Although designed as a cross-platform parallel programming model, OpenCL remains mainly used for GPU programming. Nevertheless, a large amount of applications are parallelized, implemented, and eventually optimized in OpenCL. Thus, in this paper, we focus on the potential that these parallel applications have to exploit the performance of multi-core CPUs. Specifically, we analyze the method to systematically reuse and adapt the OpenCL code from GPUs to CPUs. We claim that this work is a necessary step for enabling inter-platform performance portability in OpenCL.  相似文献

To better understand the nature of the mechanism involved in the membrane uptake of a vector peptide, the interactions between dioleoylphosphatidylcholine and a primary amphipathic peptide containing a signal peptide associated with a nuclear localization sequence have been studied by isotherms analysis of mixed monolayers spread at the air-water interface. The peptide and the lipid interact through strong hydrophobic interactions with expansion of the mean molecular area that resulted from a lipid-induced modification of the organization of the peptide at the interface. In addition, a phase separation occurs for peptide molar fraction ranging from about 0.08 to 0.4 Atomic force microscopy observations made on transferred monolayers confirm the existence of phase separation and further reveal that mixed lipid-peptide particles are formed, the size and shape of which depend on the peptide molar fraction. At low peptide contents, round-shaped particles are observed and an increase of the peptide amount, simultaneously to the lipidic phase separation, induces morphological changes from bowls to filamentous particles. Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) obtained on transferred monolayers indicate that the peptide adopts a beta-like structure for high peptide molar fractions. Such an approach involving complementary methods allows us to conclude that the lipid and the peptide have a nonideal miscibility and form mixed particles which phase separate.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Manure treatment in intensive livestock farming is required to reduce the risk of negative environmental impacts by nitrogen disposal. Biological removal through intermittent aeration in a single bioreactor is a suitable method for this purpose. The characteristic operation based on the alternation of oxic/anoxic phases confers these systems with certain particularities in terms of process modelling and of understanding the microbial interactions. RESULTS: The performance of a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) treating raw liquid fraction of pig slurry (LFPS) under loading rates of 0.13 g N L?1 d?1 was studied. Three different aeration strategies were applied: (1) constant airflow; (2) dissolved oxygen (DO) set‐point; and (3) DO‐based real‐time control. The comparatively low aeration intensity applied throughout the third strategy resulted in the process being performed mainly via nitrite, implying a reduction on the requirements of organic carbon and oxygen. However, a decrease in the nitrification rate was observed under those conditions. Experimental results were satisfactorily simulated by a mathematical model focused on organic carbon and nitrogen removal. Microbial community structure analysis through denaturing gradient gel electrophoretic profiling of 16S rDNA genes showed that the aeration exerted a strong influence on the dominant microbial populations. The presence of the ammonia‐oxidizing species Nitrosomonas europaea, and of denitrifying bacteria related to Thauera sp. and Ralstonia sp., was detected in the strategy at low DO. CONCLUSION: Dependence of model statement and parameter values on the bioreactor operational patterns and piggery wastewater composition was evidenced. This study examined whether signs of secondary traumatic stress were present in a community sample of couples who experienced World War II. The authors hypothesized that symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in either spouse may be predicted not only by his or her own war experiences but also by the war experiences and posttraumatic symptoms of the partner. Approximately 50 years after the end of World War II, 444 couples from a community sample of elderly Dutch citizens answered a questionnaire. A multilevel regression analysis was performed with symptoms of PTSD as the dependent variable. The most important predictors of PTSD symptoms were the number of war events reported by the participant and the current level of PTSD symptoms of his or her spouse. The results lend empirical support to the notion that posttraumatic stress reactions of both members of a couple are not independent from each other. A mechanism is proposed to describe the influence of redox reactions, which involve variable-valence ions, on the diffusional mass transport of molecular dissolved oxygen in glassmelts. The concentration profile for molecular dissolved oxygen in a melt with diffusional transport in one direction in a Cartesian coordinate system is described by a differential equation: ∂(O2/∂ t = Dc (∂2[O2]/∂ x 2), where Dc depends on the actual value of the diffusivity D of physically dissolved oxygen, the local molecular oxygen concentration, the concentration of variable-valence ions, and the equilibrium constant for the relevant redox reaction. This equation is applicable for diffusion into or outwards from the melt from or into the furnace atmosphere. It is shown here that the value of Dc is always less than D . Concentration profiles for diffusing oxygen in glassmelts with refining agents (containing variable-valence ions) are thus steeper than profiles in melts without refining agents. A decrease in temperature of a glassmelt with variable-valence ions generally leads to diffusion of oxygen into the melt. The flux of oxygen gas into (oxidation) or out (reduction) of the melt is proportional to ( D/Dc )1/2 and is enhanced by the effect of variable-valence ions dissolved in the melt.  相似文献

A synthetic route for the preparation of 9-phenyl-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-c]pteridines 8 is described. Their reactivities towards xanthine oxidase from Arthrobacter M-4 are determined and compared with the pteridine derivatives 6-phenylpteridin-4[3H]-thione 5, 6-phenyl-4-thiomethylpteridine 6, 4-hydrazino-6-phenylpteridine 7, 3-N-methyl-6-phenylpteridin-4[3H]-thione 19, 4-amino-6-phenylpteridine 22 and 1-N-methyl-6-phenylpteridin-4[1H]-one 24, in order to inspect a possible influence of pyrimidine ring substitution pattern on their interaction with the bacterial enzyme. It has been suggested that a planar structure of the pteridine moiety and the substituents could be an important factor that so far has been overlooked when considering the enzyme activity. Some literature data are also discussed in view of revision of structure assignment of the compounds 12, 14, and 17. Supported inorganic membranes hold the promise of highly effective separation and purification, and stable operation in harsh environments. Examples are thin films of paladium alloy for H2, mixed conducting oxides for O2, amorphous silica for CO2 and zeolites for hydro-carbons, and meso-porous titania for water purification. However, compared to organic membranes, large-scale production of inorganic membranes requires improvements in reproducibility and cost processes. This short overview provides terminology, concepts, and important criteria for performance, stability, reproducibility, and cost of supported inorganic membranes. Also discussed are possible approaches to address the challenges, and examples for designing gas separation and water purification.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The European Union has forbidden the use of antibiotics as additives in animal feed. Zn‐bacitracin (Zn‐BC) and nystatin (NYS) were frequently used for their growth‐promoting effects and for feed conversion in poultry, pigs and cattle. An HPTLC method has been developed for separating Zn‐BC and NYS in the mixture, for routine quality control. RESULTS: The separation was obtained using RP‐18 F254S coated HPTLC plates with acetonitrile/methanol (equal volumes):toluene:KH2PO4/KOH (buffer, pH 6.8) = 57:3:40 (v/v/v), adjusted with HCl to pH 8.2, as a mobile phase. The densitograms were monitored at 192, 215 and 305 nm and both antibiotics were assayed at 215 nm. The method was shown to be specific, accurate (recoveries were 98.7 ± 0.5% and 104.8 ± 0.7% for Zn‐BC and NYS, respectively), linear over the tested range (correlation coefficients, 0.9982 and 0.9884), and precise (intermediate precision RSD below 2.2% for both analytes) with efficient separation (Rs = 3.5). CONCLUSION: The method was applied for determining Zn‐BC and NYS as additives in spiked matrices of commercial animal feedstuffs. According to LOD values for each antibiotic, the minimum detectable amount in feed is 4.5 and 5.5 ppm of Zn‐BC and NYS, respectively. Copyright © 2008 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
