The electrochemical behavior of low carbon steel (API 5L grade B) in 1 mol/L HCI solution with different concentrations of N,Nr-bis(4-formylphenol)-trimethylenediamine Schiff base was studied by electrochemical techniques and density functional theory analysis. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase with increasing inhibitor concentration and decreased with increasing temperature. The high inhibition efficiency was attributed to the blocking of active sites by adsorption of inhibitor molecules on the steel surface. Thermodynamic parameters for the adsorption and activation processes were determined. Galvanostatic polarization data indicated that Schiff base act as a mixed-type inhibitor and the adsorption isotherm obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Results obtained from quantum chemical studies show excellent correlations between the quantum chemical parameters and the experimental inhibition efficiencies using density functional theory at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) and B3LYP/3-21G basis set levels and ab initio calculations using HF/6-31G(d,p) and HF/3-21G methods.  相似文献

Membrane sealing effects of polymersomes made of tri-block copolymer, PEG-co-FA/SC-co-PEG, (PFSP) were studied on isolated spinal cord strips, PC12 cell lines and artificial bilayer following mechanical impact implemented by aneurism clip, sonication and electric shock, respectively. The homogeneity and size of PFSP, membrane permeability and cell viability were assessed by dynamic light scattering, LDH release and MTT assays. According to the results, the biocompatible, physico-chemical, size, surface charge and amphipathic nature of PFSP polymersome makes it an ideal macromolecule to rapidly reseal damaged membranes of cells in injured spinal cord as well as in culture medium. Compound action potentials recorded from intentionally damaged spinal cord strips incubated with PFSP showed restoration of neural excitability by 82.24 % and conduction velocity by 96.72 % after 5 min that monitored in real time. Thus, they triggered efficient instant and sustained sealing of membrane and reactivation of temporarily inactivated axons. Treatment of ultrasonically damaged PC12 cells by PFSP caused efficient cell membrane repair and led to their increased viability. The optimum effects of PFSP on stabilization and impermeabilizing of the lipid bilayer occurred at the same concentrations applied to the damaged cells and spinal cord fibers and was approved by restoration of membrane conductance and calcein release manifested by NanoDrop technique. The unique physico-chemical characteristics of novel polymersomes introduced here, make them capable to reorganize membrane lipid molecules, reseal the breaches and restore the hydrophobic insulation in spinal cord damaged cells. Thus, they might be considered in the clinical treatment of SCI at early stages.  相似文献

We report a type of infrared switchable plasmonic quantum cascade laser, in which far field light in the midwave infrared (MWIR, 6.1 μm) is modulated by a near field interaction of light in the telecommunications wavelength (1.55 μm). To achieve this all-optical switch, we used cross-polarized bowtie antennas and a centrally located germanium nanoslab. The bowtie antenna squeezes the short wavelength light into the gap region, where the germanium is placed. The perturbation of refractive index of the germanium due to the free carrier absorption produced by short wavelength light changes the optical response of the antenna and the entire laser intensity at 6.1 μm significantly. This device shows a viable method to modulate the far field of a laser through a near field interaction.  相似文献

The fracture toughness and deformation mechanism of PP/CaCO3 (15 wt.%) composites were studied and related to load-bearing capacity of the particles. To alter the load-bearing capacity of the particles, different particle sizes (0.07–7 μm) with or without stearic acid coating were incorporated. The fracture toughness of the composites was determined using J-Integral method and the deformation mechanism was studied by transmission optical microscopy of the crack tip damage zone. It was observed that the load-bearing capacity of the particles decreased by reduction of particle size and application of coating. A linear relationship between normalized fracture toughness and inverse of load-bearing capacity of particles was found. The crack tip damage zone in composites, which consists in massive crazing, further grows by reduction in load-bearing capacity.  相似文献

Two studies examined contingent take-home medication doses during treatment of opiate or cocaine dependence. In the first study, methadone maintenance patients were randomly assigned to one of two 8-week baseline take-home (TH) conditions differing in frequency of clinic visits per week. This was followed by a 12-week contingency management (CM) procedure in which frequent THs resulted from drug-free urines. Participants receiving more frequent THs during baseline had lower illicit drug use during the first 6 weeks of CM. In the second study, fluoxetine (0-, 20-, 40-mg) TH doses were similarly contingent in treatment of cocaine dependence. The 40-mg group used less cocaine during contingency than did other groups. Fully polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) Earth Observations showed great potential for mapping and monitoring agro-environmental systems. Numerous polarimetric features can be extracted from these complex observations which may lead to improve accuracy of land-cover classification and object characterization. This article employed two well-known decision tree ensembles, i.e. bagged tree (BT) and random forest (RF), for land-cover mapping from PolSAR imagery. Moreover, two fast modified decision tree ensembles were proposed in this article, namely balanced filter-based forest (BFF) and cost-sensitive filter-based forest (CFF). These algorithms, designed based on the idea of RF, use a fast filter feature selection algorithms and two extended majority voting. They are also able to embed some solutions of imbalanced data problem into their structures. Three different PolSAR datasets, with imbalanced data, were used for evaluating efficiency of the proposed algorithms. The results indicated that all the tree ensembles have higher efficiency and reliability than the individual DT. Moreover, both proposed tree ensembles obtained higher mean overall accuracy (0.5–14% higher), producer’s accuracy (0.5–10% higher), and user’s accuracy (0.5–9% higher) than the classical tree ensembles, i.e. BT and RF. They were also much faster (e.g. 2–10 times) and more stable than their competitors for classification of these three datasets. In addition, unlike BT and RF, which obtained higher accuracy in large ensembles (i.e. the high number of DT), BFF and CFF can also be more efficient and reliable in smaller ensembles. Furthermore, the extended majority voting techniques could outperform the classical majority voting for decision fusion.  相似文献

The effect of residual stress on the fracture of chemically strengthened thin aluminosilicate glass was investigated. The large deflection problem on the flexure of thin chemically strengthened glass was solved through finite element analysis. The relationship among compressive stress (CS), central tension (CT), and the modulus of rupture of chemically strengthened thin glass was also discussed. High CS and low CT improved the flexural strength of chemically strengthened glass. However, the effect of residual stress was more complex on Weibull modulus than on strength. The effect of residual stress on the fractography of chemically strengthened thin glass was analyzed. Transparent and opaque zones were observed on the fracture surface of chemically strengthened glass. The relative thickness of the opaque zone (d Opaque/d 0), which is a constant in the same fracture zone, linearly decreased with increasing fracture zone. This result indicates that the stored elastic strain energy was released with the number of transverse cracks. These results provide useful information on the failure analysis of chemically strengthened thin glass.  相似文献

(Hf1-xZrx)B2 solid solution powders were synthesized by two methods. First, solution-based processing of HfCl4, ZrCl4, sucrose, and H3BO3 was conducted followed by heat treatment in Argon to carry out the carbothermal reduction (CTR) reaction to form the diboride powders. Alternatively, in the so-called borohydride reduction (BHR) method, HfCl4, ZrCl4 and NaBH4 were mixed in an Argon glove box followed by heat treatment in Argon at 700?1500 °C. The synthesized powders were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS, and TGA, and the influence of different parameters such as starting composition, heat treatment temperature and time on products characteristics were revealed. Both CTR and BHR solid solution powders were then consolidated within ~5 min in a homemade flash sintering (FS) setup. The composition, microstructure, hardness, and thermal-oxidation properties of flash sintered ceramics were characterized, and the implication of this study and directions for future research were discussed.  相似文献
