The glass formation region, crystalline phases, second harmonic (SH) generation, and Nd:yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) laser-induced crystallization in the Sm2O3–Bi2O3–B2O3 system were clarified. The crystalline phases of Bi4B2O9, Bi3B5O12, BiBO3, Sm x Bi1− x BO3, and SmB3O6 were formed through the usual crystallization in an electric furnace. The crystallized glasses consisting of BiBO3 and Sm x Bi1− x BO3 showed SH generations. The formation of the nonlinear optical BiB3O6 phase was not confirmed. The formation (writing) region of crystal lines consisting of Sm x Bi1− x BO3 by YAG laser irradiation was determined, in which Sm2O3 contents were∼10 mol%. The present study demonstrates that Sm2O3–Bi2O3–B2O3 glasses are promising materials for optical functional applications.  相似文献

Fabrication process for picoliter volume SiO2 glass tube array partially embedded in Si wafer was developed. As a template for the glass tubes, macropore array was formed at the surface of n-Si(1 0 0) wafer by photo-assisted electrochemical etching process. The area-selective formation of the array was achieved by applying Au/Cr micropatterns formed at the back-side surface of the substrate as the shade mask, which controls the illumination condition to optimize the etching reaction conditions. Subsequently, surface of the macropores was wet-thermally oxidized to form glass layer, and the bulk Si region was removed by alkaline etching, remaining the “glass tubes”. As a result of complete removal of the bulk Si, released glass tubes were obtained. By partial removal of the bulk Si part, the glass tubes were exposed, fixed in the remaining Si substrate in the form of well-ordered array. It was confirmed that the depth, the exposed region and the wall thickness of each glass tube were controllable by adjusting the parameters such as the duration of the Si electrochemical etching, the alkaline etching and the wet-thermal oxidation, respectively. In order to demonstrate microreaction in the glass tube, aqueous rhodamine B solution was injected into the tubes and excitation light was irradiated to them. As a result, the fluorescence of rhodamine B was clearly detected, confirming the applicability of the glass tubes for various kinds of devices and systems such as microreactors.  相似文献

The present study investigated experimentally autogenous shrinkage of high-strength concrete containing silica fume under drying at early ages. The influence of drying on hydration of cementitious materials in the high-strength concrete with water-binder ratios of 0.25, 0.35 and 0.45 was evaluated based on bound water content (BWC), which was exposed to drying at the ages of 0.5, 1.0 and 3.0 days, respectively. By establishing the relationship between the BWC and autogenous shrinkage strain under sealed conditions, autogenous shrinkage strain under drying conditions and drying shrinkage strain were separated from total shrinkage strain, and, then, the contribution of autogenous shrinkage in total shrinkage was discussed. The results showed that the percentage of autogenous shrinkage was macroscopically 50-20% based on the present method, while that was 70-30% based on the conventional superposition principle (SP). The latter resulted in overestimating autogenous shrinkage strain under drying conditions.  相似文献

In this work, entropic expressions of UNIFAC‐FV and Entropic‐FV models were evaluated by using an extensive database of infinite dilution vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of athermal systems containing polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyisobutylene. For the infinite dilution athermal systems, performance of the Entropic‐FV model was better than that of the UNIFAC‐FV model. Then, finite concentration VLE data of non‐athermal systems that consisted of 16 polymers and 36 solvents containing a large variety of solvent–polymer systems ranging from nonpolar to polar substances were considered to optimized 46 pairs of group interaction parameters of the Entropic‐FV model. For systems containing polar solvents of three types of solvents studied, revised group interaction parameters gave significant improvements from 17.9 to 13.0% average absolute deviation (AAD) of solvent activities. This article proposes a new method to measure the creep strength of adhesively bonded joints using a hydro-pneumatic testing machine and a specimen holder, on which multi-specimens can be mounted in one testing machine. Creep tests were conducted on stainless steel butt joints bonded with epoxy adhesives. A hydro-pneumatic loading system was introduced to avoid successive failures of multi-specimens as well as to achieve a stable and constant loading through the experiments. Even after a failure occurs in one of the joints and thus generates an impact, the loading system is capable of absorbing the shock so that the other remaining joints do not fail simultaneously. It was experimentally verified that choke valves, which were introduced in the hydraulic circuit of the system, worked as a damper when failure occurred. Additionally, it was established that automatic reloading to the remaining specimens after the failure was short enough compared with the creep rupture time. As this new method relates to the efficiency of creep testing, the utility of the proposed approach with the multi-specimen setup has been verified.  相似文献

The Ca2+-ATPase is an integral transmembrane Ca2+ pump of the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). Crystallization of the cytoplasmic surface ATPase molecules of isolated scallop SR vesicles was studied at various calcium concentrations by negative stain electron microscopy. In the absence of ATP, round SR vesicles displaying an assembly of small crystalline patches of ATPase molecules were observed at 18 µM [Ca2+]. These partly transformed into tightly elongated vesicles containing ATPase crystalline arrays at low [Ca2+] (≤1.3 µM). The arrays were classified as ‘’tetramer’’, “two-rail” (like a railroad) and ‘’monomer’’. Their crystallinity was low, and they were unstable. In the presence of ATP (5 mM) at a low [Ca2+] of ~0.002 µM, “two-rail” arrays of high crystallinity appeared more frequently in the tightly elongated vesicles and the distinct tetramer arrays disappeared. During prolonged (~2.5 h) incubation, ATP was consumed and tetramer arrays reappeared. A specific ATPase inhibitor, thapsigargin, prevented both crystal formation and vesicle elongation in the presence of ATP. Together with the second part of this study, these data suggest that the ATPase forms tetramer units and longer tetramer crystalline arrays to elongate SR vesicles, and that the arrays transform into more stable “two-rail” forms in the presence of ATP at low [Ca2+].  相似文献

Avidin-containing polyelectrolyte microcapsules were prepared by a layer-by-layer deposition technique and uptake and release of biotin-labelled fluorescein (b-FITC) was studied. The polyelectrolyte microcapsules were prepared by coating the surface of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) microparticles containing avidin-poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS) conjugate, followed by dissolution of CaCO3 core in an ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid solution. Release of avidin from the microcapsules was markedly suppressed due to formation of a high molecular weight of avidin-PSS conjugate in the microcapsules. The uptake of b-FITC into the microcapsules was highly enhanced through a strong binding of b-FITC to avidin, as compared to the uptake into avidin-free microcapsules. Release of b-FITC from the microcapsules was accelerated upon addition of biotin, 2-iminobiotin, or lipoic acid in the solution due to the competitive binding of the additives to the binding site of avidin.  相似文献

Guar gum has a well-recognized hypolipidemic effect. This effect is thought to be due to the physicochemical properties of guar gum, which may cause changes in adsorption of lipids or the viscosity of the intestinal contents. Guar gum is a non-specific absorption inhibitor of any type of lipid-soluble compound. Permanent lymph duct cannulation was performed on rats to investigate the effects of dietary guar gum on lymph flow and lipid transport. Rats fed a 5% guar gum diet were compared with those fed a 5% cellulose diet, and lymph was collected after feeding. The water-holding capacity (WHC), settling volume in water (SV), and viscosity of guar gum were compared with those of cellulose. Rats fed with the guar gum diet had significantly lower lymph flow and lymphatic lipid transport than did rats fed with the cellulose diet. The WHC, SV, and viscosity of guar gum were significantly higher than those of cellulose. We propose that dietary guar gum reduces lymph flow and thereby diminishes lipid transport by means of its physicochemical properties related to water behavior in the intestine.  相似文献
