We have studied temperature variations on two submicrometric dissipative structures with two different techniques. On one hand, we have used a thermoreflectance imaging technique which is a well-known non contact optical method to evaluate temperature variations but whose spatial resolution is limited by diffraction. On the other hand, we have used a scanning thermal microscope (SThM) to study the thermal behaviour of these small dissipative structures. We present qualitative results obtained by both methods and we compare their advantages and drawbacks in terms of calibration and spatial resolution for thermal measurements on microelectronic devices. In particular, we show how the thermoreflectance coefficient can become an advantage to enhance the image contrast and favour the spatial resolution.  相似文献

Handovers may cause delays and packet losses that affect real-time communication performance. Mobility protocols at several layers are designed to support handover, but they need to be optimized to ensure high-quality application performance. Existing optimization techniques are not sufficient to take care of interdomain and intertechnology handovers involving different access technologies, such as Wi-Fi, GSM, CDMA, and WiMAX. We categorize several types of handover, describe handover delay components, and propose a handover optimization framework called media independent pre-authentication that can provide optimizations for interdomain and intertechnology handover in a manner that is transparent to mobility management protocols. In addition, we also present experimental results demonstrating that this framework can achieve a significant reduction in handover delays for both network-layer and application-layer mobility management protocols.  相似文献

This letter presents the design, fabrication, and demonstration of a CMOS/microelectromechanical system (MEMS) electrostatically self-excited resonator based on a submicrometer-scale cantilever with ~1 ag/Hz mass sensitivity. The mechanical resonator is the frequency-determining element of an oscillator circuit monolithically integrated and implemented in a commercial 0.35 mum CMOS process. The oscillator is based on a Pierce topology adapted for the MEMS resonator that presents a mechanical resonance frequency of ~6 MHz, a relative low quality factor of 100, and a large motional resistance of ~25 M. The MEMS oscillator has a frequency stability of ~1.6 Hz resulting in a mass resolution of ~1 ag (1 ag = 10-18 g in air conditions.  相似文献

A novel GaAs logic family, pseudodynamic latched logic (PDLL), is presented in this paper. It is composed of a dynamic circuit where the logic is performed and a static latch whose function is to permanently refresh the stored data on a dynamic node. Because of this hybrid structure, PDLL takes advantage of both static and dynamic families and thus, permits implementation of very complex structures with good speed-area power tradeoff. Moreover, the inclusion of the latch permits this class of logic family to be highly efficient for pipelined systems working even at high temperature without loss of data due to leakage currents. Barrel-shifters, programmable logic arrays (PLA's), and carry lookahead adders (CLA's) were verified by simulations demonstrating its feasibility for the development of high-performance very large scale integration (VLSI) systems  相似文献

A new single-stage high-power-factor electronic ballast based on a flyback converter is presented in this paper. The ballast is able to supply a fluorescent lamp assuring a high-input power factor for the utility line. Other features are lamp power regulation against line voltage variations and low lamp current crest factor, both assuring long lamp life. The ballast is analyzed at steady-state operation, and design equations and characteristics are obtained. Also, a procedure for the ballast design is presented. Finally, simulation and experimental results from a laboratory prototype are shown  相似文献

In this paper, the architecture and the implementation of a complex fast Fourier transform (CFFT) processor using 0.6 μm gallium arsenide (GaAs) technology are presented. This processor computes a 1024-point FFT of 16 bit complex data in less than 8 μs, working at a frequency beyond 700 MHz, with a power consumption of 12.5 W. The architecture of the processor is based on the COordinate Rotation DIgital Computer (CORDIC) algorithm, which avoids the use of conventional multiplication-and-accumulation (MAC) units, but evaluates the trigonometric functions using only add and shift operations, Improvements to the basic CORDIC architecture are introduced in order to reduce the area and power of the processor. This together with the use of pipelining and carry save adders produces a very regular and fast processor, The CORDIC units were fabricated and tested in order to anticipate the final performance of the processor. This work also demonstrates the maturity of GaAs technology for implementing ultrahigh-performance signal processors  相似文献

An algorithm for calculating the 2D cosine transform of a Toeplitz matrix is presented. The algorithm is based on the application of 1D cosine transforms. More specifically, four 1D cosine transforms of size N are needed to obtain the transform of a Toeplitz matrix of size N×N. This is an improvement over previously published algorithms. Acidic and basic fibroblast growth factors are mitogenic polypeptides that are overexpressed in pancreatic cancer. To determine whether fibroblast growth factors may exert direct effects on pancreatic cancer cells in vivo, we compared the expression of the high-affinity type I fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR-1) in human pancreatic tissues. In the normal pancreas, FGFR-1 immunostaining was seen mainly in acinar cells. In pancreatic cancers, FGFR-1 was abundant in ductal-like cancer cells which also exhibited many FGFR-1 mRNA in situ hybridization grains. Analysis by the polymerase chain reaction and RNase protection revealed that the 2-immunoglobulin-like and the 3-immunoglobulin-like forms of FGFR-1 were expressed in all tissue samples, and that the 2-immunoglobulin-like form was overexpressed in the cancer tissues by comparison with the normal tissues. These findings suggest that the 2-immunoglobulin-like form of FGFR-1 may contribute to aberrant autocrine and paracrine pathways in pancreatic cancer.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Biological systems that show threshold phenomena are candidates for stochastic resonance as a mechanism to explain what appears to be biovariability. Stochastic resonance is the amplification of weak signals by noise. OBJECTIVE: This review discusses the areas of contact dermatitis in which threshold events have been documented. The purpose is to point out the mechanism by which stochastic resonance may affect patch test results. METHODS: A literature review technique was used. RESULTS: The recent finding of a neurological influence on contract dermatitis provides a mechanism for stochastic resonance to affect patch test results. CONCLUSION: Stochastic resonance is likely to affect patch test results when more than one patch test result is positive.  相似文献
