There has been much interest to emulate the behavior of Output Queued switches. The early result of such attempts was reported by Prabhakar and McKeown using the CIOQ switches with speedup factor of 4. Subsequently, Stoica and Zhang and independently Chuang et al. showed that a speedup of 2 in conjunction with their scheduling schemes would be sufficient for CIOQ switches to emulate Output Queued switches.Additionally, Chuang et al. showed that in “Average Sense” a speedup of 2?1/N is necessary and sufficient for CIOQ to emulate Output Queued switch behavior.Our paper reports that in the “Strict Sense” a speedup of 2 is both necessary and sufficient. We show this requirement using examples for 2x2 and 3x3 switches. Then, with a constructed traffic pattern, it is proved that in the “Strict Sense” a speedup of 2 is necessary to emulate the behavior of an Output Queued switch for any switch size N.Combining this result with the previous scheduling schemes, we conclude that in the “Strict Sense”, a speedup of 2 is the necessary and sufficient condition to emulate the behavior of an Output Queued switch, using a CIOQ switch.Additionally, easing the assumptions and allowing the packet segmentation, it is shown that the speedup requirement to emulate the behavior of an Output Queued switch can be reduced to values even smaller than 2?1/N. The hybrid algorithm for real-time vertical handover using different objective functions has been presented to find the optimal network to connect with a good quality of service in accordance with the user’s preferences. Markov processes are widely used in performance modelling of wireless and mobile communication systems. We address the problem of optimal wireless network selection during vertical handover, based on the received information, by embedding the decision problem in a Markov decision process (MDP) with genetic algorithm (GA), we use GA to find a set of optimal decisions that ensures the best trade-off between QoS based on their priority level. Then, we emerge improved genetic algorithm (IGA) with simulated annealing (SA) as leading methods for search and optimization problems in heterogeneous wireless networks. We formulate the vertical handoff decision problem as a MDP, with the objectives of maximizing the expected total reward and minimizing average number of handoffs. A reward function is constructed to assess the QoS during each connection, and the AHP method are applied in an iterative way, by which we can work out a stationary deterministic handoff decision policy. As it is, the characteristics of the current mobile devices recommend using fast and efficient algorithms to provide solutions near to real-time. These constraints have moved us to develop intelligent algorithm that avoid the slow and massive computations. This paper compares the formulation and results of five recent optimization algorithms: artificial bee colony, GA, differential evolution, particle swarm optimization and hybrid of (GA–SA). Simulation results indicated that choosing the SA rules would minimize the cost function, and also that, the IGA–SA algorithm could decrease the number of unnecessary handovers, and thereby prevent the ‘Ping-Pong’ effect. 相似文献

Traffic management is a highly beneficial mechanism for satisfying quality‐of‐service requirements and overcoming the resource scarcity problems in networks. This paper introduces an optimal connection admission control mechanism to decrease the packet loss ratio and end‐to‐end delay in cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs). This mechanism admits data flows based on the value of information sent by the sensor nodes, the network state, and the estimated required resources of the data flows. The number of required channels of each data flow is estimated using a proposed formula that is inspired by a graph coloring approach. The proposed admission control mechanism is formulated as a semi‐Markov decision process and a linear programming problem is derived to obtain the optimal admission control policy for obtaining the maximum reward. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism outperforms a recently proposed admission control mechanism in CRSNs. 相似文献

Cognitive radios (CRs) have been recently proposed for the problem of spectrum scarcity. The principle of CRs?? operation is based on the opportunistic access to the frequency spectrum mainly dedicated to primary users (PUs). The statistical time pattern of PUs?? channel usage and arrival can affect the usability of specific frequency bands for CRs. In this note, the effect of the arrival rate and channel holding time of PUs on the available times for CRs is analyzed. To this end, first, based on Poissonian arrivals, the available time for CRs is calculated. Then, assuming a gamma distribution for the inter-arrival times and a uniform distribution of channel holding time of PU in these intervals, the probability density function and moments of the available time for CRs are derived. Next, the effect of PUs statistical parameters on the average number of packets and the average symbol rate that a CR can transmit is analyzed. A CMOS distributed amplifier (DA) with low-power and flat and high power gain (S21) is presented. In order to decrease noise figure (NF) an RL terminating network used for the gate transmission line instead of single resistance. Besides, a flat and high S21 is achieved by using the proposed cascade gain cell consist of a cascode-stage with bandwidth extension capacitor. In the high-gain mode, under operation condition of V dd = 1.2 V and the overall current consumption of 7.8 mA, simulation result shown that the DA consumed 9.4 mW and achieved a flat and high S21 of 20.5 ± 0.5 dB with an average NF of 6.5 dB over the 11 GHz band of interest, one of the best reported flat gain performances for a CMOS UWB DA. In the low-gain mode, the DA achieved average S21 of 15.5 ± 0.25 dB and an average NF of 6.6 dB with low power consumption (PDC) of 3.6 mW, the lowest PDC ever reported for a CMOS DA or LNA with an average gain better than 10 dB. 相似文献

