The semicrystalline morphology of injection moldings of polyamide 11 (PA 11) prepared using mold temperatures of 25, 50, and 80°C was investigated. Regardless of the mold temperature, position‐resolved X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and polarized‐light optical microscopy (POM) revealed presence of poor/imperfect α‐crystals with an almost hexagonal arrangement of molecular stems in a nonspherulitic superstructure in the skin, and formation of α‐crystals and spherulites in the core. With increasing mold temperature, the thickness of the skin layer decreased, and the perfection of α‐crystals and the spherulite size in the core increased. The experimental observations are discussed in terms of predicted crystallization temperatures, with the prediction based on cooling‐rate simulations for the various parts of the injection moldings using Moldflow® and analysis of crystallization of the relaxed melt using fast scanning chip calorimetry, XRD, and POM. It is shown that the structure gradient in PA 11 injection moldings can be forecast without considering the effects of shear for this particular polymer. POLYM. ENG. Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) convert heat to electrical energy by means of the Seebeck effect. The Seebeck coefficient is a central thermoelectric material property, measuring the magnitude of the thermovoltage generated in response to a temperature difference across a thermoelectric material. Precise determination of the Seebeck coefficient provides the basis for reliable performance assessment in materials development in the field of thermoelectrics. For several reasons, measurement uncertainties of up to 14% can often be observed in interlaboratory comparisons of temperature-dependent Seebeck coefficient or in error analyses on currently employed instruments. This is still too high for an industrial benchmark and insufficient for many scientific investigations and technological developments. The TESt (thermoelectric standardization) project was launched in 2011, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), to reduce measurement uncertainties, engineer traceable and precise thermoelectric measurement techniques for materials and TEGs, and develop reference materials (RMs) for temperature-dependent determination of the Seebeck coefficient. We report herein the successful development and qualification of cobalt-doped β-iron disilicide (β-Fe0.95Co0.05Si2) as a RM for high-temperature thermoelectric metrology. A brief survey on technological processes for manufacturing and machining of samples is presented. Focus is placed on metrological qualification of the iron disilicide, results of an international round-robin test, and final certification as a reference material in accordance with ISO-Guide 35 and the “Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement” by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, the national metrology institute of Germany. 相似文献

In this study, bacteriocin “BacTN635” was used to maintain quality and extend shelf life of refrigerated turkey meat sausage. Connections between lipid and protein oxidations and instrumentally textural changes using Bayesian networks during storage of turkey meat sausage were also studied. BacTN635 slowed down metmyoglobin and carbonyl group accumulation and delayed the disappearance of sulphydryl proteins (P < 0.05) in turkey meat sausage. This bacteriocin led to a decrease in primary and secondary lipid oxidation (P < 0.05) and enhanced texture characteristics of sausage by reducing hardness (P < 0.05) and controlling the elasticity lose during refrigeration. We have also investigated the correlations between protein and lipid oxidation and instrumentally measured the parameters of turkey meat sausage treated by BacTN635. The developed model, based on Bayesian network techniques, can automatically learn emerging models in data to explain protein and lipid oxidation and texture modification relationships. Equally, sensorial parameters were used for constructing regression models to predict overall acceptability. In conclusion, BacTN635 could be a promising tool for extending the safety and quality of refrigerated turkey meat sausage. Using isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS), the ratios of carbon (δ
13C) and nitrogen (δ
15N) stable isotopes were investigated in raw fillets of differently grown Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) in order to develop a method for the identification of organically farmed salmon. IRMS allowed to distinguish organically
farmed salmon (OS) from wild salmon (WS), with δ
15N-values being higher in OS, but not from conventionally farmed salmon (CS). The gas chromatographic analysis of fatty acids
differentiated WS from CS by stearic acid as well as WS from CS and OS by either linoleic acid or α-linolenic acid, but not
OS from CS. The combined data were subjected to analysis using an artificial neural network (ANN). The ANN yielded several
combinations of input data that allowed to assign all 100 samples from Ireland and Norway correctly to the three different
classes. Although the complete assignment could already be achieved using fatty acid data only, it appeared to be more robust
with a combination of fatty acid and IRMS data, i.e. with two independent analytical methods. This is also favourable with
respect to a possible manipulation using suitable feed components. A good differentiation was established even without an
ANN by the δ
15N-value and the content of linoleic acid. The general applicability in the context of consumer protection should be checked

Gutting was applied to fresh horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus) to study its effect on rancidity development during a prolonged frozen storage (up to 12 months at −20°C). To do so, chemical (free fatty acids, FFA; peroxide value, PV; thiobarbituric acid index, TBA-i; fluorescence ratio, FR) and sensory (odour and taste) analyses were carried out. The results showed that the gutting of horse mackerel led to a higher degree of oxidation in the frozen product, according to the chemical (PV, TBA-i and FR) and sensory (odour and taste) analyses. However, a lower extent of lipid hydrolysis (FFA formation) was detected at the end of the storage (twelfth month) as a result of gutting. It is concluded that the gutting of a medium-fat fish species such as horse mackerel is not recommended as previous treatment to frozen storage. 相似文献

Psoriasis is a recurrent, chronic, immune-mediated, systemic inflammatory disease of the skin, joints, and other organic systems. After atopic dermatitis, chronic stationary psoriasis is the most common inflammatory skin disease, affecting an average of 2–4% of the world’s population. The disease carries a significant burden due to its numerous comorbidities and the major impact on patients’ social and emotional aspects of life. According to current knowledge, psoriasis is a multifactorial disease that occurs in genetically predisposed individuals under various environmental factors, which trigger an immune response disorder with a series of complex inflammatory cascades. The disease is initiated and maintained by mutual interaction of the innate and adaptive immune cells, primarily dendritic cells, T lymphocytes, and keratinocytes, whose leading role alternates at different stages of the disease, consisting mainly in the IL-23/Th17 pathway. Inflammatory events result in consequent epidermal and dermal changes and evolution of the characteristic psoriatic phenotype, respectively. Melanomas are aggressive tumors with a high metastatic potential and an increasing incidence rate. They are known for their heterogeneity and propensity to easily develop therapy-resistance. Nowadays they are one of the most common cancers diagnosed during pregnancy. Due to the difficulty in balancing maternal needs and foetal safety, melanoma is challenging to treat. The aim of this study was to provide a potential model system for the study of melanoma in pregnancy and to illustrate melanoma heterogeneity. For this purpose, a pigmented and a non-pigmented section of a lymph node metastasis from a pregnant patient were cultured under different conditions and characterized in detail. All four culture conditions exhibited different phenotypic, genotypic as well as tumorigenic properties, and resulted in four newly established melanoma cell lines. To address treatment issues, especially in pregnant patients, the effect of synthetic human lactoferricin-derived peptides was tested successfully. These new BRAF-mutated MUG Mel3 cell lines represent a valuable model in melanoma heterogeneity and melanoma pregnancy research. Furthermore, treatment with anti-tumor peptides offers an alternative to conventionally used therapeutic options—especially during pregnancy. 相似文献
