In this paper, the graphene was synthesized using biocompatible cellulosic component from onions. Onion epidermal cells were chosen as raw material. During heating at high temperature, the bonding among atoms in material was rearranged and forms two-dimensional hexagonal carbon layer (graphene). The characterization of synthesized graphene was done by x-ray diffractometer, Raman spectrometer and field emission scanning electron microscopy, respectively. An attempt has been taken to form the capacitors with two different current collector electrodes, anticipating the performance of the supercapacitors. The observed capacitance values as-obtained for Al and Au current collector were 1.3 μF and 6.08 μF, respectively. However, when thermally exfoliated graphene was used as an electrode on Al and Au current collector, the capacitance value was drastically increased and found to be 1.6 and 41.25 μF, respectively. 相似文献

We demonstrate a new approach to tune the electrical properties of graphene and functionalized graphene. Graphene was synthesized using thermal chemical vapour deposition(TCVD) method on copper foil using precursor gas acetylene and co-catalyst H2 gas. TCVD assisted graphene was successfully transferred onto a silicon wafer. Transferred graphene sheet was then functionalized to prepare graphene oxide(GO) and reduced graphene oxide(rGO). Different surface charge carbon nanoparticles, e.g. carbon nanoparticle with net positive charge and carbon nanoparticle with net negative charge were then immobilized on transferred graphene and functionalized graphene sheets. The functionalized graphene and charge mobilized functionalized graphene were characterized by Uv–vis spectroscopy,Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. After immobilization of carbon nanomaterials, the ac electrical conductivity was found to increase due to enhancement of the surface charge, electron density, and mobility. It was observed that negative surface charge immobilized graphene and functionalized graphene show higher conductivity. The work presented in this article involves the study of rheometric profile of several rheological additives in two-component (2K) high build epoxy zinc phosphate primer and two-component high build aliphatic polyurethane topcoat. Viscosity profile and thixotropic behavior at different shear rates have been determined for both the paints using Physica MCR 301 Rheometer of Anton Paar. The valuable information derived from these measurements led to better insight into the influence of these rheological additives on important paint properties like flow and leveling, sag control, in-can settling during storage, etc. Rheometric results were also compared with the results obtained during the actual application of these experimental coatings on mild steel panels. From the rheological study it was concluded that the thickeners based on surface-modified clay and organically modified castor oil derivative work well in epoxy zinc phosphate primer whereas polyurea-based thickener showed better results than other rheological additives in the case of the 2K polyurethane system. Measurement of low shear and high shear viscosity response of different thickeners helps in predicting storage and application behavior of these coatings which correlates well with the actual observation. 相似文献

Biodiesel production via transesterification of mustard oil with methanol using solid oxide catalyst derived from waste shell of Turbonilla striatula was investigated. The shells were calcined at different temperatures for 4 h and catalyst characterizations were carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)/differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurements . Formation of solid oxide i.e. CaO was confirmed at calcination temperature of 800 °C. The effect of the molar ratio of methanol to oil, the reaction temperature, catalyst calcination temperature and catalyst amount used for transesterification were studied to optimize the reaction conditions. Biodiesel yield of 93.3% was achieved when transesterification was carried out at 65 ± 5 °C by employing 3.0 wt.% catalyst and 9:1 methanol to oil molar ratio. BET surface area indicated that the shells calcined in the temperature range of 700 °C-900 °C exhibited enhanced surface area and higher pore volume than the shells calcined at 600 °C. In the wake of increasing environmental constraints, this work is aimed at developing a catalyst purely prepared from waste biomass source as the raw material. The catalyst is investigated for its applicability in transesterification of vegetable oil with the objectives: (i) to use waste shells of mollusk as raw material for the preparation of activated carbon and CaO; (ii) to use it as heterogeneous catalyst in the transesterification of waste cooking oil; (iii) to optimize the different parameters affecting the transesterification reaction; and (iv) to study its reusability. Under optimized conditions it was observed that a conversion >90% was possible and the catalyst could be reused five times with a slight loss in activity. This study indicates that the biomass source could also be used as a potential raw material in the synthesis of environmentally benign catalysts. 相似文献

This study was carried out to determine the phytochemical and antioxidant properties of two pigmented rice cultivars viz., Lingkang taker ame, Umling ame, and a non-pigmented rice Pungpo taker ame. Fourier transform infrared and high-performance liquid chromatography analysis of phenolic compounds were carried out for the rice cultivars. The highest level of total phenolic, anthocyanin, and scavenging activities were observed in Umling ame cultivar. Fourier transform infrared result of rice cultivars showed wide range of frequency (1131.60–3538.75 cm–1) which confirmed the presence of various phenolic compounds. Seven phenolic acids were detected in the rice cultivars. The highest value of salicylic acid (302.06 ± 0.01 mg/L), ferulic acid (17.21 ± 0.02 mg/L), apigenin (7.03 ± 0.01 mg/L), and gallic acid (0.98 ± 0.04 mg/L) were detected in Umling ame; whereas the highest value of quercetin (611.46 ± 0.01 mg/L) and caffeic acid (1.83 ± 0.01 mg/L) were found in Pungpo taker ame and Lingkang taker ame cultivars, respectively. Rice wine was prepared in the laboratory from a black pigmented rice (cv. Poireton) using standardized methodology. The wine was fortified with the probiotic strains Lactobacillus acidophilus ATCC 4356 and Lactobacillus sakei ATCC 15521 and allowed to undergo a storage period of 28 days at 4°C. These rice wines were compared with a commercial wine used as a standard reference wine. A panel consisting of 30 judges performed the sensory evaluation. The scores obtained were based on the quality attributes of colour, taste, aroma and alcoholic strength. Analysis of the sensory scores and ranking of the different samples were performed using fuzzy analysis. The quality attributes were also ranked according to their importance in the overall acceptability. Colour and alcoholic strength were accorded the highest importance, compared with aroma and taste, as quality attributes. The rice wines were rated as ‘not satisfactory’, ‘fair’, ‘medium’, ‘good’ and ‘excellent’ on the sensory scale. Out of the wines prepared, black pigmented rice wine fortified with L. acidophilus was the most acceptable and was ranked as ‘good’, which was also at par with the commercial wine. On the other hand, black pigmented rice wine fortified with L. sakei and black pigmented rice wine fortified with L. acidophilus and L. sakei were ranked in the ‘satisfactory’ category followed by the unfortified wine ranked in the ‘fair’ category.
