A transient wear process on frictional interface of two thermo‐elastic bodies in a relative steady sliding motion induces shape evolution of contact interface and tends to a steady state for which the wear process occurs at fixed contact stress and strain distribution. The temperature field generated by frictional and wear dissipation on the contact surface is assumed to reach a steady state. This state is assumed to correspond to minimum of the wear dissipation power and the temperature field corresponds to maximum of the heat entropy production. The stationarity conditions of the response functionals provide the contact pressure distribution and the corresponding temperature field. The present approach extends the authors previous analyses of optimal or steady‐state contact shapes by accounting for coupled wear and thermal distortion effects. The wear rule is assumed as a non‐linear relation of wear rate to shear stress and relative sliding velocity. The analysis of disk and drum brakes is presented with account for thermal distortion effect. It is shown that the contact shape in a steady thermo‐elastic state essentially differs from that specified for mechanical loading with neglect of thermal effects. Objective: The aim was to study the stability of dry powder inhaler (DPI) formulations containing antibiotic with different preparation ways – carrier-based, carrier-free, and novel combined formulation – and thereby to compare their physicochemical and in vitro–in silico aerodynamical properties before and after storage. Presenting a novel combined technology in the field of DPI formulation including the carrier-based and carrier-free methods, it is the most important reason to introduce this stable formulation for the further development of DPIs.

Methods: The structure, the residual solvent content, the interparticle interactions, the particle size distribution and the morphology of the samples were studied. The aerodynamic values were determined based on the cascade impactor in vitro lung model. We tested the in silico behavior of the novel combined formulated samples before and during storage.

Results: The physical measurements showed that the novel combined formulated sample was the most favorable. It was found that thanks to the formulation technique and the use of magnesium stearate (MgSt) has a beneficial effect on the stability compared with the carrier-based formulation without MgSt and carrier-free formulations. The results of in vitro and in silico lung models were consistent with the physical results, so the highest deposition was found for the novel combined formulated sample during the storage.

Conclusions: It can be established that after the storage a novel combined formulated DPI contained amorphous drug to have around 2.5?μm mass median aerodynamic diameter and nearly 50% fine particle fraction predicted high lung deposition in silico also.  相似文献

Friesian steers (n=5), aged 26–27 months, were fed a diet containing 2000 (supplemented) IU α-tocopheryl acetate/head/day for approximately 50 days prior to slaughter. Muscularis semimembranosus muscles from supplemented cattle were held in frozen storage (−20°C×12 weeks) following which they were minced and divided into five batches. The batches contained: (1) control, containing only vitamin E supplemented beef (C); (2) vitamin E supplemented beef with 4% soya oil (S); (3) vitamin E supplemented beef mixed with 0.2% Duralox NMC dissolved in 4% soya oil (R1); (4) vitamin E supplemented beef mixed with 0.25% Herbalox type 25 (containing 25 natural antioxidant extracts of rosemary) dissolved in 4% soya oil (R2); and (5) vitamin E supplemented beef mixed with a 1:1 mixture of 0.01% (w/w) BHA and 0.01% (w/w) BHT dissolved in 4% soya oil (B). The meat was then aerobically packaged (A) or packaged under the following modified atmospheres (MAP); 30:70 (M1); 70:30 (M2) or 80:20 (M3) (O2:CO2). Oxidative stability (TBARS) and Hunter ‘a’ values (redness) were determined in all beef patties over 8 days of refrigerated (4°C) storage. Under MAP or aerobic packaging conditions, elevated oxygen levels brought about increased (P<0.05) TBARS numbers during refrigerated storage. However, the addition of rosemary extracts or BHA/BHT significantly (P<0.05) improved the oxidative stability of dietary α-tocopheryl acetate supplemented beef. Rosemary extracts were as effective in reducing TBARS as the combination of synthetic antioxidants, BHA/BHT.  相似文献

In a previous work the effect of ionising radiation on formation of cholesterol oxidation products (COPs) under aerobic conditions was studied. In the present work the influence of aerobic and anoxic conditions have been comparatively investigated to study the chemical changes of cholesterol in γ-irradiated egg powder. The irradiation treatment was carried out with powdered egg packed under air and also under vacuum in polyethylene (PE) bags and in laminated, oxygen impermeable three-layer (polyester-aluminium-polyethylene) foil to dosage levels 2 and 4 kGy at room temperature. The cholesterol oxidation is demonstrated by thin-layer chromatograms. In the egg powder wrapped in PE bags the predominant cholesterol derivatives?7-hydroxycholesterol isomers (α and β)—accumulated in significant amounts (increasing with dose) while vacuum-packaging in laminated foil considerably suppressed the quantity of these products and prevented the formation of cholesterol 5α, 6α-epoxide as well as 7-ketocholesterol. Little or no change was observed in non-irradiated (control) vacuum-packed egg powder stored at approximately 22°C for up to 5 months. Peroxide values showed changes parallel to the formation of COPs.  相似文献

