To improve oil and water repellency, fluorine-containing block copolymers, which were composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), and 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-heptadecafluorodecyl acrylate (PFA), were blended with an epoxy resin. It was expected that a glycidyl group would mesh with the epoxy resin by primary bonding, and the low surface energy fluorocarbon segment would absorb and orient to the exterior to fluorinate the surface. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, contact angle, and peel strength of pressure-sensitive adhesives for modified epoxy resin surface were determined. The amount of fluorine obtained via angular-dependent ESCA investigation in the modified resin surfaces increased with the shallowing of the sampling depth. With increasing modifier content, the amount of fluorine in the modified resin surface layer increased, and the critical surface tension of modified resin surfaces and the peel strength of a silicone pressuresensitive adhesive affixed to the modified epoxy resin, decreased. A considerable amount of fluorine in the resin surface modified with GMA-containing block copolymers remained after Soxhlet extraction, whereas in the surface modified with copolymer without GMA, more fluorine was extracted. Three-dimensional molecular dynamics simulation was conducted to clarify at an atomic level the flattening process of a high-temperature droplet impacting a substrate at high speed. The droplet and the substrate were assumed to consist of pure aluminum, and the Morse potential was postulated between a pair of aluminum atoms. In this report, the influence of the impact parameters such as the droplet velocity and the droplet diameter on flattening behavior were analyzed. As a result, the following representative conclusions were obtained: (a) the flattening ratio increases in proportion to the droplet velocity and the droplet diameter; (b) the flattening ratio for nanosized droplet can be reorganized by the same dimensionless parameters of the proper physical properties, such as the viscosity and the surface tension, as those used in the macroscopic flattening process. Beetle hyperactive antifreeze protein (AFP) has a unique ability to maintain a supercooling state of its body fluids, however, less is known about its origination. Here, we found that a popular stag beetle Dorcus hopei binodulosus (Dhb) synthesizes at least 6 isoforms of hyperactive AFP (DhbAFP). Cold-acclimated Dhb larvae tolerated −5 °C chilled storage for 24 h and fully recovered after warming, suggesting that DhbAFP facilitates overwintering of this beetle. A DhbAFP isoform (~10 kDa) appeared to consist of 6−8 tandem repeats of a 12-residue consensus sequence (TCTxSxNCxxAx), which exhibited 3 °C of high freezing point depression and the ability of binding to an entire surface of a single ice crystal. Significantly, these properties as well as DNA sequences including the untranslated region, signal peptide region, and an AFP-encoding region of Dhb are highly similar to those identified for a known hyperactive AFP (TmAFP) from the beetle Tenebrio molitor (Tm). Progenitor of Dhb and Tm was branched off approximately 300 million years ago, so no known evolution mechanism hardly explains the retainment of the DNA sequence for such a lo­ng divergence period. Existence of unrevealed gene transfer mechanism will be hypothesized between these two phylogenetically distant beetles to acquire this type of hyperactive AFP.  相似文献

Ozone (O3) has many industrial applications such as in sterilization. One of the long-term O3 preservation methods is molecular storage in clathrate hydrate. In this study, an experimental system was developed for continuously forming O3 + O2 + CO2 hydrates. The parameters that affect the continuous operation of the system and that lead to increases in the concentration of O3 in the hydrates were also experimentally evaluated, implementing the method of quality engineering. After optimizing these operating parameters, the O3 storage capacity in the hydrates was measured to be 0.26 wt % at 2 h of total operation time. By X-ray diffraction, it was found that the produced sample contained hydrates, and long-term preservation for 6 months was possible at the temperature of general freezing warehouses.  相似文献

As the most promising concept of sodium-cooled fast reactors, the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has selected the advanced loop-type fast reactor, so-called JSFR. The safety design requirements of JSFR for Design Extension Condition (DEC) are the prevention of severe accidents and the mitigation of severe-accident consequences. For the mitigation of severe-accident consequences, in particular, the In-Vessel Retention (IVR) against postulated Core Disruptive Accidents (CDAs) is required. In order to investigate the sufficiency of these safety requirements, a CDA scenario should be constructed, in which the elimination of power excursion and the in-vessel cooling of degraded core materials are evaluated so as to achieve IVR. In the present study, the factors leading to IVR failure were identified by creating phenomenological diagrams, and the effectiveness of design measures against them were evaluated based on experimental data and computer simulations. This is an unprecedented approach to the construction of a CDA scenario, and is an effective method to objectively investigate the factors leading to IVR failure and the design measures against them. It was concluded that mechanical/thermal failures of the reactor vessel due to power-excursion/thermal-load could be avoided by adequate design measures, and a clear vision for achieving IVR was obtained.  相似文献

Transient responses of a closed‐loop MHD experimental facility from nonpower generation to power generation have been investigated by means of time‐dependent quasi‐one‐dimensional numerical simulations. For the long‐time continuous power generation experiment, the time required to obtain the steady state for the power generation is estimated to be approximately 20 hours. By increasing the electrical input power to the heater as an exponential function of time, the temperature increment of ceramics can be moderated. When the duration of the experiment is around 10 minutes, argon gas temperature at the exit of the heater hardly changes because of the large heat capacity of structure materials. It is found that the fluid disturbances are induced at the instant of the power generation and they propagate as they repeatedly reflect at the sudden change of duct shape. Since all of the induced disturbances attenuate approximately 0.4 second after the power generation, the time scale that the disturbances exist in the facility is estimated to be 1 second at most. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
