Multihop wireless mesh networks are an attractive solution for providing last-mile connectivity. However, the shared nature
of the transmission medium makes it challenging to fully exploit these networks. In an attempt to improve the radio resource
utilization, several routing metrics have been specifically designed for wireless mesh networks. However none of these routing
metrics efficiently tackles interference issues. Moreover, although some evaluations have been conducted to assess the performance
of these metrics in some contrived scenarios, no overall comparison has been performed. The contributions of this paper are
consequently twofold. First, we propose a new routing metric, Interference-Aware Routing metric (IAR), specifically designed
for WMNs. IAR uses MAC-level information to measure the share of the channel that each link is able to utilize effectively.
As a result, paths that exhibit the least interference will be selected to route the data traffic. Then we evaluate the performance
of IAR against some of the most popular routing metrics currently used in wireless mesh networks: Hop Count, Blocking Metric,
Expected Transmission Count (ETX), Expected Transmission Time (ETT), Modified ETX (mETX), Network Allocation Vector Count
(NAVC) and Metric of Interference and Channel-Switching (MIC). We show under various simulation scenarios that IAR performs

Although the advantages of sp3-rich, sterically complicated molecules in drug development have been pointed out, modern screening libraries are filled with planar, sp2-rich components. Compounds that are sp3-rich are difficult to synthesize, and thus we aimed to invent an efficient method to construct sp3-rich libraries. By modifying sp3-rich 7-azanorbornane scaffolds through click chemistry, we efficiently prepared a small set of compounds. These compounds were not only sp3-rich, but also had sufficient “lead-like” properties in view of molecular weights and hydrophobicity. Screening assays of this library provided weak κ opioid receptor agonists and growth hormone secretagogue receptor agonists with high hit rates. These results indicate that the 7-azanorbornane scaffold may be a “privileged structure” for lead identification in drug discovery. 相似文献

Terahertz (THz) imaging is expected to become powerful tools for non-destructive inspections. To ensure the practical use of THz non-destructive monitoring, versatile THz imagers with adjustable designs that can eliminate the complexities and the bulkiness of the device are urgently required. Herein, a self-aligned filtration process for a 2D, free-standing carbon nanotube film array and its application to a THz video camera patch are reported. The presented techniques enable a) to freely design the camera size, sensor array pattern, and suspended shape according to its applications, b) to cut the camera patch into desired shapes, and c) to attach them to the objects that are intended to be measured. Real-time, non-destructive monitoring of various infrastructures is demonstrated. These results indicate that it can function regardless of restrictions, such as the shapes and locations of the measurement samples, thus providing a strong possibility for use in future non-destructive sensor networks. 相似文献

Telomere length (TL) influences the development of lifestyle-related diseases, and neonatal TL may influence their prevalence. Various factors have been reported to affect neonatal TL. Although the fetus is exposed to multiple conditions in utero, the main factors affecting the shortening of neonatal TL are still not known. In this study, we sought to identify factors that influence fetal TL. A total of 578 mother-newborn pairs were included for TL analysis. TL was measured in genomic DNA extracted from cord blood samples using quantitative PCR. The clinical factors examined at enrollment included the following intrauterine environmental factors: maternal age, assisted reproductive technology (ART) used, body mass index (BMI), gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), maternal stress, smoking, alcohol consumption, preterm delivery, small-for-gestational-age, neonatal sex, and placental weight. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were used to verify the relationship between neonatal TL and these clinical factors. The median neonatal TL to single-copy gene ratio was 1.0. Pregnancy with ART was among the 11 factors associated with shorter neonatal TL. From multiple regression analysis, we determined that neonatal TL was significantly shorter for pregnancies in the ART group than in the other groups. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of the changing role of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) signaling in the healthy and diseased synovial joint and spine. HGF is a multifunctional growth factor that, like its specific receptor c-Met, is widely expressed in several bone and joint tissues. HGF has profound effects on cell survival and proliferation, matrix metabolism, inflammatory response, and neurotrophic action. HGF plays an important role in normal bone and cartilage turnover. Changes in HGF/c-Met have also been linked to pathophysiological changes in degenerative joint diseases, such as osteoarthritis (OA) and intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). A therapeutic role of HGF has been proposed in the regeneration of osteoarticular tissues. HGF also influences bone remodeling and peripheral nerve activity. Studies aimed at elucidating the changing role of HGF/c-Met signaling in OA and IDD at different pathophysiological stages, and their specific molecular mechanisms are needed. Such studies will contribute to safe and effective HGF/c-Met signaling-based treatments for OA and IDD. 相似文献

