In two-thirds of patients with splenic lymphoma with villous lymphocytes (SLVL) a small amount of M-protein can be detected in association with the presence of plasma cells in the peripheral blood (PB) and/or bone marrow (BM). However, it is not known whether lymphoma cells and plasma cells originate from the same clone. In this report we describe a case of SLVL which was characterized by the presence of marked monoclonal gammopathy (IgG-kappa 90 g/l) and increased plasma cells in the BM. In an attempt to elucidate the origin of lymphoma cells and plasma cells, we performed morphological, cytogenetic and molecular studies on PB mononuclear cells (PBMNC) without plasma cells and BMMNC containing 10% plasma cells from this patient. Immunofluorescence showed that lymphoma cells and plasma cells were positive for cytoplasmic gamma heavy and kappa light chains. Well-developed endoplasmic reticulum was observed in the cytoplasmic organelles of PBMNC using an electron microscope. The mean IgG concentration in the 3 d supernatant cultures of PBMNC was 374 +/- 24 microg/l. More than 50% PBMNC differentiated into plasmacytoid cells in 6 d of liquid culture with IL-3 and IL-6. Analysis by two-colour FISH revealed that karyotypic abnormalities of monosomy X and trisomy 17 existed simultaneously in both lymphoma cells and plasma cells. JH gene rearranged bands from PBMNC and BMMNC by Southern blot hybridization were identical, whereas DNAs from PBMNC failed to hybridize with the Cmu probe. These observations strongly suggest that lymphoma cells and plasma cells originate from the same clone, and that plasma cells, as well as lymphoma cells, which have undergone class switch recombination, could produce IgG type M-protein in this case. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Coexistent primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) and coeliac disease has been recorded but the association has not been systematically studied. AIMS: To determine relative prevalences of PBC and coeliac disease in a defined population over a 12 year period. PATIENTS AND METHODS: All patients with PBC or coeliac disease in a stable population of 250,000 in South Wales were identified from a clinical register and laboratory records. RESULTS: Sixty seven patients with PBC and 143 patients with coeliac disease have been diagnosed and followed over a median of 86 (4-135) months; point prevalences in 1996 were 20 per 100,000 for PBC and 54 per 100,000 for coeliac disease. PBC in patients with coeliac disease was sought by investigating abnormal liver function tests. Ten (7%) had persistent abnormalities and three had PBC. Coeliac disease in patients with PBC was sought by investigating malabsorption, haematinic deficiency, positive antigliadin antibody, or coeliac disease family history. Eleven patients underwent duodenal biopsy revealing one further coeliac disease case. Four patients (three women have both conditions giving a point prevalence for patients with both conditions of 1.6 per 100,000 (95% confidence limits 0.44 to 4.1 per 100,000). Prevalence of PBC in patients with coeliac disease was 3% and of coeliac disease in patients with PBC was 6%. CONCLUSION: A 12 year study of a stable 250,000 population revealed a relative prevalence of PBC in 3% of 143 patients with coeliac disease and of coeliac disease in 6% of 67 patients with PBC. PBC and coeliac disease are therefore associated. Screening for PBC in patients with coeliac disease using antimitochondrial antibody testing and screening for coeliac disease in patients with PBC with antigliadin antibody testing or duodenal biopsy are recommended. 相似文献

A 37-year-old woman underwent an emergency operation at our hospital because of severe abdominal pain and ileus. Most of her small intestine and ascending colon were observed to have become necrotic due to occlusion of her superior mesenteric artery (SMA). Pathological findings of the resected intestine revealed that her SMA was completely thrombosed 2 cm distal from its origin with smooth muscle proliferation. Post-surgical blood analysis of her pre-operative serum was positive for lupus anticoagulant and antinuclear antibodies. She noticed vaginal bleeding due to missed abortion on the 31st day after the operation. We diagnosed her acute abdominal pain to be that of antiphospholipid syndrome associated with her pregnancy. 相似文献

The paper presents two types of a passive safety containment for a near future BWR. They are named Mark S and Mark X containment. One of their common merits is very low peak pressure at severe accidents without venting the containment atmosphere to the environment. The PCV pressure can be moderated within the design pressure. Another merit is the capability to submerge the PCV and the RPV above the core level. The third merit is robustness against external events such as a large commercial airplane crash. Both the containments have a passive cooling core catcher that has radial cooling channels. The Mark S containment is made of reinforced concrete and applicable to a large power BWR up to 1830 MWe. The Mark X containment has the steel secondary containment and can be cooled by natural circulation of outside air. It can accommodate a medium power BWR up to 1380 MWe. In both cases the plants have active and passive safety systems constituting in-depth hybrid safety (IDHS). The IDHS provides not only hardware diversity between active and passive safety systems but also more importantly diversity of the ultimate heat sinks between the atmosphere and the sea water. Although the plant concept discussed in the paper uses well-established technology, plant performance including economy is innovatively and evolutionally improved. The effects of single and repeated administrations of ipidacrine (NIK-247, 9-amino-2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta [b] quinoline monohydrochloride monohydrate) on scopolamine-induced spatial learning deficit were investigated in rats using the Morris water maze task. A single oral administration of ipidacrine (0.3 and 1 mg/kg) reduced the increased total latency induced by scopolamine in this task. The repeated administration of ipidacrine (1 mg/kg) of once a day for 5 successive days reduced the increased total latency induced by scopolamine to the levels of the saline-treated control rats in this task. In this pharmaco-kinetic study, ipidacrine was rapidly taken up into the brain within 5 min. Moreover, higher drug levels were observed mainly in the cortex and hippocampus, which both play important roles in learning and memory. Thus, a previous study together with this investigation indicate that ipidacrine improves amnesia which consists of the impairment of the working and reference memory in various animal models, suggesting that ipidacrine is a useful candidate for the therapy of patients with Alzheimer's disease. 相似文献

The reliability of Cu interconnects was successfully improved by applying a CuAl alloy seed. However, the effect of additive Al on the reliability is not fully understood. In order to reveal the reliability improvement mechanism, Cu films using CuAl alloy seed were investigated in detail. As stress induced voiding (SIV) as well as electromigration is caused by migration of vacancies and/or Cu atoms, the measured activation energy value of electromigration using CuAl indicates that the fast diffusion paths are Cu grain boundaries. The analysis using high lateral resolution scanning type secondary ion mass spectrometry (nano-SIMS) clarifies that additive Al in ECP-Cu film is mainly localized at grain boundaries. Furthermore, positron annihilation was used to probe vacancy-type defects in Cu films. The CuAl films before recrystallization contain larger and higher density vacancy-type defects. Whereas, the recrystallized CuAl films after annealing above 250 °C contain smaller and lower density defects. Furthermore, CuAl films with annealing above 350 °C contain less Al inside the grains. These results represent that Al atoms in Cu films with annealing above 350 °C are exhausted from inside grains to the grain boundaries, and the spewed Al atoms existing at Cu grain boundary effectively prevents the diffusion of Cu and/or vacancies. 相似文献

The paper presents a quantitative approach to the investigation and comparison of the material qualities of III–V on silicon (III–V/Si) solar cells by using external radiative efficiencies. We use this analysis to predict the limiting efficiencies and evaluate the criteria of material quality in order to achieve high‐efficiency III–V/Si solar cells.