In this work we investigate the different efficiency behaviors of the devices with and without hole injection barrier, utilizing in our investigation the archetypical 4,4′-bis(carbazol-9-yl)biphenyl:Tris(2-phenylpyridine)iridium(III) host–guest PHOLEDs system. The results show that the recombination of electrons and holes on the host material generally leads to higher device efficiency in comparison to the case where recombination happens on the guest material. The results also show that in devices where a hole injection barrier between the HTL and the host material in the EML exists, the emission mechanism gradually changes from one based on host e–h recombination to one based on guest e–h recombination as the guest concentration is increased. When host e–h recombination is dominant, although it tends to produce higher device efficiency, host e–h recombination is generally also associated with significant efficiency roll-off; the latter arises from quenching of the host triplet excitons primarily due to host–host TTA. As the concentration of the guest molecules increases and the creation of host triplet excitons subsides (since most e–h recombination occurs on the guest) host–host TTA decreases, hence also the efficiency roll-off. In such case, quenching is mostly caused by polarons residing on guest sites. At optimum guest concentrations (∼8% Vol.), a balance between host e–h recombination and guest e–h recombination is reached, and thus also minimal TTA and Triplet-Polaron Quenching. On the other hand, in devices where hole injection barrier between the HTL and the host in the EML is insignificant, emission mechanism is always based on host e–h recombination irrespective of the guest concentration, and therefore have higher efficiency and the efficiency does not depend on guest concentration. The absence of the injection barrier in these devices results in a wider recombination zone, and hence a lower exciton concentration in general, which in turn reduces host–host TTA and thus lowers efficiency roll-off. In contrast, guest–guest TTA is not found to play a significant role in device efficiency behavior. 相似文献

This paper presents a novel approach to encapsulate prerecorded neural signals in implantable neural recording microsystems. We have increased the number of channels and the reconstructed neural signal quality in the receiver by combining time-division-multiplexing (TDM) and frequency-division-multiplexing (FDM) method. Reducing the number of channels in each TDM module is the fundamental advantage of this method that leads to reduced crosstalk noise. We evaluate some possible configurations and propose an optimized system that has less power dissipation and area occupation than other configurations. A 24-channel implantable neural recording based on the optimized system is designed in both system and circuit level. In this system, first, channels are divided into three 8-channel groups then after multiplexing in the time domain, they are combined together by FDM method. Finally, a frequency modulator wirelessly transmits neural signals to an external setup. In addition, we adjust local carrier frequencies and the bandwidth of TDM to synchronize detection without transmitting pilot carrier. To justify the system operation, using 0.18 μm CMOS technology, we design the system in circuit level. The designed circuit consumes a power of 1.39 mW at a supply voltage of 1.8 V. We address independent component analysis (ICA) of piecewise stationary and non-Gaussian signals and propose a novel ICA algorithm called Block EFICA that is based on this generalized model of signals. The method is a further extension of the popular non-Gaussianity-based FastICA algorithm and of its recently optimized variant called EFICA. In contrast to these methods, Block EFICA is developed to effectively exploit varying distribution of signals, thus, also their varying variance in time (nonstationarity) or, more precisely, in time-intervals (piecewise stationarity). In theory, the accuracy of the method asymptotically approaches Cramér–Rao lower bound (CRLB) under common assumptions when variance of the signals is constant. On the other hand, the performance is practically close to the CRLB even when variance of the signals is changing. This is demonstrated by comparing our algorithm with various methods that are asymptotically efficient within ICA models based either on the non-Gaussianity or the nonstationarity. The benefit of our algorithm is demonstrated by examples with real-world audio signals. 相似文献

dispersed on the surface of polyaniline film. The silver nanoparticles/PAni/Ti electrodes were examined for electro-catalytic
activity toward oxidation of hydrazine. The results show that these modified electrodes are highly active for electro-catalytic
