Physical wavelets are acoustic or electromagnetic waves, resulting from the emission of a time signal by a localized acoustic or electromagnetic source moving along an arbitrary trajectory in space. Thus, they are localized solutions of the wave equation or Maxwell's equations. Under suitable conditions, such wavelets can be used as “basis” functions, to construct general acoustic or electromagnetic waves. This gives a local alternative to the construction of such waves in terms of (nonlocal) plane waves, via Fourier transforms. We give a brief, self-contained introduction to physical wavelets, and apply them to remote sensing. We define the ambiguity functional, generalization of the radar and sonar ambiguity functions, which applies not only to wideband signals, but also to targets and radar platforms executing arbitrary nonlinear motions  相似文献

Traditional speech processing methods for laryngeal pathology assessment assume linear speech production with measures derived from an estimated glottal flow waveform. They normally require the speaker to achieve complete glottal closure, which for many vocal fold pathologies cannot be accomplished. To address this issue, a nonlinear signal processing approach is proposed which does not require direct glottal flow waveform estimation. This technique is motivated by earlier studies of airflow characterization for human speech production. The proposed nonlinear approach employs a differential Teager energy operator and the energy separation algorithm to obtain formant AM and FM modulations from filtered speech recordings. A new speech measure is proposed based on parameterization of the autocorrelation envelope of the AM response. This approach is shown to achieve impressive detection performance for a set of muscular tension dysphonias. Unlike flow characterization using numerical solutions of Navier-Stokes equations, this method is extremely computationally attractive, requiring only a small time window of speech samples. The new noninvasive method shows that a fast, effective digital speech processing technique can be developed for vocal fold pathology assessment without the need for direct glottal flow estimation or complete glottal closure by the speaker. The growth structure of MgF2 and NdF3 films grown on polished CaF2(111) substrates deposited by molecular beam deposition has been investigated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of microfractographical and surface replications as well as cross-sectional TEM, atomic force microscopy, packing density, and absorption measurements. It has been shown that by taking advantage of ultrahigh vacuum environments and a special stratification property of MgF2 and NdF3 films, the preparation of nanocrystalline films of high packing density and low optical absorption is possible at a substrate temperature of 425 K.  相似文献

This paper describes techniques for the design of high-resolution oversampling analog-to-digital converters based on current memories. A key point is the reduction of nonlinearities, in particular those introduced by the current switches. A current-memory cell with very high precision and linearity has been designed and used in an experimental third-order Σ-δ modulator in a 0.8-μm digital CMOS process. A linearity of better than 14 b and a maximum signal-to-noise+distortion ratio (SNDR) of 80 dB has been measured for an oversampling ratio (OSR) of 64  相似文献

An environment is described, called Professor Marvel, that provides early error checking and answers questions about the program under development. The environment has a certain understanding of the systems being developed and how to use tools to produce software. It aids individual programmers and helps coordinate programming teams. The key components of Marvel are a database that stores data represented as objects, as in object-oriented languages, and a model of the development process that imposes a structure on programming activities. The stability of a cracked, nonlinear component connected to an elastic structure and subjected to an arbitrary number of controlled loads or displacements, is discussed. First this is done with a general instability criterion expressed in terms of loads and displacements of the cracked part. Then general expressions for the tearing modulus are given for different loading situations. Finally the given equations are applied to SEN specimens under bending and tension.

Contends that tests in repeated-measures designs based on MANOVA are free of sphericity assumptions, and with modern computing software, MANOVA is straightforward to use, even for complex designs and nontraditional hypotheses. A general strategy for implementing MANOVA within statistical computing packages is presented. Regular (preplanned) tests and simultaneous (post hoc) tests are illustrated for a variety of designs and hypotheses. Optimal contrasts for unbalanced repeated measures designs are appended. Ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis controls the abundance of many cell cycle regulatory proteins. Recent work in Saccharomyces cerevisiae suggests that a complex consisting of Cdc53, Skp1, and a third component known as an F-box protein (termed SCF) in combination with Cdc34 specifically targets regulatory proteins for degradation, and that substrate specificity is likely to be mediated by the F-box subunit. A screen for genetic interactions with a cdc34 mutation yielded MET30, which encodes an F-box protein. MET30 is an essential gene required for cell cycle progression and met30 mutations interact genetically with mutations in SCF components. Furthermore, physical interactions between Met30, Cdc53, Cdc34, and Skp1 in vivo provide evidence for an SCFMet30 complex. We demonstrate the involvement of Met30 in the degradation of the Cdk-inhibitory kinase Swe1. Swe1 is stabilized in met30 mutants and GST-Met30 pull-down experiments reveal that Met30 specifically binds Swe1 in vivo. Furthermore, extracts prepared from cdc34 or met30 mutants are defective in polyubiquitination of Swe1. Taken together, these data suggest that SCF-mediated proteolysis may contribute to the regulation of entry into mitosis. Our data, in combination with previously published results, also provide evidence for distinct SCF complexes in vivo and support the idea that their F-box subunits mediate SCF substrate specificity.  相似文献
