A transient thermal model used to monitor the temperature distribution in real-time in a long-stroke moving-magnet planar actuator is presented. The temperature distribution in the stator coils of the planar actuator depends on the trajectory of the levitated magnet plate as the set of active coils changes with the position of the translator. Using the presented real-time model, the transient thermal behavior can be investigated. Using this thermal model, the commutation algorithm of the planar actuator is adjusted to actively limit the temperature of the coils, and better spread the temperature over the stator coils. 相似文献

This paper presents a method to calculate the deformation of the magnet plate of a commutated magnetically levitated planar actuator using a linked electromagnetic–mechanical model. The force and torque distribution on the moving magnet array is obtained from an electromagnetic model based on the surface charge method and the Lorentz force and torque integral. The mechanical model is a state-space model derived from FEM. Many studies have demonstrated that those high in weight-related concerns eat more after food-cue exposure, which is consistent with predictions of the cue-reactivity model. However, the counteractive-control model predicts that exposure to fattening foods activates dieting-related goals and behavior in weight-concerned individuals. Although these models seem incongruous, the authors hypothesized that the salience of the cue could represent a critical factor in determining which model is activated. The authors predicted that attending to salient food cues would result in increased intake (cue reactivity) in individuals with high weight-related concerns, whereas incidental food-cue exposure would result in decreased intake (counteractive control), relative to control exposure. The authors employed a 3 (attended vs. incidental vs. control cue) × 2 (low vs. high weight-related concerns) design. As expected, participants with high weight-related concerns who attended to a food cue ate more than did both those with high weight-related concerns in the control condition and those with low weight-related concerns in the attended-cue condition; however, intake of individuals with high weight-related concerns who were exposed to the incidental cue did not differ from that of those in the control condition. An existing standard catering cart was compared with two prototypes for pushbar and castor design. The first objective of this study was to find out which cart was accompanied with the lowest manually exerted external forces in pushing in a straight way and in pushing a 90 turn. The second objective was to explore effects of the pushbar and castor design of the carts. In the initial and ending phase, the prototypes were accompanied with higher exerted forces compared with the standard catering cart. In pushing straight. the reversed start position of the bigger castors of the prototypes hampered a fluent acceleration and caused higher initial forces. In decelerating, the lower rolling friction of the bigger castors required higher forces to stop the prototypes compared to the standard cart. During the sustained phase, the prototype carts were more favourable. Effects of pushbar and castor design were studied during a turn. The vertical pushbars of the prototypes resulted in lower time-integrated pushing forces. Providing an axis of rotation for turning activities by means of a fixed wheel was proven to be advantageous. 相似文献

A new method is presented to decompose nonstationary signals into a summation of oscillatory components with time varying frequency, amplitude, and phase characteristics. This method, referred to as piecewise Prony method (PPM), is an improvement over the classical Prony method, which can only deal with signals containing components with fixed frequency, amplitude and phase, and monotonically increasing or decreasing rate of change. PPM allows the study of the temporal profile of post-stimulus signal changes in single-trial evoked potentials (EPs), which can lead to new insights in EP generation. We have evaluated this method on simulated data to test its limitations and capabilities, and also on single-trial EPs. The simulation experiments showed that the PPM can detect amplitude changes as small as 10%, rate changes as small as 10%, and 0.15 Hz of frequency changes. The capabilities of the PPM were demonstrated using single electroencephalogram/EP trials of flash visual EPs recorded from one normal subject. The trial-by-trial results confirmed that the stimulation drastically attenuates the alpha activity shortly after stimulus presentation, with the alpha activity returning about 0.5 s later. The PPM results also provided evidence that delta activity undergoes phase alignment following stimulus presentation. 相似文献

We investigated the contact guidance phenomenon of rat dermal fibroblasts (RDF) on microgrooved polystyrene substrates. Grooves were 1 microm deep, and between 1 and 10 microm wide. Light microscopy and digital image analysis (DIA) showed that RDF were oriented on all microgrooved substrates. Scanning electron microscopy showed that RDF cultured on 1 or 2 microm wide grooves were positioned on top of the ridges. On the wider 5 and 10 microm grooves, the cells were able to descend into the grooves. In confocal laser scanning microscopy, focal adhesions were lying in the same direction as the actin filament where they attached to. DIA confirmed an orientational behavior of focal adhesions and actin filaments on microgrooves. There were no differences in the measured orientation between the different grooves. Besides, no obvious preference was found for focal adhesions to lie along edges of the surface ridges. Transmission electron microscopy showed that focal adhesions were able to bend along the edges of ridges. On the basis of our observations, we suggest that the breakdown and formation of fibrous cellular components, especially in the filopodium, is influenced by the microgrooves. The microgrooves create a pattern of mechanical stress, which influences cell spreading and cause the cell to be aligned with surface microgrooves. 相似文献

