The approaches to nondestructive testing by the electromagnetic-acoustic transformation (EMAT) of Rayleigh waves within the region of the elasticity limit and at the beginning of the region of plastic deformations under tension of ferromagnetic metals and alloys are discussed. It is shown that these approaches must be varied for materials having the magnetostriction with an opposite sign and also for different tasks: either a material is tested under a load or after removing a load. It is proposed to monitor the displacement of the maximum of the EMAT-efficiency field curve with the use of the magnetization bias field and the amplitude of the received signal depending on a tensile load. The possibilities of constructing calibration curves and testing without them are demonstrated. 相似文献

Curved structural members are widely seen in our surroundings, such as railway supports in playgrounds resembling a c-ring structure. The common geometry of the curved member consists of a segment of a circular ring with a uniform width. The curved section is of constant width in most cardiovascular stents. This study focuses on curved strut members whose width changes along the curved segment. The location of the maximum equivalent stress varies depending on the manner in which the width changes. When the width is constant or larger toward the top, the maximum equivalent stress is developed at the top. Meanwhile, when the area is reduced toward the bottom, the largest equivalent stress is developed some distance from the top. Simple equations, based on the mechanics of materials and the theory of elasticity, were compared favorably with the results from finite element analysis. Included are elaborations of the distribution of the change of stress. The suggested strategy of changing the width, with refinements, could be applied to the optimal design of structural members, including pipes and medical devices such as stents. 相似文献

A Virtual Proving Ground (VPG) is a vehicle simulation environment used for evaluating durability of the suspension elements.
Among the components that comprise the VPG system, the tire model with its complex nonlinear characteristics has most significant
impact on the credibility of the estimated durability. This research proposes a method for generating an equivalent road profile
as a way to compensate for the limits involved in modeling details of the tire characteristics. The method first identifies
the frequency response function from the road heights to the spindle forces, which would contain rich information on the tire’s
effect on the vehicle dynamics. Then it back-calculates a road profile using this model and the spindle force measurement.
Finally the solution is updated iteratively until it yields the spindle forces close to their measured values. Using the proposed
method, an equivalent road profile was successfully generated from a spindle force measurement collected from a physical durability
test. In order to investigate validity of the proposed method, durability analysis was performed for a suspension component
— a lower control arm. From the preliminary VPG simulation results, it was confirmed that the estimated fatigue life agreed

microfluidic channel system to generate Janus droplets is designed and fabricated, where the term Janus droplet refers to a chemically biphasic droplet. It is demonstrated that Janus droplets are formed from elongational breakup of coflowing core fluids which are constrained by a sheath fluid on both sides of them. Rhodamine B is adopted as an indicator to indentify generated Janus droplets. Monodisperse Janus droplets have been generated in a controllable manner such that those with average diameters of 26 ± 1.24 μm, 31 ± 1.44 μm and 34 ± 2.28 μm are formed in accordance with flow rate ratios between the sheath fluid and the core fluids, 30.7, 36.4 and 44.4, respectively. Generation of Janus droplets, demonstrated in the present study, has seen a new application in the areas of biotechnology and bioengineering, where enhanced mixing inside the micro bubbles can be utilized without the aid of other means of droplet generation and merging. 相似文献

Skin biopsy for AK diagnosis is usually performed on only a limited part of the whole lesion. Therefore, a clinical diagnosis is important. According to a study, there is no significant correlation between histopathological and clinical classification system. We examined the correlation between microscopic information and dermoscopic findings to deduce if dermoscopic information reflects histopathologic grade severity. Forty seven patients with histologically confirmed AK were enrolled and positive ratio of red pseudonetwork, rosette, red background and targetoid signs, white‐to‐yellow scale, white structureless area, and pigmentation from dermoscopic findings were investigated. Furthermore, viable epidermal thickness, vessel lumen dimensions, existence and thickness of ortho‐ and parakeratosis, degree of sola elastosis, flag sign existence, and Roewert‐Huber classification were measured as histologic findings. Red background did not show a significant correlation with vascular dimension or viable epidermal thickness. When targetoid sign was present, vascular dimension was significantly larger but showed no correlation with viable epidermal thickness, parakeratosis or orthokeratosis. Solar elastosis level was significantly higher when white‐to‐yellow scale was present. According to Spearman's correlation analysis, ortho/parakeratotic thickness showed correlations with each other. The negative correlation between viable epidermal thickness and vascular dimension was also shown. Roewert‐Huber histologic AK classification showed no correlation with any factors we checked. Factors considered to be characteristic features of AK in dermoscopy seemed unassociated with histologic AK classification and additional research is needed to determine degree of dysplasia of AK lesions using dermoscopy. 相似文献

Coroning is a complex and multi-directional gear finishing process involving metal removal of gear teeth surface, and condition monitoring has not been applied to this process. In order to capture the progress of wear, an acoustic emission (AE) sensor is used, but the large data size of AE requires extensive dimension reduction and feature selection. The conventional method of averaging to reduce the data size may have the risk of losing information as higher frequencies are filtered off. A two-step feature selection method is implemented using class mean scatter criterion and modified relevance/redundancy analysis. This method results in feature dimension reduction and enhances classification performance. It involves first ranking candidate features by calculating their separability. Features which are correlated are then combined to reduce dimensions without averaging. Application of this two-step feature selection technique enables coroning tool wear to be monitored with a classification rate of 98.3 % compared to 94.1 % using conventional feature selection. 相似文献

The automotive industry has shown increasing interest in tube hydroforming. Despite many automobile structural parts being produced from cylindrical tubes, failures frequently occur during tube hydroforming under improper forming conditions. These problems include wrinkling, buckling, folding back, and bursting.We perform analytical studies to determine forming limits in tube hydroforming and demonstrate how these forming limits are influenced by the loading path. of Saccharomyces diastaticus-originated glucoamylase in Saccharomyces cerevisiase expression system using its own signal sequence and the SUC2 promoter that is regulated by glucose level in culture medium. In the present work, we performed a comparative study between
batch and fed-batch bioreactor cultures for secreted production of recombinant glucoamylase. Through maintaining low glucose
levels in the culture broth, we obtained about 7-fold higher secreted production levels of glucoamlyase in fed-batch culture.
Fed-batch culture strategy also enhanced (∼3.1-fold) secretion efficiency of recombinant glucoamylase in S. cerevisiae. 相似文献
