This paper reports on the performance evaluation of a dental handpiece in simulation of clinical finishing using a novel two-degrees-of-freedom (2DOF) in vitro apparatus. The instrumented apparatus consisted of a two-dimensional computer-controlled coordinate worktable carrying a dental handpiece, a piezoelectric force dynamometer, and a high-speed data acquisition and signal conditioning system for simulating the clinical operations and monitoring the dental finishing processes. The performance of the dental handpiece was experimentally evaluated with respect to rotational speed, torque, and specific finishing energy under the applied clinical finishing conditions. The results show that the rotational speeds of the dental handpiece decreased by increasing either the depth of cut or the feed rate at a constant clinically applied air pressure and water flowrate. They also decreased when increasing both the tangential and normal finishing forces. The specific finishing energy decreased with an increase in either depth of cut or feed rate, while the finishing torque increased as either the depth of cut or the feed rate was increased. This paper describes a scheme for proactive human search for a designated person in an undiscovered indoor environment without human operation or intervention. In designing and developing human identification with prior information a new approach that is robust to illumination and distance variations in the indoor environment is proposed. In addition, a substantial exploration method with an octree structure, suitable for path planning in an office configuration, is employed. All these functionalities are integrated in a message- and component-based architecture for the efficient integration and control of the system. Conventional urodynamics systems have been widely used for the assessment of bladder functions. However, they have some drawbacks due to the unfamiliar circumstances for the patient, restrictive position during the test, expense and immovability of the instrument as well as the unphysiological filling of the bladder. To mitigate these problems, we developed a fully ambulatory urodynamics monitoring system, which enables the abdominal pressure to be measured in a non-invasive manner, as well as the manual recording of various events such as the bladder sensations or leakage of urine. Conventional (CMG) and furosemide-stimulated filling cystometry (FCMG) were performed for 28 patients with neurogenic bladders caused by spinal cord injury (24 males and 4 females, age: 49.4 ± 13.9 years, BMI: 23.5 ± 2.4). There were high correlation coefficients (r=0.97 ± 0.02) between the clinical parameters measured by the conventional rectal catheter and those measured by our non-invasive algorithm in the FCMG studies. Also, 10 of the patients (36%) were diagnosed as having different reflexibility of the bladder between conventional CMG and FCMG (p<0.05). In the patients with detrusor overactivity, the average volume and detrusor pressure at bladder sensation in FCMG were lower than those in CMG, while the average compliance was higher (p<0.05). In the patients with areflexic bladders, the number of patients with detrusor overactivity was higher in FCMG and leakage was observed more frequently. These results showed that our system could be a useful additional tool in the clinical assessment of patients in which conventional cystometry failed to explain their symptoms. 相似文献

Metal matrix composites reinforced by three-dimensional (3-D) continuous network structure reinforcement (3DCNRMMC) are difficult to machine due to serious tool wear and poor surface roughness caused by the brittle and hard reinforcement which interpenetrate into ductile matrix. In order to achieve the approach of low cost of 3DCNRMMC, the machinability of it needs to be understood. The influences of three cutting parameters and volume fraction of reinforcement on cutting force were analyzed in detail. The results indicate that: (1) Due to the brittle phase(s) introduced into ductile matrix of composites, there is a large fluctuation of cutting force causing deterioration of machinability. The fluctuation ranges of cutting forces, initially increase rapidly with the increase of volume fraction of reinforcement and then decrease finally, are largest at the range of the volume fraction of 55–65%; (2) The influence of cutting parameters on cutting force is obvious. With the increases of cutting speed, cutting force decreases gradually unless cutting speed exceeds the value of 209 m/min. Cutting forces increase with increasing feed rate and depth of cut; (3) Owing to the large fluctuation of cutting force, there were some cratered surfaces caused by Si3N4 reinforcement pulling-out and flaking-off. The effect of Pd on the growth rate of metal-induced lateral crystallization (MILC) from Ni seed and the electrical properties of thin-film transistors (TFTs) fabricated on the films crystallized by MILC were investigated. When the Pd metal is placed on the amorphous-silicon/Ni-seed layer, the MILC growth rate is two to three times faster than that of conventional Ni-MILC, without any degradation of TFTs. The scaled boundary finite‐element method is extended to the modelling of thermal stresses. The particular solution for the non‐homogeneous term caused by thermal loading is expressed as integrals in the radial direction, which are evaluated analytically for temperature changes varying as power functions of the radial coordinate. When applied to model a multi‐material corner, only the boundary of the problem domain is discretized. The boundary conditions on the straight material interfaces and the side‐faces forming the corner are satisfied analytically without discretization. The stress field is expressed semi‐analytically as a series solution. The stress distribution along the radial direction, including both the real and complex power singularity and the power‐logarithmic singularity, is represented analytically. The stress intensity factors are determined directly from their definitions in stresses. No knowledge on asymptotic expansions is required. The effect of strain rate on the yield strength of high Nb containing TiAl alloy was studied. The results show that the strain rate sensitivity varies with the test temperature, and the yield strength is not sensitive to the strain rate at room temperature but significantly sensitive to the strain rate at high temperature. An increase of the strain rate or a decrease of the temperature results in an obvious change of fracture mode. It is found that the strain rate sensitivity of this alloy varying with temperature is due to the dislocation climb generated at high temperature. 相似文献