A twofold refinement of the basic mathematical model for describing a coupled heat and mass transfer taking place in porous media is presented. The common application of irreversible thermodynamics and fluctuation theory of phase transitions is proposed for calculating the moisture level and temperature. Instead of parabolic partial differential equations, hyperbolic type partial differential equations are used. The relaxation time constants, whose percolation state-dependence is also taken into account, are incorporated into this formalism. Some possible new research domains in mathematical and statistical physics are also indicated.  相似文献

This paper describes the integration of a photovoltaic (PV) renewable energy source with a superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system. The integrated system can improve the voltage stability of the utility grid and achieve power leveling. The control schemes employ model predictive control (MPC), which has gained significant attention in recent years because of its advantages such as fast response and simple implementation. The PV system provides maximum power at various irradiation levels using the incremental conductance technique (INC). The interfaced grid side converter of the SMES can control the grid voltage by regulating its injected reactive power to the grid, while the charge and discharge operation of the SMES coil can be managed by the system operator to inject/absorb active power to/from the grid to achieve the power leveling strategy. Simulation results based on MATLAB/Simulink® software prove the fast response of the system control objectives in tracking the setpoints at different loading scenarios and PV irradiance levels, while the SMES injects/absorbs active and reactive power to/from the grid during various events to improve the voltage response and achieve power leveling strategy.  相似文献

CRISPR-Cas is an adaptive immunity system of prokaryotes, composed of CRISPR arrays and the associated proteins. The successive addition of spacer sequences in the CRISPR array has made the system a valuable molecular marker, with multiple applications. Due to the high degree of polymorphism of the CRISPR loci, their comparison in bacteria from various sources may provide insights into the evolution and spread of the CRISPR-Cas systems. The aim of this study was to establish a correlation between the enterobacterial CRISPR loci, the sequence of direct repeats (DR), and the number of spacer units, along with the geographical origin and collection source. For this purpose, 3474 genomes containing CRISPR loci from the CRISPRCasdb of Salmonella enterica, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae were analyzed, and the information regarding the isolates was recorded from the NCBI database. The most prevalent was the I-E CRISPR-Cas system in all three studied taxa. E. coli also presents the I-F type, but in a much lesser percentage. The systems found in K. pneumoniae can be classified into I-E and I-E*. The I-E and I-F systems have two CRISPR loci, while I-E* has only one locus upstream of the Cas cluster. PCR primers have been developed in this study for each CRISPR locus. Distinct clustering was not evident, but statistically significant relationships occurred between the different CRISPR loci and the number of spacer units. For each of the queried taxa, the number of spacers was significantly different (p < 0.01) by origin (Africa, Asia, Australia and Oceania, Europe, North America, and South America) but was not linked to the isolation source type (human, animal, plant, food, or laboratory strains).  相似文献

Age-related hearing loss (ARHL), a sensorineural hearing loss of multifactorial origin, increases its prevalence in aging societies. Besides hearing aids and cochlear implants, there is no FDA approved efficient pharmacotherapy to either cure or prevent ARHL. We hypothesized that selegiline, an antiparkinsonian drug, could be a promising candidate for the treatment due to its complex neuroprotective, antioxidant, antiapoptotic, and dopaminergic neurotransmission enhancing effects. We monitored by repeated Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) measurements the effect of chronic per os selegiline administration on the hearing function in BALB/c and DBA/2J mice, which strains exhibit moderate and rapid progressive high frequency hearing loss, respectively. The treatments were started at 1 month of age and lasted until almost a year and 5 months of age, respectively. In BALB/c mice, 4 mg/kg selegiline significantly mitigated the progression of ARHL at higher frequencies. Used in a wide dose range (0.15–45 mg/kg), selegiline had no effect in DBA/2J mice. Our results suggest that selegiline can partially preserve the hearing in certain forms of ARHL by alleviating its development. It might also be otoprotective in other mammals or humans.  相似文献

Material design using nonequilibrium systems provides straightforward access to complexity levels that are possible through dynamic processes. Pattern formation through nonequilibrium processes and reaction–diffusion can be used to achieve this goal. Liesegang patterns (LPs) are a kind of periodic precipitation patterns formed through reaction–diffusion. So far, it has been shown that the periodic band structure of LPs and the geometry of the pattern can be controlled by experimental conditions and external fields (e.g., electrical or magnetic). However, there are no examples of these systems being used to retrieve information about the changes in the environment as they form, and there are no studies making use of these patterns for complex material preparation. This work shows the formation of LPs by a diffusion–precipitation reaction in a stretchable hydrogel and the control of the obtained patterns by the unprecedented and uncommon method of mechanical input. Additionally, how to use this protocol and how deviations from “LP behavior” of the patterns can be used to “write and store” information about the time, duration, extent, and direction of gel deformation are presented. Finally, an example of using complex patterning to deposit polypyrrole by using precipitation patterns is shown as a template.  相似文献
