A new signal processing method is developed for estimating the skew angle in text document images. Detection of the skew angle is an important step in text processing tasks such as optical character recognition (OCR) and computerized filing. Based on a recently introduced multiline-fitting algorithm, the proposed method reformulates the skew detection problem into a special parameter-estimation framework such that a signal structure similar to the one in the field of sensor array processing is obtained. In this framework, straight lines in an image are modeled as wavefronts of propagating planar waves. Certain measurements are defined in this virtual propagation environment such that the large amount of coherency that exists between the locations of the pixels on parallel lines is exploited to enhance a subspace in the space spanned by the measurements. The well-studied techniques of sensor array processing (e.g., the ESPRIT algorithm) are then exploited to produce a closed form and high-resolution estimate for the skew angle.  相似文献

In the present work, compressive strength of geopolymers made from seeded fly ash and rice husk–bark ash has been predicted by adaptive network-based fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS). Different specimens, made from a mixture of fly ash and rice husk–bark ash in fine and coarse forms and a mixture of water glass and NaOH mixture as alkali activator, were subjected to compressive strength tests at 7 and 28 days of curing. The curing regimes were different: one set of the specimens were cured in water at room temperature until 7 and 28 days and the other sets were oven-cured for 36 h at the range of 40–90°C and then cured at room temperature until 7 and 28 days. A model based on ANFIS for predicting the compressive strength of the specimens has been presented. To build the model, training and testing using experimental results from 120 specimens were conducted. The used data as the inputs of ANFIS models are arranged in a format of six parameters that cover the percentage of fine fly ash in the ashes mixture, the percentage of coarse fly ash in the ashes mixture, the percentage of fine rice husk–bark ash in the ashes mixture, the percentage of coarse rice husk–bark ash in the ashes mixture, the temperature of curing, and the time of water curing. According to these input parameters in the ANFIS models, the compressive strength of each specimen was predicted. The training and testing results in ANFIS models showed a strong potential for predicting the compressive strength of the geopolymeric specimens.  相似文献

A new and very promising application of auto‐thermal reactors is the coupling of endothermic and exothermic reactions where the product of the endothermic reaction is the desired one. Therefore, in this work, a reactor in which oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) and steam re‐forming of methane (SRM) reactions take place simultaneously was modeled. The results were obtained in a wide range of different conditions such as inlet feed, inlet temperature, portions of OCM and SRM catalysts, and inlet velocity. In selection of the catalysts, more attention was drawn to prevent re‐forming of OCM products. The main parameters of each reaction under different conditions such as conversion of the feed components, products selectivity and yield, temperature in the length of reactor, and component's concentration in the reactor were considered in course of this study. The results revealed that simultaneous OCM and SRM reactions in one reactor will tend to be auto‐thermal, and the waste of energy will be reduced. The results also show that complete conversion of water and majority of methane and oxygen will decrease the amount of unwanted products at the reactor's discharge–a constraint that exists in single reactors of each reaction specially OCM. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are commonly used in biosensors of various kinds. However, its application to extract DNA from cancer tissues has not been extensively studied. The purification of DNA from cancer tissues is an important step in diagnostic and therapeutic development. Almost, all cervical cancer cases are associated with high‐risk human papillomavirus (HR‐HPV) infection. Accurate viral diagnosis has so far relied on the extraction of adequate amounts of DNA from formalin‐fixed, paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) tissue samples. Till now, no specific and sensitive DNA purification method has been introduced for the extraction of HR‐HPV from FFPE tissue. Since the commercially available purification kits are not sensitive and specific enough for HR‐HPV DNA targets, in this study, a DNA purification method was designed based on AuNPs to purify sufficient amounts of HR‐HPV DNA from cervical cancer tissue samples. AuNPs were coated with a series of oligonucleotide probes to hybridize to specific DNA sequences of HR‐HPV genotypes. Results showed that 733 out of 800 copies of type‐specific HPV DNA were recovered with complete specificity, compared to 36 copies with a standard commercial kit (Qiagen FFPE). Through this study, a method is presented to estimate moment-rotation (M-) curve of I beam-to-the concrete filled tube (CFT) connections. This method is based on the components method in which components are analyzed and modeled as different mechanical models. These components are considered as springs with specific mechanical properties of stiffness, strength, and rigid bars. Their force-displacement relationship is assumed bi-linear and 3-linear. The connection behavior is assumed through assembling the stiffness of different components. In this study, connection of I beam-to-CFT column with bolted endplate connection under monotonic loading, which has been tested in the laboratory, is evaluated. It must be mentioned that those bolts which penetrated into the column depth have been used in order to create continuity between flanges of the column. The suggested method has been compared with the experimental test and the advanced finite element model in terms of stiffness, strength, and rotational capacity; moreover, its operation was satisfactory.  相似文献