κ-(BEDT-TTF)2I3 is an electronically extreme two-dimensional (2d) organic metal with a superconducting transition at around 4K. In magnetic fields above 12T the effective mass, as obtained from the temperature dependence of the amplitudes of Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations, is magnetic field dependent as long as the magnetic field is arranged perpendicular to the conducting planes. In contrast to this by turning the magnetic field 27° or even only by 9° the observed effective mass (as obtained from SdH- and de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA)-measurements) is field independent. We suppose that the occurrence of anyons at temperatures below 1K and in fields above 12T is the reason for the observed field dependence of the effective mass. 相似文献

Hepatic lipase (HL) and scavenger receptor type B class I (SR-BI) have both been implicated in high density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesteryl ester uptake in cholesterol-utilizing tissues. Inactivation of HL by gene-directed targeting in mice results in up-regulation of SR-BI expression in adrenal gland (Wang, N., Weng, W., Breslow, J. L., and Tall, A. R. (1996) J. Biol. Chem. 271, 21001-21004). The net effect on HDL-cholesteryl ester uptake is not known. We determined the impact of acute in vivo inhibition of rat adrenal HL activity by antibodies on SR-BI expression and on human and rat HDL-[3H]cholesteryl ether (CEth) uptake in the adrenal gland. Rat HDL was isolated from rats in which HL activity had been inhibited for 1 h. The rats were studied under basal conditions (not ACTH-treated) and after previous treatment with ACTH for 6 days (ACTH-treated). Intravenous injection of anti-HL resulted in 70% lowering of adrenal HL activity in both conditions which were maintained for at least 8 h. In not ACTH-treated rats, inhibition of adrenal HL increased adrenal SR-BI mRNA (5.2-fold) and mass (1. 6-fold) within 4 h. HL inhibition resulted in 41% and 14% more adrenal accumulation of human HDL-[3H]CEth during 4 and 24 h, respectively. The adrenal uptake of rat HDL-[3H]CEth increased by 68%, 4 h after the antibody injection. ACTH treatment increased total adrenal HL activity from 3.7 +/- 0.5 milliunits to 34.0 +/- 17. 2 milliunits, as well as adrenal SR-BI mRNA from 2.9 +/- 0.7 arbitrary units (A.U.) to 86.8 +/- 41.1 A.U. and SR-BI mass from 7.7 +/- 1.8 A.U. to 63.16 +/- 46.7 A.U. The human HDL-[3H]CEth uptake by adrenals was also significantly increased from 0.58 +/- 0.11% of injected dose to 7.24 +/- 1.58% of injected dose. Inhibition of adrenal HL activity did not result in further induction of SR-BI expression and did not affect human HDL-[3H]CEth uptake. These findings indicate that SR-BI expression may be influenced by changes in HL activity. HL activity is not needed for the SR-BI-mediated HDL-cholesteryl ester uptake by rat adrenal glands. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: We determined the effect of oral ingestion of sucrose polyester, which was approved as a fat replacer in the United States, on gallbladder motility and on the release of cholecystokinin, the hormone that mediates gallbladder emptying. OBJECTIVE: Our objective was to measure effects of sucrose polyester on gallbladder emptying and cholecystokinin release. DESIGN: Eight healthy volunteers (3 men and 5 women) drank 60 mL sucrose polyester, digestible fat, or saline solution in a balanced crossover design on 3 separate days. RESULTS: Mean (+/-SEM) gallbladder emptying, when integrated over time, was low in response to both sucrose polyester (-150 +/- 214 mL x 120 min) and saline solution (-89 +/- 123 mL x 120 min). In contrast, there was marked emptying in response to digestible fat (1069 +/- 253 mL x 120 min). Sucrose polyester did not affect plasma cholecystokinin concentrations (-9.3 +/- 15.0 pmol x 120 min/L), whereas digestible fat resulted in a significant increase (89.5 +/- 44.8 pmol x 120 min/L, P = 0.014) compared with saline solution (-3.0 +/- 13.8 pmol x 120 min/L). CONCLUSIONS: Ingestion of sucrose polyester, in contrast with digestible fat, did not stimulate gallbladder emptying or release of cholecystokinin. 相似文献
