We contribute in this study a first step in theory-based understanding on how creativity in collaborative design sessions relates to the elements that are present in a creative act. These elements include group composition, objects present, practices used, and previous knowledge of the participants. The context of this study was our search for lightweight methods for technology design with children, which can be used in a school context with large groups, will require as little amount of training as possible, and can be set up quickly. We formed a mixed group, consisting of young children, an older child and an adult, with the aim of involving children in creative collaborative brainstorming during the very early phases of design, so as to come up with fruitful ideas for technology development. We report our process and examine the implications of our results in relation to different elements that trigger and affect creativity in the collaborative design process. Use of Vygotsky’s cycle of creativity as our theoretical lens together with timeline analysis method presented in the paper were essential for seeing beneath the surface of what happened in this complex, collaborative creative process. Our results can be used for further methodological development of creative collaborative sessions, both with children and adults. 相似文献

Recently, there has been remarkable growth of interest in the development and applications of time-of-flight (ToF) depth cameras. Despite the permanent improvement of their characteristics, the practical applicability of ToF cameras is still limited by low resolution and quality of depth measurements. This has motivated many researchers to combine ToF cameras with other sensors in order to enhance and upsample depth images. In this paper, we review the approaches that couple ToF depth images with high-resolution optical images. Other classes of upsampling methods are also briefly discussed. This paper presents the use of commercial off the shelf CMOS image sensors for the acquisition of X‐ray images with high spatial resolution. The X‐ray images, with application in biology, electronic components inspection, and paleontology research, are obtained with 8‐keV photons from a Cu tube. The quantum efficiency of the detector is estimated using attenuation lengths of photons in the sensor and compared to traditional scintillator conversion layers. The terahertz electroluminescence from Cd0.7Hg0.3Te/HgTe quantum wells with an inverted band structure in lateral electric fields is experimentally detected and studied. The emission-spectrum maximum for wells 6.5 and 7 nm wide is near 6 meV which corresponds to interband optical transitions. The emission is explained by state depletion in the valence band and conduction band filling due to Zener tunneling, which is confirmed by power-law current–voltage characteristics. 相似文献

In this paper we present a procedure for the selection of the minimal dc reverse bias voltage of a high-speed optically triggered sampling circuit. The optically triggered sampling circuit is based on a PIN photodiode. A set of expressions that includes the optical power dependence of the current passing through the PIN photodiode is derived. Theoretical results of the procedure are experimentally verified with practical measurements obtained from a 3 giga samples per second (GS/s) and a 20 GS/s sampling circuit implemented with commercial PIN photodiodes. Reductions in the signal-to-noise and distortion ratio of 37.28 and 6.9?dBs, as well as increments in the spurious free dynamic range of 31 and 19?dBs in the sampled signals, are respectively averted by the selection of the minimal reverse bias. 相似文献

Summary (PP-g-DMAEMA)-g-NIPAAm was synthesized using gamma radiation from a 60Co
source. Graft polymerization of N,N’-dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate (DMAEMA) onto polypropylene (PP)
was accomplished in about 100 percent yield by the mutual irradiation technique at a dose of 10 kGy.
Grafting of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) onto PP-g-DMAEMA was carried out by the pre-irradiation method
with doses from 20 to 100 kGy. The influence of temperature, reaction time, and monomer concentration
on grafting yield was studied. Grafting processes were confirmed by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR).
(PP-g-DMAEMA)-g-NIPAAm films were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential
scanning calorimetry (DSC). The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and critical pH point of
the films were obtained by water contact angle and percent swelling measurements. The LCST was also
determined by DSC. We report here hare a new binary graft copolymer which shows two LCST values, synthesized

Quantum dot-hydrotalcite layered nanoplatforms were successfully prepared following a one-pot synthesis. The process is very fast and a priori delamination of hydrotalcite is not a prerequisite for the intercalation of quantum dots. The novel materials were extensively characterized by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, true color fluorescence microscopy, photoluminescence, and nitrogen adsorption. The quantum dot-hydrotalcite nanomaterials display extremely high stability in mimicking physiological media such as saline serum (pH 5.5) and PBS (pH 7.2). Yet, quantum dot release from the solid structure is noted. In order to prevent the leaking of quantum dots we have developed a novel strategy which consists of using tailor made double layered hydrotalcites as protecting shells for quantum dots embedded into silica nanospheres without changing either the materials or the optical properties. 相似文献

The allowable capacity of conventional roof-to-wall metal connectors is based on results of unidirectional component tests that do not simulate triaxial aerodynamic loading effects induced by high-wind events. The results of wind and wind-driven rain tests conducted at a full-scale facility were used to create a database on aerodynamic and aerohydrodynamic load effects on roof-to-wall connectors. Based on these results, three axial mean force components (triaxial mean loads) were combined into a series of resultant mean force vectors. A new test protocol was then developed for roof-to-wall connectors under simulated triaxial loading as opposed to simple uniaxial loading. The findings confirm that current testing methods tend to overestimate the actual load capacities of metal connectors. The performance of a nonintrusive roof-to-wall connector system using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) ties was also tested and compared with that of a traditional metal connector under simulated aerodynamic loads. The test results demonstrated the validity of FRP ties as an alternative to hurricane clips for use in timber roof-to-wall connection systems. 相似文献

Bidirectional power flow is needed in many power conversion systems like energy storage systems, regeneration systems, power converters for improvement of the power quality and some DC‐DC applications where bidirectional high power conversion and galvanic isolation are required. The dual active bridge (DAB) is an isolated, high voltage ratio DC‐DC converter suitable for high power density and high power applications, being a key interface between renewable energy sources and energy storage devices. This paper is focused on the modeling and control design of a DC‐DC system with battery storage based on a DAB converter with average current mode control of the output current and output voltage control. The dynamic response of the output voltage to load steps is improved by means of an additional load‐current feed‐forward control loop. An analytical study of the load‐current feed‐forward is presented and validated by means of both simulations and experimental results. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献
