Effect of Fog and Clouds on the Image Quality in Millimeter Communications

The effect of fog and clouds in millimeter communication is discussed, and the attenuation caused by fog and clouds is reviewed. Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of image is derived using relating models of fog and clouds attenuation. According to the relation of image quality and its signal-to-noise ratio, the system behavior is forecasted theoretically. It is shown that the signal-to-noise ratio of receiver at certain transmitter power is inverse with radio wave frequency, from about 70dB at 10GHz to 48dB for fog and 49dB for clouds. The image quality of received signal at certain transmitter power is inverse with radio wave frequency, from about 7 grade at 10GHz to 5.27 grade for fog and 5.37 grade for clouds. The above calculated results are consistent with experimental results.

对菱镁矿在固体燃料燃烧过程中的固硫特性进行了理论研究，所得结论对进一步将菱镁矿作为固体燃料燃烧过程中的固硫剂具有非常重要的意义。     

运用NOAA AVHRR和Landsat TM数据估算多年水稻种植面积

介绍了综合运用NOAA AVHRR和Landsat TM数据进行多年水稻种植面积监测的一种方法,以湖北省为例,首先运用Landsat TM数据计算了该省1992年的水稻种植面积;接着运用1992年和1994年的NOAA AVHRR数据分别计算这两年的水稻像元数,以这两年水稻像元数的变化来反映水稻种植面积的变化;最后运用线性模型,估算1994年的水稻种植面积。所得的1994年水稻种植面积与湖北省农调队资料相比精度为84.5%。运用同样的方法估算1995年该省的水稻种植面积,精度达90%以上。     

Reduction of sodium-accelerated oxidation of silicon nitride ceramics by aluminium implantation

Norton NBD 200 silicon nitride ceramics were implanted with sodium to a dose of 7.0×10¹⁵cm^-2 at 72 keV (1 at% peak sodium content at 100 nm). The sodium-implanted samples were further implanted with aluminium to 7.3×10¹⁵cm^-2 at 87 keV (1 at% peak aluminium content at 100 nm). The implanted and unimplanted samples were oxidized in 1 atm dry oxygen at 1100 and 1300°C for 2–6 h. Profilometry and scanning electron microscopy measurements indicated that sodium implantation led to up to a two-fold increase in the oxidation rate of silicon nitride. The sodium effect was effectively neutralized when aluminium was co-implanted. The opposite effects of sodium and aluminium on the oxidation resistance of silicon nitride can be attributed to their different roles in modifying the structure and properties of the oxide formed. A model for evaluation and administration of security inobject-oriented databases

The integration of object-oriented programming concepts with databases is one of the most significant advances in the evolution of database systems. Many aspects of such a combination have been studied, but there are few models to provide security for this richly structured information. We develop an authorization model for object-oriented databases. This model consists of a set of policies, a structure for authorization rules, and algorithms to evaluate access requests against the authorization rules. User access policies are based on the concept of inherited authorization applied along the class structure hierarchy. We propose also a set of administrative policies that allow the control of user access and its decentralization. Finally, we study the effect of class structuring changes on authorization
