An atomic representation of a Herbrand model (ARM) is a finite set of (not necessarily ground) atoms over a given Herbrand universe. Each ARM represents a possibly infinite Herbrand interpretation. This concept has emerged independently in different branches of computer science as a natural and useful generalization of the concept of finite Herbrand interpretation. It was shown that several recursively decidable problems on finite Herbrand models (or interpretations) remain decidable on ARMs.The following problems are essential when working with ARMs: Deciding the equivalence of two ARMs, deciding subsumption between ARMs, and evaluating clauses over ARMs. These problems were shown to be decidable, but their computational complexity has remained obscure so far. The previously published decision algorithms require exponential space. In this paper, we prove that all mentioned problems are coNP-complete. 相似文献

A new combination of coding methods for a 64 kbit/s transmission system for typical videophone situations is investigated. The codec structure is based on a standard hybrid discrete cosine transform (DCT) codec with temporal prediction. The picture is divided blockwise into changed and unchanged areas. One motion vector with subpel accuracy is computed and transmitted for each block of the changed area. For the forward analysis, the prediction error is calculated in the whole picture. Only the blocks with the highest prediction errors are updated by a DCT with a perception adaptive quantization. The number of DCT update blocks depends on the remaining bits after the transmission of the overhead information. The codec is controlled by a forward analysis of the prediction error and is not based on a buffer control. The spatial resolution of the source signal is reduced in two steps to prevent a codec overload caused by too much activity between two frames. 相似文献

Mechanical testing of high-performance ceramics with tensile specimens Mechanical properties of engineering ceramics are often measured in bending. The principal limitations of these tests are discussed for linear-elastic and plastic material behaviour. From this the requirement of tensile tests is derived. For room temperature fatigue tests an optimized concept of gripping round specimens is presented. High temperature tests are performed with flat specimens allowing static and quasistatic experiments with continuous strain measurement up to ca. 1400 °C. MS Binding Assays are a label‐free alternative to radioligand binding assays. They provide basically the same capabilities as the latter, but an unlabeled reporter ligand is used instead of a radioligand. The study presented herein describes the development of MS Binding Assays that address D1 and D5 dopamine receptors. A highly sensitive, rapid and robust LC–ESI‐MS/MS quantification method for the selective D1 dopamine receptor antagonist SCH23390 ((5R)‐8‐chloro‐3‐methyl‐5‐phenyl‐1,2,4,5‐tetrahydro‐3‐benzazepin‐7‐ol) was established and validated, using its 8‐bromo analogue SKF83566 as an internal standard. This quantification method proved to be suitable for the characterization of SCH23390 binding to human D1 and D5 receptors. Following the concept of MS Binding Assays, saturation experiments for D1 and D5 receptors were performed, as well as competition experiments for D1 receptors. The results obtained are in good agreement with results from radioligand binding assays and therefore indicate that the established MS Binding Assays addressing D1 and D5 receptors are well‐suited substitutes for radioligand binding assays, the technique that has so far dominated affinity determinations toward these targets. 相似文献

Fingolimod, an oral sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) receptor modulator, is approved for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). The interference with S1P signaling leads to retention particularly of chemokine receptor-7 (CCR7) expressing T cells in lymph nodes. The immunological basis of varicella zoster virus (VZV) infections during fingolimod treatment is unclear. Here, we studied the dynamics of systemic and intrathecal immune responses associated with symptomatic VZV reactivation including cessation of fingolimod and initiation of antiviral therapy. Key features in peripheral blood were an about two-fold increase of VZV-specific IgG at diagnosis of VZV reactivation as compared to the previous months, a relative enrichment of effector CD4+ T cells (36% versus mean 12% in controls), and an accelerated reconstitution of absolute lymphocytes counts including a normalized CD4+/CD8+ ratio and reappearance of CCR7+ T cells. In cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) the lymphocytic pleocytosis and CD4+/CD8+ ratios at diagnosis of reactivation and after nine days of fingolimod discontinuation remained unchanged. During this time CCR7+ T cells were not observed in CSF. Further research into fingolimod-associated VZV reactivation and immune reconstitution is mandatory to prevent morbidity and mortality associated with this potentially life-threatening condition. 相似文献

Multiphoton laser scanning microscopy commonly relies on bulky and expensive femtosecond lasers. We integrated a novel minimal‐footprint Ti:sapphire oscillator, pumped by a frequency‐doubled distributed Bragg reflector tapered diode laser, into a clinical multiphoton tomograph and evaluated its imaging capability using different biological samples, i.e. cell monolayers, corneal tissue, and human skin. With the novel laser, the realization of very compact Ti:sapphire‐based systems for high‐quality multiphoton imaging at a significantly size and weight compared to current systems will become possible.
