We investigated which structural components are responsible for maintaining interstitial fluid equilibrium in the pulpal tissue, for which the existence of an effective lymph drainage is postulated. There have been only a small number of investigations on pulpal lymph tissue. Therefore, we decided to perform a detailed structural analysis. Twenty vital, healthy teeth that had to be extracted for orthodontic reasons were immersed in Patent Blue for 10 to 15 minutes after opening the pulpal cavity. They were then extracted and the dental pulps were opened by cleavage of the surrounding hard tooth structure. Subsequently, the specimens were prepared for light and electron microscopic investigation. A clear blue ring of stain was detected by light microscopy in Weil's zone in the coronal region of the pulp, the cell-rarefied layer surrounded by the odontoblasts. No dye deposition was observed in the apical part. However, using transmission electron microscopy, capillary structures with typical morphological characteristics of lymphatic vessels were found apically. The coronal part of the pulp did not reveal any such vascular structures. It may be concluded from these findings that the lymph in the coronal region is collected in interstitial tissue clefts and drained towards the apex, whence it is further transported via lymph capillaries. 相似文献

Certain applications of superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) require a magnetic field measurement only in a very narrow frequency range. In order to selectively improve the alternating-current (ac) magnetic field sensitivity of a high-temperature superconductor SQUID for a distinct frequency, a single-coil LC resonant circuit has been used. Within the liquid nitrogen bath, the coil surrounds the SQUID and couples to it inductively. Copper coils with different numbers of windings were used to cover the frequency range from <1 to nearly 100 kHz. A superconducting coil made of YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7-delta) tape conductor was also tested. With the LC circuit, the signal-to-noise ratio of measurements could be improved typically by one order of magnitude or more in a narrow frequency band around the resonance frequency exceeding a few kilohertz. The best attained equivalent magnetic field resolution was 2.5 fT/radicalHz at 88 kHz. The experimental findings are in good agreement with mathematical analysis of the circuit with copper coil. 相似文献

High-resolution electron microscopy and nano-beam analytical electron microscopy have been used to characterize both the intergranular silicate film thickness and its local composition in a series of high-purity Si3 N4 ceramics doped with 0–450 at. ppm Ca. Calcium was detected at both two-grain junctions and triple junctions, even in the 80-ppm-Ca-doped specimen. The thickness of the intergranular film at two-grain junctions was found to depend sensitively on Ca content. In undoped material, the thickness was 1.0 ± 0.1 nm. With increasing Ca content, the thickness decreased in the dilute region (80 ppm Ca), but then increased. The variation in film thickness can be qualitatively understood in terms of the balance of three long-range forces acting normal to the film, namely the van der Waals dispersion force, a structural "steric" force, and an electrical-double-layer force. By comparing the measured thicknesses to those predicted, estimates for the structural correlation length and the inverse Debye length can be made. These estimates have values of ∼ 0.22 nm and approximately 0.3–0.5 nm, respectively, for the calcia-free and 80 ppm calcia materials. 相似文献

Photoderivatized polymer-coated gold surfaces have been developed following a perfluorophenylazide-based double ligation strategy. Gold-plated quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) crystals were initially covalently functionalized with a monolayer of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), using photo- or thermolytic nitrene formation and insertion. The polymer surfaces were subsequently used as substrates for photoinsertion of carbohydrate-derivatized photoprobes, yielding different recognition motifs for selective protein binding. The resulting robust and biocompatible sensor surfaces were applied to a flow-through QCM instrument for monitoring lectin-carbohydrate interactions in real time. The procedure of a numerical shape optimization of the cold forging tool geometry allows for a reduction and a homogenization of tool load stresses. This procedure considers the workpiece-tool-machine interaction by means of the FEM/BEM coupling. The coupling requires modifications to insure accurate integration in TOSCA software for further shape optimization. The resulting distribution of the nodal displacements and changes of tool geometry are discussed and analyzed. Additionally, the numerical validation of the results by means of mechanical simulation of the optimized geometry with the extended FEM/BEM model is given. The equivalent stresses distribution at the end of lateral extrusion in the tool and in workpiece is presented. The numerical shape optimization leads to the maximum equivalent stress value reduction on the press shoulder on 856 MPa, corresponding to a percentage decrease of 24.3 % in comparison with the initial geometry. The approach for the compensation of load induced workpiece deviations, involving the described optimization procedure, is presented as well. 相似文献

Case hardened gears usually are hard finished to improve the load carrying capacity and the noise behavior. Generating gear grinding is one possible process for the hard finishing of gears and has replaced other grinding processes in batch production of small and middle size gears due to the high process efficiency. Despite the wide industrial application of this process only a few scientific analysis exist. The science-based analysis of generating gear grinding needs a high amount of time and effort. One reason are the complex contact conditions between tool and gear flank, which change continuously during the grinding process. This complicates the application of the existing knowledge of other grinding processes on generating gear grinding. The complex contact conditions lead to a high process dynamic which is a challenge for the design of machine tools, the control engineering and the process design. The knowledge of the cutting forces and their time dependent behaviour is necessary to describe and optimize the process dynamic. But the determination of the cutting forces in generating gear grinding process is not facilely possible at this time. 相似文献