The maximum diameter of broadening of nylon 6 polymer melts due to the Barus effect dmax were measured under various conditions of spinneret die dimensions and polymer temperatures. The results obtained were formulated and compared with the typical past theories on the mechanism of occurrence of the Barus effect. The Barus effect was formulated by using the relation between stress and strain in the theory of rubber elasticity: where τs is the shear stress generated inside the spinneret die, T is the absolute temperature of polymer melts, λ is the elongation ratio parallel to the polymer stream, and d0 is the diameter of spinneret die. Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is related to impaired bone healing conditions in the maxillomandibular bone region as a complication of bisphosphonate intake. Although there are several hypotheses for the onset of MRONJ symptoms, one of the possible causes is the inhibition of bone turnover and blood supply leading to bone necrosis. The optimal treatment strategy for MRONJ has not been established either. BMP-2, a member of the TGF-β superfamily, is well known for regulating bone remodeling and homeostasis prenatally and postnatally. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to evaluate whether cyclophosphamide/zoledronate (CY/ZA) induces necrosis of the bone surrounding the tooth extraction socket, and to examine the therapeutic potential of BMP-2 in combination with the hard osteoinductive biomaterial, β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP), in the prevention and treatment of alveolar bone loss around the tooth extraction socket in MRONJ-like mice models. First, CY/ZA was intraperitoneally administered for three weeks, and alveolar bone necrosis was evaluated before and after tooth extraction. Next, the effect of BMP-2/β-TCP was investigated in both MRONJ-like prevention and treatment models. In the prevention model, CY/ZA was continuously administered for four weeks after BMP-2/β-TCP transplantation. In the treatment model, CY/ZA administration was suspended after transplantation of BMP-2/β-TCP. The results showed that CY/ZA induced a significant decrease in the number of empty lacunae, a sign of bone necrosis, in the alveolar bone around the tooth extraction socket after tooth extraction. Histological analysis showed a significant decrease in the necrotic alveolar bone around tooth extraction sockets in the BMP-2/β-TCP transplantation group compared to the non-transplanted control group in both MRONJ-like prevention and treatment models. However, bone mineral density, determined by micro-CT analysis, was significantly higher in the BMP-2/β-TCP transplanted group than in the control group in the prevention model only. These results clarified that alveolar bone necrosis around tooth extraction sockets can be induced after surgical intervention under CY/ZA administration. In addition, transplantation of BMP-2/β-TCP reduced the necrotic alveolar bone around the tooth extraction socket. Therefore, a combination of BMP-2/β-TCP could be an alternative approach for both prevention and treatment of MRONJ-like symptoms. 相似文献

This article outlines the energy conservation measures in the civilian sector from a few different viewpoint regarding energy conservation in cities. First, the energy consumption trends in the business and residential sectors are discussed, focusing the importance of energy conservation measures in applications such as home heating, water heating and specific power demand. Second, as a measure to reduce energy demand itself, energy conservation by way of applying heat insulating materials to buildings and changing the life style of residents is considered. And from the viewpoint of improving the energy system efficiency, additionally discussed here are the measures to improve the efficiency of each energy equipment such as air‐conditioners and co‐generation equipment, and the characteristics of District heating and cooling systems such as the local energy infrastructures. Lastly, from the knowledge obtained through model analyses by the authors, a scheme is recommended that would be one of the most efficient city‐energy schemes where the energy systems including heat pumps, co‐generators or equipment using solar power are utilized for their best‐suited applications for business and residential customers. Pollution emission reduction is becoming an inevitable global goal. Incorporating pollution reduction goals into power system operation affects several different aspects, such as unit scheduling and system reliability. At the same time, changes in the energy scheduling change the required optimal reserve amount. Optimal spinning reserve scheduling also affects the energy market scheduling. Optimal reserve allocation changes the energy scheduling, which affect the amount of pollution emission. Therefore, incorporating pollution emission reduction and optimal spinning reserve scheduling cannot be studied separately. Analysis of the system effects of pollution reduction should be performed considering the ancillary service market, specificity the optimal spinning reserve scheduling. This problem is addressed in this paper by incorporating optimal spinning reserve scheduling in a combined environment economic dispatch (CEED) in one objective function. The framework of this paper enables the study of the effect of optimal reserve scheduling and emission reduction as well as an analysis of the system effects of pollution reduction. With the increased AMI and smart grid realization, the reserve supplying demand response (RSDR) is becoming an important player in the reserve market, and thus, these resources are also taken into account. In this paper, the objective function is social cost minimization, including the costs associated with energy provision, reserve procurement, expected interruptions and environmental pollution. A MIP-based optimization method is developed, which reduces the computational burden considerably while maintaining the ability to reach to the optimal solution. The IEEE RTS 1996 is used as a test case for numerical simulations, and the results are presented. The numerical results show that optimal reserve scheduling and RSDR utilization resources have a considerable impact on environmental–economic cost characteristics. 相似文献
