The effect of ethanol on the fatty acid desaturation by rat liver has been studied using liquid diets of different composition.
Acute ethanol administration increased triacylglycerols of total liver lipids, but did not modify significantly the lipidic
composition of microsomes. The Δ6 and Δ5 desaturases were inhibited by ethanol whereas the Δ9 desaturase and fatty acid synthetase
were apparently modified only by diet composition. NADH-cytochrome (cyt.) c reductase was partially inhibited, whereas NADH-cyt.
b5 reductase remained practically unaltered and NADPH-cyt. c reductase activity was enhanced. Decreased electrons supplied by

Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC) has proven to be a powerful tool for optimal regulation of chemical processes under constrained conditions. It is based on a linear convolution model derived from step-response measurements. A model predictive control algorithm optimises closed-loop performance for a nominal operating point. However, as the process moves away from this point, control usually becomes sub-optimal due to process non-linearity. As seen in this work, the DMC algorithm can be made adaptive, to establish a new local model, by recursive estimation of the local step response parameters from normal plant variations. However, when used for control of plants containing integrating process units, steady-state offsets occur for sustained changes. Thus, a novel Adaptive Linear Dynamic Matrix Control (ALDMC) algorithm has been developed and used to control a 2-input/2-output system with an integrating behaviour. Comparisons of model control and plant control with and without these features demonstrated the importance of integral compensation for integrating processes, and model adaptation in the case of plant/model mismatch. Some cross-compensation of integration by the adaptive feature was also noted. An holistic technique is demonstrated which simultaneously recognises residual integration disturbances and matrix parameter variations, whereas previous techniques which recognise only one of these will fail in the presence of the other. 相似文献

The compatibility of the hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) with maleic acid–vinyl acetate copolymer in the solid state was studied by thermogravimetry, thermo‐optical analysis, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and optical microscopy. It was established that physical interactions are prevalent in blends with a high content of HPC, whereas chemical interactions predominate in blends with a medium and low content of HPC. By increasing the temperature, the thermochemical reactions are favored. Thermal properties are dependent on the mixing ratio of the components. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A calcium magnesium aluminosilicate-based glass that contained 10 wt% of silicon carbide whiskers (SiC w ) as reinforcement was prepared by tape casting, followed by sintering either in a conventional furnace or in a microwave oven. The results were consistent with retardation of glass sintering through whisker bridging. The glass, by itself, was sintered to almost-full density at 750°C for 4 h by conventional furnace sintering; the best sintered composite, with an estimated density of ∼90%, was obtained at 800°C with a dwell time of 4 h. Sintering at a temperature of >800°C did not improve the densification but rather resulted in severe whisker oxidation. A reduced densification rate was observed for the samples that were sintered in nitrogen. By contrast, in the microwave oven, almost-full density for the glass and ∼95% of the theoretical density for the composite were obtainable at 850°C for 15 min, which represented a reduction of ∼10 h of the total processing time and a reduced SiC w oxidation. 相似文献

A comparative study of the phospholipids of white muscle of six of the comercially utilized tuna species, including quantitative
analyses of phospholipid classes and studies of the acyl composition of the major components. Plasmalogen compounds also were
identified and quantified. Choline and ethanolamine glycerophospholipids were the most abundant classes in all the samples,
as well as the only molecules containing plasmalogens (16∶0, 18∶0, and 18∶1 alkenyl ether chains). The patterns of fatty acid
distribution within each of the phospholipid classes showed general similarities in the species analyzed. However, ratios
between certain saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids in different phospholipid classes showed remarkable diffences. The
high content of n−3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the principal phospholipids, such as the plasmalogens, and taking into
account the fatty acids possible importance in human nutrition, indicates that the white muscle of tuna species may be a potentially