The kinetic behavior of a commercial γ-Al2O3 catalyst for the methanol to dimethyl ether (DME) dehydration reaction has been investigated using a differential fixed bed reactor at the pressure range 1–16 barg within a temperature range of 260–380 °C. The experimental runs were performed in a wide range of feed to water ratios. The experiments were designed by general full factorial design (GEFD) and a novel rate equation has been developed which exhibited the best fitting with our experimental data. Based on the analysis of variance (ANOVA), the following order of importance for operating conditions was obtained when the objective function is the yield of DME: Temperature >Water % in feed >Pressure. In addition, the optimum operating conditions for the maximum yield of DME, were found at T= 380°C, P=16 barg and zero wt% of water in the feed.  相似文献

Ohmic‐assisted hydrodistillation (OAHD) is a combination of ohmic heating and distillation, and could be considered as a novel method for the extraction of essential oils. Major problems with traditional methods are long extraction time and lower purity of the extract. In this study, OAHD was applied as an economic and green technology for the extraction of essential oils from Zataria multiflora Boiss. (Shirazi thyme) aerial parts and the results were compared to those obtained from hydrodistillation (HD) as a conventional method. The results showed that OAHD method had the extraction time of 32.21 ± 2.59 min while this value was about 57.21 ± 2.33 min for hydrodistillation (HD). Scanning electron micrographs of thyme leaves showed a sudden eruption of essential oil glands and their surrounding area for OAHD samples. GC–MS analysis indicated that both methods of OAHD and HD can extract the same compounds.  相似文献

Circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is emerging as a potential tumor biomarker. CfDNA-based biomarkers may be applicable in tumors without an available non-invasive screening method among at-risk populations. Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and residents of the Asian cancer belt are examples of those malignancies and populations. Previous epidemiological studies using cfDNA have pointed to the need for high volumes of good quality plasma (i.e., >1 mL plasma with 0 or 1 cycles of freeze-thaw) rather than archival serum, which is often the main available source of cfDNA in retrospective studies. Here, we have investigated the concordance of TP53 mutations in tumor tissue and cfDNA extracted from archival serum left-over from 42 cases and 39 matched controls (age, gender, residence) in a high-risk area of Northern Iran (Golestan). Deep sequencing of TP53 coding regions was complemented with a specialized variant caller (Needlestack). Overall, 23% to 31% of mutations were concordantly detected in tumor and serum cfDNA (based on two false discovery rate thresholds). Concordance was positively correlated with high cfDNA concentration, smoking history (p-value = 0.02) and mutations with a high potential of neoantigen formation (OR; 95%CI = 1.9 (1.11–3.29)), suggesting that tumor DNA release in the bloodstream might reflect the effects of immune and inflammatory context on tumor cell turnover. We identified TP53 mutations in five controls, one of whom was subsequently diagnosed with ESCC. Overall, the results showed that cfDNA mutations can be reliably identified by deep sequencing of archival serum, with a rate of success comparable to plasma. Nonetheless, 70% non-identifiable mutations among cancer patients and 12% mutation detection in controls are the main challenges in applying cfDNA to detect tumor-related variants when blindly targeting whole coding regions of the TP53 gene in ESCC.  相似文献
