There is no standardised method to directly determine the shear strength of grouts in the field. Determining the shear strength would make it possible to calculate the penetration length of cement-based grouts and hence establish a design of the grouting procedure. By developing a new robust method that consists of a stick sinking in the grout, a direct measurement of the shear strength can be made, using the same set up as the separation test. The sink of the stick depends on the shear force interaction between the grout and the stick, and hence the shear strength of the grout can be determined. To verify the results, the shear strengths obtained with the stick are compared with measurements of the shear strength made with a rotational rheometer in the laboratory. The comparison shows good agreement; hence the stick can be used in the field to determine the yield strength of cement-based grouts.  相似文献

A novel FTICR cell called the trapping ring electrode cell (TREC) has been conceived, simulated, developed, and tested. The performance of the TREC is compared to a closed cylindrical cell at different excited cyclotron radii. The TREC permits the ability to maintain coherent ion motion at larger initial excited cyclotron radii by decreasing the change in radial electric field with respect to z-axis position in the cell. This is accomplished through postexcitation modulation of the trapping potentials applied to segmented trap plates. Resolving power approaching the theoretical limit was achieved using the novel TREC technology; over 420,000 resolving power was observed on melittin [M + 4H] (4+) species when employed under modest magnetic field strength (3T) and a data acquisition duration of 13 s. A 10-fold gain in signal-to-noise ratio is demonstrated over the closed cylindrical cell optimized with common potentials on all ring electrodes. The observed frequency drift during signal acquisition over long time periods was also significantly reduced, resulting in improved resolving power.  相似文献

2-Methyl-3-buten-2-ol (MBO) is an important biogenic volatile organic compound (BVOC) emitted by pine trees and a potential precursor of atmospheric secondary organic aerosol (SOA) in forested regions. In the present study, hydroxyl radical (OH)-initiated oxidation of MBO was examined in smog chambers under varied initial nitric oxide (NO) and aerosol acidity levels. Results indicate measurable SOA from MBO under low-NO conditions. Moreover, increasing aerosol acidity was found to enhance MBO SOA. Chemical characterization of laboratory-generated MBO SOA reveals that an organosulfate species (C(5)H(12)O(6)S, MW 200) formed and was substantially enhanced with elevated aerosol acidity. Ambient fine aerosol (PM(2.5)) samples collected from the BEARPEX campaign during 2007 and 2009, as well as from the BEACHON-RoMBAS campaign during 2011, were also analyzed. The MBO-derived organosulfate characterized from laboratory-generated aerosol was observed in PM(2.5) collected from these campaigns, demonstrating that it is a molecular tracer for MBO-initiated SOA in the atmosphere. Furthermore, mass concentrations of the MBO-derived organosulfate are well correlated with MBO mixing ratio, temperature, and acidity in the field campaigns. Importantly, this compound accounted for an average of 0.25% and as high as 1% of the total organic aerosol mass during BEARPEX 2009. An epoxide intermediate generated under low-NO conditions is tentatively proposed to produce MBO SOA.  相似文献

We present the identification of the sex pheromone in the pine sawfly, Gilpinia pallida, including analysis of the female pheromone content, male antennal response and attraction in the field, and synthesis of the most active pheromone component. Several 3,7-dimethyl-2-alkanols were identified from female whole-body extracts, including some compounds with a 2R configuration. This is the first observation of such compounds in a pine sawfly species. Antennae of male G. pallida responded strongly in electroantennograph (EAG) recordings to the (2S,3R,7R)-isomers of the propionates of 3,7-dimethyl-2-tridecanol, 3,7-dimethyl-2-tetradecanol, and 3,7-dimethyl-2-pentadecanol, as well as to the acetates of the tri- and pentadecanols (the acetate of the tetradecanol was not tested). The propionate of (2S,3R,7R)-3,7-dimethyl-2-tetradecanol caught more males in the field than the corresponding isomer of tri- or pentadecanol. We suggest that the (2S,3R,7R)-isomer of 3,7-dimethyl-2-tetradecanol is likely the main sex pheromone precursor in G. pallida, with a subsidiary role for the (2S,3R,7R)-isomer of the tridecanol. Preparation of highly pure (2R,3R,7R)- and (2S,3R,7R)-stereoisomers of 3,7-dimethyl-2-tetradecanol, including the biological active esters, was performed via chemoenzymatic methods and is described in detail.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to investigate social and behavioral correlates of perceived vulnerability to traffic injuries in an urban and rural setting in Tanzania. In 2002, a sample of 494 adults aged 15 years and above participated in household interviews in Dar es Salaam (urban) and Hai District (rural). The study was part of a population-based survey that collected self-report data on non-fatal injuries. In Dar es Salaam 75 and 82% of males and females, respectively, perceived it as likely that they would experience a traffic injury in general. The corresponding figures in Hai were 63 and 64%. Men rated their road traffic vulnerability similarly to women (OR=0.8, 95% CI 0.5-1.3). Factors associated with high perceived vulnerability as a pedestrian or being injured by a bicycle were amount of road safety information received from health workers and friends, having caused a car to swerve and having crossed a road while talking. Respondents perceived driver recklessness and driver drunkenness as the leading causes of traffic injuries in both areas. Differences were found between the urban and rural setting with respect to perceived risk for traffic injury. The implications of these findings in the context of traffic injury prevention are discussed.  相似文献

Reactive multicomponent transport modeling was used to investigate and quantify the factors that affect redox zonation and the fate of the pharmaceutical residue phenazone during artificial recharge of groundwater at an infiltration site in Berlin, Germany. The calibrated model and the corresponding sensitivity analysis demonstrated thattemporal and spatial redox zonation at the study site was driven by seasonally changing, temperature-dependent organic matter degradation rates. Breakthrough of phenazone at monitoring wells occurred primarily during the warmer summer months, when anaerobic conditions developed. Assuming a redox-sensitive phenazone degradation behavior the model results provided an excellent agreement between simulated and measured phenazone concentrations. Therefore, the fate of phenazone was shown to be indirectly controlled by the infiltration water temperature through its effect on the aquifer's redox conditions. Other factors such as variable residence times appeared to be of less importance.  相似文献

Biogeochemistry and regulation of redox processes in wetlands and especiallytheir source sink functions regarding sulfur, nitrogen, iron, and alkalinity are still poorly understood and become increasingly important in a world of global change. We investigated three forested wetlands within the Lehstenbach catchment (Fichtelgebirge, Northeastern Bavaria, Germany) differing in their degree of water saturation, vegetation, and availability of iron with stable sulfur analysis as well as geochemical analysis (iron, nitrate, sulfate, and oxygen contents in soil solutions and groundwater). Results indicated considerable nitrate, sulfate, and iron reduction rates bound to high spatial and temporal heterogeneity at all three sites. Sites differed significantly regarding their oxygen saturation and their dynamics of sulfur and iron reduction. The sequential reduction chain did not seem an applicable concept to describe redox dynamics at micro- (cm(2)) or mesoscale (m(2)) because of (1) high small-scale heterogeneity and (2) an absence of clear relationships between redox indicative parameters. The latter might be caused by redox processes occurring simultaneously at the investigated spatial and temporal scales. However, a tendency toward exclusive relationships between oxygen and iron, nitrate and iron, and delta34S with oxygen, nitrate, and sulfate indicated that the sequential reduction chain might be a suitable modeling concept for macroscale (km(2)) investigations with large sample numbers.  相似文献