The enzymatic degradation of poly(N‐isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAM) grafted to carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) copolymers with a cellulasic preparation (Trichoderma viride) was studied. The enzymatic activity of the cellulasic preparation against CMC and the grafted copolymers was determined by the Petterson–Porath method, while their reduced viscosity variation in the presence of the same preparation was also followed. It has been shown that the enzymatic degradation behavior depends on the copolymer composition and the reaction temperature. Reducing sugars analysis showed that the experimental values for the grafted copolymers were higher than the calculated ones. At 50°C, the enzymatic reaction is completed in about 20 min for the copolymers, whereas for CMC it takes more than 40 min. The real (ε′) and imaginary (ε″) components of the complex permittivity of blends of PVDF [poly(vinylidene fluoride)] with POMA [poly(o‐methoxyaniline)] doped with toluenosulfonic acid (TSA) containing 1, 2.5, and 5 wt % POMA–TSA were determined in the frequency interval between 102 and 3 × 106 Hz and in the temperature range from ?120 up to 120°C. It was observed that the values of ε′ and ε″ had a greater increase with the POMA–TSA content and with a temperature in the region of frequencies below 10 kHz. This effect decreased with frequency and it was attributed to interfacial polarization. This polarization was caused by the blend heterogeneity, formed by conductive POMA–TSA agglomerates dispersed in an insulating matrix of PVDF. The equation of Maxwell–Garnett, modified by Cohen, was used to evaluate the permittivity and conductivity behavior of POMA–TSA in the blends. A strong decrease was observed in POMA–TSA conductivity in the blend, which was bigger the lower the POMA–TSA content in the blend. This decrease could have been caused either by the POMA dedoping during the blend preparation process or by its dispersion into the insulating matrix. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article concerns the in situ compatibilization of immiscible isotactic polypropylene/butadiene‐styrene‐butadiene triblock copolymer blends (i‐PP/SBS) by means of a reactive mixture. For this purpose, maleated PP (PP‐MAH) and SBS (SBS‐MAH) were used as functionalized polymers and 4,4′‐diaminediphenylmethane was used as a coupling agent between maleated polymers, resulting in a graft copolymer. Binary blends i‐PP/SBS, nonreactive ternary blends i‐PP/PP‐MAH/SBS, and reactive ternary blends i‐PP/PP‐MAH/SBS‐MAH with varying diamine and anhydride molar ratios were prepared. Torque measurements suggest a graft copolymerization during the melt blending for ternary reactive blends, but the extension of the grafting does not vary with the diamine and anhydride molar ratio, but with the elastomer concentration. The morphology of the blends was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The morphology of binary and ternary nonreactive blends is similar, exhibiting elastomer domains disperse in the i‐PP matrix, whose sizes increase with elastomer concentration. On the other hand, the elastomer domain size in the ternary reactive blends is practically independent of the blends composition and of the diamine and anhydride molar ratio. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The complexity of new information technologies (IT) may limit the access of elderly people to the information society, exacerbating what is known as “the digital divide,” as they appear to be too challenging for elderly citizens regardless of the integrity of their cognitive status. This study is an attempt to clarify how some cognitive functions (such as attention or verbal memory) may determine the interaction of cognitively impaired elderly people with technology. Twenty participants ranging from mild cognitive impairment to moderate Alzheimer’s disease were assessed by means of a neuropsychological and functional battery and were asked to follow simple commands from an avatar appearing on a TV by means of a remote control, such as asking the participant to confirm their presence or to respond Yes/No to a proposal to see a TV program. The number of correct answers and command repetitions required for the user to respond were registered. The results show that participants with a better cognitive and functional state in specific tests show a significantly better performance in the TV task. The derived conclusion is that neuropsychological assessment may be used as a useful complementary tool for assistive technology developers in the adaptation of IT to the elderly with different cognitive and functional profiles. Further studies with larger samples are required to determine to what extent cognitive functions can actually predict older users’ interaction with technology. 相似文献

This work focuses on camera-based systems that are designed for mouse replacement. Usually, these interfaces are based on computer vision techniques that capture the user’s face or head movements and are specifically designed for users with disabilities. The work identifies and reviews the key factors of these interfaces based on the lessons learnt by the authors’ experience and by a comprehensive analysis of the literature to describe the specific points to consider in their design. These factors are as follows: user features to track, initial user detection (calibration), position mapping, feedback, error recovery, event execution, profiles and ergonomics of the system. The work compiles the solutions offered by different systems to help new designers avoid problems already discussed by the others. 相似文献
