This paper presents a control system design strategy for multivariable plants where the controller, sensors and actuators are connected via a digital, data-rate limited, communications channel. In order to minimize bandwidth utilization, a communication constraint is imposed which restricts all transmitted data to belong to a finite set and only permits one plant to be addressed at a time. We emphasize implementation issues and employ moving horizon techniques to deal with both control and measurement quantization issues. In this note, the input-output linearization problem (IOLP) for a class of single-input-single-output nonlinear systems with multiple delays in the input, the output, and the state is studied. The problem is solved by means of various static or dynamic compensators, including state and output feedback. The mathematical setting is based on some noncommutative algebraic tools and the introduction of a nonlinear version of the so-called Roesser models for this class of systems. These are claimed to be the cornerstones for studying nonlinear time-delay systems. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the existence of a static or pure shift output feedback which solves the IOLP. Sufficient conditions for the existence of a dynamic state feedback solution are included as well. 相似文献

Boundedness results for feedback interconnections of quasi-dissipative systems are presented. A classical result due to Hill and Moylan is generalized to the case of finite power gain stability of feedback interconnection of quasi-dissipative systems. This paper presents a method to design an output-feedback controller that simultaneously solves global asymptotic stabilization and tracking of an underactuated omni-directional intelligent navigator—a spherical underwater vehicle moving in a horizontal plane (i.e. at a constant depth). The vehicle does not have a sway actuator and has only position and orientation measurements available. The control development is based on Lyapunov's direct method, backstepping technique and use of interconnected structure of the vehicle dynamics. Numerical simulations demonstrate the results. 相似文献

We have evaluated controlled decarburization as a method for probing the effect of alloying elements on ferrite growth from
austenite. The technique permits the exploration of longer-time ferrite layer growth; it minimizes the effects of interface
structure on ferrite growth; and it permits the isolation of the effects of temperature and alloying element concentration
on ferrite/austenite interface motion. The study of the decarburization of initially homogeneous Fe-C-Ni alloys was complemented
by experiments using specimens with a controlled nickel concentration gradient. Although the decarburization method yields
consistent results at longer times, it is found to be less appropriate for the study of initial ferrite growth. Nucleation
in the gas/solid interface region, coupled with uncertainties about the precise time of decarburization, leads to large relative
errors at the earliest times. For these reasons, the method is considered a valuable complement to studies based on precipitation
boundary conditions.

The aim of this work is to provide a high performance air quality simulation using the STEM-II (Sulphur Transport Eulerian Model 2) program, a large-scale pollution modeling application. First, we optimize the sequential program with the aim of increasing data locality. Then, we parallelized the program using OpenMP directives for shared memory systems, and the MPI library for distributed memory machines. Performance results are presented for a SGI O2000 multiprocessor, a Fujitsu AP3000 multicomputer and a Cluster of PCs. Experimental results show that the parallel versions of the code achieve important reductions in the CPU time needed by each simulation. This will allow us to obtain results with adequate speed and reliability for the industrial environment where it is intended to be applied. 相似文献

We describe a systematic series of experiments on thermalization of electrons in lithographic metallic thin films at millikelvin temperatures using Coulomb blockade thermometry (CBT). Joule dissipation due to biasing of the CBT sensor tends to drive the electron system into non-equilibrium. Under all experimental conditions tested, the electron-electron relaxation is fast enough to ensure thermal electron distribution, which is also in agreement with the theoretical arguments we present. On the other hand, poor electron-phonon relaxation plays a dominant role in lifting the electron temperature above that of the bath. From a comparison of the results with the theoretical current-voltage characteristics of the thermometers we precisely determine the electron-phonon coupling constant for the common metals used. Our experiments show that it is a formidable task to attain thermal equilibrium with the bath using single-electron devices under non-zero bias conditions at 20–50 mK temperatures that are typically encountered in experiments. The conclusion concerning Coulomb blockade thermometry is more optimistic and two-fold: (1) One can now correct the errors due to bias heating in a satisfactory manner based on known material properties and the size of the metal films in the sensor. (2) Reliable thermometry down to 20 mK requires islands whose volumes are >10?15 m3, which is still acceptable both from the parameter (capacitance) and fabrication points of view. 相似文献
