A new automatic approach for saccular intracranial aneurysm isolation is proposed in this work. Due to the inter- and intra-observer variability in manual delineation of the aneurysm neck, a definition based on a minimum cost path around the aneurysm sac is proposed that copes with this variability and is able to make consistent measurements along different data sets, as well as to automate and speedup the analysis of cerebral aneurysms. The method is based on the computation of a minimal path along a scalar field obtained on the vessel surface, to find the aneurysm neck in a robust and fast manner. The computation of the scalar field on the surface is obtained using a fast marching approach with a speed function based on the exponential of the distance from the centerline bifurcation between the aneurysm dome and the parent vessels. In order to assure a correct topology of the aneurysm sac, the neck computation is constrained to a region defined by a surface Voronoi diagram obtained from the branches of the vessel centerline. We validate this method comparing our results in 26 real cases with manual aneurysm isolation obtained using a cut-plane, and also with results obtained using manual delineations from three different observers by comparing typical morphological measures.  相似文献

The cement industry is one of the largest pollutant emitters. One way to cope with high pollutant emissions is to co‐combust biomass with pulverized coal. A mathematical model was developed, which is detailed enough to consider the complex physical and chemical behavior of the co‐combustion process but simple enough to perform simulations with a real geometry of cement rotary kiln within reasonable time. Numerical simulation with a 20‐% share of pulverized biomass of total fuel heating value was performed. An industrial rotary kiln geometry was simulated; temperature and velocity fields along with mass fractions of released volatiles and combustion products were analyzed. The model allows better insights in the co‐firing process with the main goal to reduce CO2 emissions by optimizing the combustion process inside the rotary kiln.  相似文献

BMPs regulate synovial quiescence and adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus in non-stress conditions. However, changes in BMP expression that are induced by inflammation during rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have not yet been reported. Here, we show that signalling with synovial BMPs (BMP-4 and -7) mediates the effect of systemic inflammation on adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus during pristane-induced arthritis (PIA) in Dark Agouti (DA) rats, an animal model of RA. Moreover, we show gender differences in BMP expressions and their antagonists (Noggin and Gremlin) during PIA and their correlations with the clinical course and IL-17A and TNF-α levels in serum. Our results indicate gender differences in the clinical course, where male rats showed earlier onset and earlier recovery but a worse clinical course in the first two phases of the disease (onset and peak), which correlates with the initial increase of serum IL-17A level. The clinical course of the female rats worsened in remission. Their prolonged symptoms could be a reflection of an increased TNF-α level in serum during remission. Synovial inflammation was greater in females in PIA-remission with greater synovial BMP and antagonist expressions. More significant correlations between serum cytokines (IL-17A and TNF-α), and synovial BMPs and their antagonists were found in females than in males. On the other hand, males showed an increase in hippocampal BMP-4 expression during the acute phase, but both genders showed a decrease in antagonist expressions during PIA in general. Both genders showed a decrease in the number of Ki-67+ and SOX-2+ and DCX+ cells and in the ratio of DCX+ to Ki67+ cells in the dentate gyrus during PIA. However, in PIA remission, females showed a faster increase in the number of Ki67+, SOX-2+, and DCX+ cells and a faster increase in the DCX/Ki67 ratio than males. Both genders showed an increase of hippocampal BMP-7 expression during remission, although males constantly showed greater BMP-7 expression at all time points. Our data show that gender differences exist in the BMP expressions in the periphery–hippocampus axis and in the IL-17A and TNF-α levels in serum, which could imply differences in the mechanisms for the onset and progression of the disease, the clinical course severity, and adult neurogenesis with subsequent neurological complications between genders.  相似文献

The effect of an organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) on the curing kinetics of a thermoset system based on a bisphenol A epoxy resin and a poly(oxypropylene)diamine curing agent were studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in isothermal and dynamic (constant heating rate) conditions. Montmorillonite and prepared composites were characterized by X‐ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry–thermogravimetric analysis (DSC–TGA). Analysis of DSC data indicated that the presence of the filler has a very small effect on the kinetics of cure. A kinetic model, arising from an autocatalyzed reaction mechanism, was applied to the DSC data. ABSTRACT

The most limiting features of titanium as a bone substituent are lack of bioactivity and high Young’s modulus. We have prepared titanium-hydroxyapatite (Ti-HAp) composites using titanium hydride as sintering agent to provide titanium sintering at lower temperature and preserve the stability of apatite phase. After low temperature sintering, no hydroxyapatite decomposition was detected. Pure titanium samples sintered in the presence of hydride showed smooth surface indicating good densification at 800°C. Higher HAp content resulted in decreased density and higher porosity due to the formation of micro- and macro-pores caused by the integration of HAp particles into titanium matrix and titanium hydride decomposition. However, Vickers microhardness test showed increased hardness for Ti-HAp composite with 10% of HAp regarding pure Ti. The bioactivity of Ti-HAp composites evaluated in simulated body fluid significantly improved with HAp content. The presence of HAp has lowered the cytotoxic effect of Ti-based composites on Hek293 cells.  相似文献

Comprehension of the nature of the micellisation process is of great importance for the characterisation of micelles and the assessment of their applications. In this research, the influences of temperature and the length of the hydrophobic chain on the micellisation process of polyoxyethylene (10) stearyl ether (PE10) with polysorbate 20 and polysorbate 60 were studied. Values of critical micelle concentrations (CMC) of the individual surfactants and of their binary mixtures were acquired by spectrofluorimetric measurements, in the temperature range 273.15–313.15 K, using pyrene as a probe molecule. Obtained CMC values served for the calculation of interaction parameters and excess Gibbs energies of the mixed micelles. It was found that in PE10—polysorbate 20 mixed micelles (due to a shorter hydrophobic segment of polysorbate 20 molecule) PE10 alkyl chains were more likely to assume globular conformations in the interior of micelles, in comparison to PE10—polysorbate 60 mixed micelles (in which hydrophobic segments had the same lengths). For each analysed binary system, interaction parameter decreased with the rise of temperature. It could be assumed that on higher temperatures the hydrophobic chains of studied surfactants were more likely to take globular conformations, having higher values of conformational freedom. This observation implied that the process of micellisation was followed by an increase in entropy. Accordingly, the excess Gibbs energy of micellisation was determined not only by entropic contributions, but also by enthalpic input.  相似文献

Optical constants of thin metal films are strongly dependent on deposition conditions, growth mode, and thickness. We propose a universal characterization approach that allows reliable determination of thin metal film optical constants as functions of wavelength and thickness.
