Imipenem/cilastatin sodium (IPM/CS) was administered to 102 patients with respiratory tract infections and lung cancer. Patients with other serious diseases were excluded and a total of 73 patients were enrolled. They were divided into 12 patients who underwent surgery (operated group) and 61 who did not (non-operated group); the latter group included 28 patients treated with anticancer agents or radiation therapy (treated group) and 33 untreated patients (untreated group). IPM/CS was effective in 75% of the patients, both with and without surgery. The drug was effective in 81% of the treated group, although many of the patients had Stage III or more advanced cancer, as well as bronchial occlusion. IPM/CS was also effective in 69% of the untreated group, although many of the patients have serious infections and a PS (Performance Status) of 3 or greater. Thus, IPM/CS treatment achieved good results. Bacteriological studies showed that 3 out of 4 strains in the operated group and 16 out of 18 in the non-operated group were eliminated. Safety was evaluated in all patients. Two patients (2%) experienced side effects and two others (2%) showed abnormal clinical findings, but the symptoms were mild and resolved after discontinuation or completion of therapy. We report the effect of vitamin E succinate (VE succinate) on the proliferation of cultured bovine choroidal endothelial cells (BCECs). BCECs were incubated with a medium containing vitamin E (VE) or one of the VE derivatives gamma-tocopherol, VE phosphate, VE succinate, VE nicotinate, VE acetate, or trolox, at a concentration of 10 microM. The proliferation of BCECs was assessed by 3H-thymidine uptake and cell counting. Especially in VE and VE succinate, the proliferation assay was performed on BCECs at two different stages, that is, the proliferating stage and the quiescent stage. The effect of protein kinase C (PKC) stimulator phorbol ester (PMA) on the VE succinate-induced inhibition of BCEC proliferation was also examined. VE succinate was found to significantly inhibit BCEC proliferation at a concentration of 10 microM or greater both by 3H-thymidine uptake assay and by cell counting. This inhibitory effect was not noted in other VE derivatives. The inhibitory effect was the most prominent in the proliferating BCECs and co culture of PMA. VE succinate inhibits the proliferation of cultured BCECs and PKC is involved in this action at least in part. 相似文献

An advanced TFT memory cell technology has been developed for making high-density and high-speed SRAM cells. The cell is fabricated using a phase-shift lithography that enables patterns with spaces of less than 0.25 μm to be made using the conventional stepper. Cell area is also reduced by using a small cell-ratio and a parallel layout for the transistor. Despite the small cell-ratio, stable operation is assured by using advanced polysilicon PMOS TFT's for load devices. The effect of the Si3N4 multilayer gate insulator on the on-current and the influence of the channel implantation are also investigated. To obtain stable operation and extremely low stand-by power dissipation, a self-aligned offset structure for the polysilicon PMOS TFT is proposed and demonstrated. A leakage current of only 2 fA/cell and an on-/off-current ratio of 4.6×106 are achieved with this polysilicon PMOS TFT in a memory cell, which is demonstrated in a experimental 1-Mbit CMOS SRAM chip that has an access time of only 7 ns 相似文献

Sixteen strains of Bifidobacterium isolated from 15 dairy products such as yogurt, cultured milk, butter and cheese were characterized on the basis of phenotypic characteristics and DNA similarities were examined by a microplate hybridization method. Three of the strains were identified as Bifidodobacterium longum, one strain was identified as Bifidobacterium bifidm, and one strain was assigned to the species Bifidobacterium breve on the basis of phenotypic characteristics, and this identification was confirmed by the analysis of DNA similarities. The remaining 11 strains could not be identified by examining their phenotypic characteristics and, contrary to the product label information, these strains were identified as Bifudidobacterium animalis on the basis of DNA similarities. Hyaluronidase (HAase) activity was detected in both a human pus sample and the culture supernatant of the only bacterial isolate from the pus, Streptococcus intermedius, using a zymographic technique. The optimum pH range for HAase activity was similar for both samples. Although the bands showing the strongest HAase activity of these samples differed from each other with respect to molecular size, both samples were equally inhibited by an antiserum raised against HAase of S. intermedius. These results suggest that S. intermedius may produce HAase in vivo as well as in vitro, and that this enzyme and/or its fragments may play an important role in host tissue degradation. 相似文献

A 1-Mbit CMOS static RAM (SRAM) with a typical address access time of 9 ns has been developed. A high-speed sense amplifier circuit, consisting of a three-stage PMOS cross-coupled sense amplifier with a CMOS preamplifier, is the key to the fast access time. A parallel-word-access redundancy architecture, which causes no access time penalty, was also incorporated. A polysilicon PMOS load memory cell, which had a large on-current-to-off-current ratio, gave a much lower soft-error rate than a conventional high-resistance polysilicon load cell. The 1-Mbit SRAM, fabricated using a half-micrometer, triple-poly, and double-metal CMOS technology, operated at a single supply voltage of 5 V. An on-chip power supply converter was incorporated in the SRAM to supply a partial internal supply voltage of 4 V to the high-performance half-micrometer MOS transistors.<> 相似文献
