB. BMI‐DAIC‐MLs displayed a weak tan δ peak at 70–150°C due to dissociation of the hydrogen bonds. The flexural strength and modulus of BMI‐DAIC‐ML311 were higher than those of BMI‐DAIC‐ML411 in accordance with the difference of ETB. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Cortisol-producing adenoma (CPA) is composed of clear and compact cells. Clear cells are lipid abundant, and compact ones lipid poor but associated with higher production of steroid hormones. PRKACA mutation (PRKACA mt) in CPA patients was reported to be associated with more pronounced clinical manifestation of Cushing’s syndrome. In this study, we examined the association of histological features and genotypes with cholesterol uptake receptors and synthetic enzymes in 40 CPA cases, and with the quantitative results obtained by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis in 33 cases to explore their biological and clinical significance. Both cholesterol uptake receptors and synthetic enzymes were more abundant in compact cells. GC-MS analysis demonstrated that the percentage of compact cells was inversely correlated with the concentrations of cholesterol and cholesterol esters, and positively with the activity of cholesterol biosynthesis from cholesterol esters. In addition, hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL), which catalyzes cholesterol biosynthesis from cholesterol esters, tended to be more abundant in compact cells of PRKACA mt CPAs. These results demonstrated that both cholesterol uptake and biosynthesis were more pronounced in compact cells in CPA. In addition, more pronounced HSL expression in compact cells of PRKACA mt CPA could contribute to their more pronounced clinical manifestation.  相似文献

Emission of nitrous oxide (N2O) during biological wastewater treatment is of growing concern since N2O is a major stratospheric ozone-depleting substance and an important greenhouse gas. The emission of N2O from a lab-scale granular sequencing batch reactor (SBR) for partial nitrification (PN) treating synthetic wastewater without organic carbon was therefore determined in this study, because PN process is known to produce more N2O than conventional nitrification processes. The average N2O emission rate from the SBR was 0.32 ± 0.17 mg-N L−1 h−1, corresponding to the average emission of N2O of 0.8 ± 0.4% of the incoming nitrogen load (1.5 ± 0.8% of the converted NH4+). Analysis of dynamic concentration profiles during one cycle of the SBR operation demonstrated that N2O concentration in off-gas was the highest just after starting aeration whereas N2O concentration in effluent was gradually increased in the initial 40 min of the aeration period and was decreased thereafter. Isotopomer analysis was conducted to identify the main N2O production pathway in the reactor during one cycle. The hydroxylamine (NH2OH) oxidation pathway accounted for 65% of the total N2O production in the initial phase during one cycle, whereas contribution of the NO2 reduction pathway to N2O production was comparable with that of the NH2OH oxidation pathway in the latter phase. In addition, spatial distributions of bacteria and their activities in single microbial granules taken from the reactor were determined with microsensors and by in situ hybridization. Partial nitrification occurred mainly in the oxic surface layer of the granules and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria were abundant in this layer. N2O production was also found mainly in the oxic surface layer. Based on these results, although N2O was produced mainly via NH2OH oxidation pathway in the autotrophic partial nitrification reactor, N2O production mechanisms were complex and could involve multiple N2O production pathways.  相似文献

Summary The reaction of the carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt (Na-CMC) (degrees of substitution (DS) = 1.2) with N-hydroxysuccinimide (Su-OH) in the presence of 1-hydroxybenzotriazole and 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide (EDC) was carried out in water to obtain the Su-OH ester of carboxymethyl cellulose, Su-CMC, with the DS values of 0.19 – 1.04. N-Allylcarbamoylmethyl cellulose (Allyl-CMC), which was prepared from the reaction of Su-CMC with an excess amount of allylamine, was crosslinked by UV-irradiation. In addition, the photocrosslinked Allyl-CMC film was swollen with water to form a hydrogel having a relatively high water-swelling property, e.g., the degree of swelling (ds) was ca. 360% for Allyl-CMC with the DS of 0.93.  相似文献
