Edge-based and face-based smoothed finite element methods (ES-FEM and FS-FEM, respectively) are modified versions of the finite element method allowing to achieve more accurate results and to reduce sensitivity to mesh distortion, at least for linear elements. These properties make the two methods very attractive. However, their implementation in a standard finite element code is nontrivial because it requires heavy and extensive modifications to the code architecture. In this article, we present an element-based formulation of ES-FEM and FS-FEM methods allowing to implement the two methods in a standard finite element code with no modifications to its architecture. Moreover, the element-based formulation permits to easily manage any type of element, especially in 3D models where, to the best of the authors' knowledge, only tetrahedral elements are used in FS-FEM applications found in the literature. Shape functions for non-simplex 3D elements are proposed in order to apply FS-FEM to any standard finite element.  相似文献

A fundamental problem in systems biology consists of investigating robustness properties of genetic regulatory networks (GRNs) with respect to model uncertainty. This paper addresses this problem for GRNs where the coefficients are rationally affected by polytopic uncertainty, and where the saturation functions are not exactly known. First, it is shown that a condition for ensuring that the GRN has a globally asymptotically stable equilibrium point for all admissible uncertainties can be obtained in terms of a convex optimization problem with linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), hence generalizing existing results that mainly consider only the case of GRNs where the coefficients are linearly affected by the uncertainty and the regulatory functions are in SUM form. Second, the problem of estimating the worst-case convergence rate of the trajectories to the equilibrium point over all admissible uncertainties is considered, and it is shown that a lower bound of this rate can be computed by solving a quasi-convex optimization problem with LMIs. Third, the paper considers the problem of estimating the set of uncertainties for which the GRN has a globally asymptotically stable equilibrium point. This problem is addressed, first, by showing how one can compute estimates with fixed shape by solving a quasi-convex optimization problem with LMIs, and second, by deriving a procedure for computing estimates with variable shape. Numerical examples illustrate the use of the proposed techniques.  相似文献

Engineering frameworks are currently required to support the easy, low-cost, modular and integrated development of manufacturing systems addressing the emergent requirements of re-configurability, responsiveness and robustness. This paper discusses the integration of 2D/3D digital software tools with Petri net based service-oriented frameworks to allow the design, configuration, analysis, validation, simulation, monitoring and control of manufacturing systems in a virtual environment and its posterior smooth migration into the real ??physical?? environment. An experimental case study was implemented to validate the proposed concepts, using the Continuum platform to design, compose, analyze, validate and simulate the Petri nets based service-oriented manufacturing control system, and the Delmia AutomationTM software suite to support the rapid prototyping and the easy simulation of the designed control solution. The experimental results prove several aspects of the proposed approach, notably the smooth migration between the design and the operation phases, one of the main objectives of the work.  相似文献

Concrete bridges were built originally to have a cost-effective maintenance free life of 120 years, however both in Europe and the USA this has proved to the totally optimistic. Concrete bridges require major maintenance after twenty to thirty years in order to extend their life The Acoustic Emission technique has been successfully applied to monitor and provide information on the safety of concrete bridges, but the processing of the AE data is often not trivial. This paper proposes a method of AE analysis to assess concrete bridges based on the fact that the AE energy is one of the effective parameters to evaluate the damage of a concrete structure. Results from experiments on concrete beams with different design and loading configurations are presented. It is argued that in some cases the state of damage of bridge beams can be estimated from the AE energy analysis when approximately 45% of the ultimate load has been applied.  相似文献

The potential of radiative transfer modelling and inversion techniques for operational uses is investigated in order to retrieve leaf area index in a poplar plantation. The 1-D bidirectional canopy reflectance model SAIL, coupled with the leaf optical properties model PROSPECT, was inverted with hyperspectral airborne DAIS data by means of an iterative method. The root mean square error in LAI estimation was determined against in situ measurements in order to evaluate the impact of different inversion strategies on the LAI retrieval accuracy. These included the selection of an optimal spectral sampling set, the exploitation of prior knowledge in the inversion process and the use of multiview angle data. We claim that the best configuration is achieved by exploiting multiview DAIS data and prior knowledge information about the model variables (RMSE of 0.39 m2 m−2). It is also shown that the use of prior knowledge and the selection of a limited number of bands forming the optimal spectral sampling are instrumental in increasing the accuracy of the inversion process. Our analysis confirms the operational potential of model inversion for biophysical parameter retrieval.  相似文献

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) contribute to the pathogenesis and/or progression of several human diseases. Proteins are important molecular signposts of oxidative/nitrosative damage. However, it is generally unresolved whether the presence of oxidatively/nitrosatively modified proteins has a causal role or simply reflects secondary epiphenomena. Only direct identification and characterization of the modified protein(s) in a given pathophysiological condition can decipher the potential roles played by ROS/RNS-induced protein modifications. During the last few years, mass spectrometry (MS)-based technologies have contributed in a significant way to foster a better understanding of disease processes. The study of oxidative/nitrosative modifications, investigated by redox proteomics, is contributing to establish a relationship between pathological hallmarks of disease and protein structural and functional abnormalities. MS-based technologies promise a contribution in a new era of molecular medicine, especially in the discovery of diagnostic biomarkers of oxidative/nitrosative stress, enabling early detection of diseases. Indeed, identification and characterization of oxidatively/nitrosatively modified proteins in human diseases has just begun.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to provide a historical perspective of Tartaglia-Pascal’s triangle with its relations to physics, finance, and statistical signal processing. We start by introducing Tartaglia’s triangle and its numerous properties. We then consider its relationship with a number of topics: the Newton binomial, probability theory (in particular with the Gaussian probability density function, pdf), the Fibonacci sequence, the heat equation, the Schrödinger equation, the Black–Scholes equation of mathematical finance and stochastic filtering theory. Thus, the main contribution of this paper is to present a systematic review of the triangle properties, its connection to statistical theory, and its numerous applications. The paper has mostly a scientific-educational character and is addressed to a wide circle of readers.
