The release of metal ions from a coal mining tailing area, Lamphun, Northern Thailand, is studied by leaching tests. Considerable amounts of Mn, Fe, Al, Ni and Co are dissolved in both simulated rain water (pH 4) and 10 mg L(-1) humic acid (HA) solution (Aldrich humic acid, pH 7). Due to the presence of oxidizing pyrite and sulfide minerals, the pH in both leachates decreases down to approximately 3 combined with high sulfate concentrations typical to acid mine drainage (AMD) water composition. Interaction of the acidic leachates upon mixing with ground- and surface water containing natural organic matter is simulated by subsequent dilution (1:100; 1:200; 1:300; 1:500) with a 10 mg L(-1) HA solution (ionic strength: 10(-3) mol L(-1)). Combining asymmetric flow field-flow fractionation (AsFlFFF) with UV/Vis and ICP-MS detection allows for the investigation of metal ion interaction with HA colloid and colloid size evolution. Formation of colloid aggregates is observed by filtration and AsFlFFF depending on the degree of the dilution. While the average HA size is initially found to be 2 nm, metal-HA complexes are always found to be larger. Such observation is attributed to a metal induced HA agglomeration, which is found even at low coverage of HA functional groups with metal ions. Increasing the metal ion to HA ratio, the HA bound metal ions and the HA entities are growing in size from <3 to >450 nm. At high metal ion to HA ratios, precipitation of FeOOH phases and HA agglomeration due to colloid charge neutralization by complete saturation of HA complexing sites are responsible for the fact that most of Fe and Al precipitate and are found in a size fraction >450 nm. Proximate composition, fatty acids profiles and other nutritional values were evaluated for fillets of Limanda aspera (yellowfin sole), Lepidopsetta bilineata (southern rock sole) and Lepidopsetta polyxystra (northern rock sole) and compared to North Sea plaice (Pleuronectes platessa). Additional information is given on the composition of fillets from arrowtooth flounder (Atheresthes stomias). Plaice (0.8% lipid) and Alaska soles (1.0–1.2% lipid) can be classified as lean species, resulting in low 0.3–0.5 g ∑EPA+DHA/100 g muscle, although the fatty acid profiles of the extracted lipids were characterised by high amount of n‐3 fatty acids (33.2–47.3%). Arrowtooth flounder belong to the medium‐fat species (4.3%). Taurine was the most prevalent free amino acid; mean values ranging between 221 mg100 g?1 and 247 mg100 g?1 wet weight. The selenium content varied between 130 and 310 μg kg?1 ww. Sensory attributes of Southern and Northern rock sole were comparable to plaice. 相似文献

Face cognition is considered a specific human ability, clearly differentiable from general cognitive functioning. Its specificity is primarily supported by cognitive-experimental and neuroimaging research, but recently also from an individual differences perspective. However, no comprehensive behavioral data are available, which would allow estimating lifespan changes of the covariance structure of face-cognition abilities and general cognitive functioning as well as age-differences in face cognition after accounting for interindividual variability in general cognition. The present study aimed to fill this gap. In an age-heterogeneous (18–82 years) sample of 448 adults, we found no factorial dedifferentiation between face cognition and general cognition. Age-related differences in face memory were still salient after taking into account changes in general cognitive functioning. Face cognition thus remains a specific human ability compared with general cognition, even until old age. We discuss implications for models of cognitive aging and suggest that it is necessary to include more explicitly special social abilities in those models. A detailed microscopic analysis of fracture surfaces of 42CrMo4‐hardened steel after ultrasonic fatigue testing revealed globular and cylindrical particles located in ridges along the crack propagation direction. Observed particles could be easily taken for non‐metallic inclusions; however, chemical analysis showed that they are of the same composition as the steel matrix. The formation of such round‐shaped debris was found to be a result of cutting out the matrix fragments by ‘en passant’ cracks interaction and their subsequent fretting burnishing. Possible correlation of the parameters of ridges and debris with cyclic plastic zone width and martensite structure is discussed. 相似文献

Severe inflammatory disorders such as sepsis are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Mitochondrial dysfunction is regarded as a key feature involved in inflammation pathogenesis. In the present study, we investigated the impact of the omega-3 fatty acid-derived lipid mediator Resolvin E1 (RvE1) on mitochondrial function in experimental pulmonary inflammation. RvE1 was found to exert anti-inflammatory properties in human alveolar epithelial cells during severe inflammation. RvE1 is capable of restoring inflammation-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and the impaired imbalance of mitochondrial fission and fusion. Experimental inhibition of mitochondrial fission with Mdivi-1 in our model is associated with a significantly reduced inflammatory response and improved mitochondrial function. These findings suggest a novel functional mechanism for the beneficial effects of RvE1 in experimental pulmonary inflammatory reactions. 相似文献

This paper presents a review of four decades of research on dynamic lot-sizing with capacity constraints. We discuss both
different modeling approaches to the optimization problems and different algorithmic solution approaches. The focus is on
research that separates the lot-sizing problem from the detailed sequencing and scheduling problem. Our conceptional point
of reference is the multi-level capacitated lot-sizing problem (MLCLSP). We show how different streams of research emerged
over time. One result is that many practically important problems are still far from being solved in the sense that they could
routinely be solved close to optimality in industrial practice. Our review also shows that currently mathematical programing

Non-destructive methodologies for remote monitoring of fatigue induced by mechanical load in fibre reinforced plastics are presented. Hollow cylinders (glass fibre winding) were stepwise biaxially fatigued and measured in single-sided access configurations. Based on conversion of air-coupled ultrasound to guided waves, it is shown that accumulated fatigue damage is accompanied by decrease in phase velocity and increase in attenuation. The change in wave velocity caused by fatigue is shown to correlate closely with measurements of stiffness degradation of the composite. The attenuation of guided waves is affected by crack density which is visually traceable in the transparent composite. Monitoring of cyclic loading of the specimens by thermal imaging and a high-speed camera revealed that the initiation of final failure in the specimens coincides with spots of increased temperature. Air-coupled guided wave area scans allow for observing the development of these areas and other local damage in the composite. 相似文献
