The present study examined life stage and cultural differences in the degree to which familiarity of one's physical location and interaction partner is associated with daily well-being. Participants reported all the activities they engaged in and how they felt during these activities on a previous day using the Day Reconstruction Method (Kahneman, Krueger, Schkade, Schwarz, & Stone, 2004). Both Korean and American retirees were happier when in a familiar place than in an unfamiliar place, whereas the reverse was true for both Korean and American working adults. In addition, we found cultural differences in the role of familiarity of the interaction partner. Specifically, Koreans (both retirees and working adults) were substantially happier when they interacted with a familiar person than when they interacted with an unfamiliar person. In the past decade finite element simulation has become a very useful methodological tool in the different science fields. This article offers a specific application of this powerful mechanism used for analyzing the mechanical behaviour of constructive elements in the design phase, prior to the laboratory tests’ stage. The aim of applying this simulation is to minimize the high cost the real scale fabrication of these elements entails.This research focuses on the analysis by finite element simulations (FES) of several construction elements used as interior partitions and made of plaster lightened with cork. The results of the study will allow us to determine the most suitable thickness values and proportions to ensure that the requirements stated by the standards and norms for light partitions are fulfilled. These parameters will later be useful for the final laboratory tests.Two simulation groups have been developed using the ANSYS application: firstly, a partition leaf of 200 × 260 cm is studied exposing it to a superficial load and to an eccentric load following the EUAtc common directives for the technical appreciation of light panels, 1973). Second, the behaviour of a panel with a through opening is tested with the simulation regarding the different hypothesis of the structure deformation supporting and surrounding it.Finally, it is proved that the element of thickness 7 cm and proportions stated at the beginning ensure a good performance regarding strain without producing any visible fissures, and therefore are suitable for a further laboratory test on real models. 相似文献

The readback/hearback protocol is a radio procedure intended to reduce communication errors in technical industries. It consists of the delivery of an instruction to a receiver, and the readback of that instruction by the receiver to confirm to the sender that it has been heard accurately. It does not, however, ensure that the receiver has understood the instruction. Using 2 samples within electricity transmission control, the present research explored whether the prosodic cues that listeners use to interpret uncertainty are also used to judge whether a receiver is perceived to have understood an instruction. Rising intonation and filled interturn delays were identified as prosodic cues that operators use to identify nonunderstandings. Environmental management systems based on the ISO 14001 standard rely strongly on metrological measurement and confirmation processes to certify the extent to which organizations monitor and improve their environmental behavior. Nevertheless, the literature lacks in studies that assess the influence of these metrological processes on the performance of environmental management in organizations, even now that the international standard ISO 10012 is already available to establish requisites and guidelines for the development of a metrological management system that is compatible with any other standardized management system. A novel method for dyeing human hair fibres using coloured silica nanoparticles of 206 nm has been developed. Diffusion of coloured silica nanoparticles into hair fibres has been investigated; silica nanoparticles do not penetrate at all, or do so only sparingly, into the structure of Caucasian virgin hair. However, coloured silica nanoparticles diffused readily into bleached hair fibres. Scanning electron microscopy showed that coloured silica nanoparticles were present mainly in the outer regions of the hair structure (the inner layers of the cuticle and the outer region of the cortex). It was found that the silica nanoparticles were physically entrapped in the hair fibres and results showed a good shampoo fastness to washing. 相似文献

Audio-based virtual environments have been increasingly used to foster cognitive and learning skills. A number of studies have also highlighted that the use of technology can help learners to develop effective skills such as motivation and self-esteem. This study presents the design and usability of 3D interactive environments for children with visual disabilities to help them solve problems in Chilean geography and culture. We introduce AudioChile, a virtual environment that can be navigated through 3D sound to enhance spatiality and immersion throughout the environment. 3D sound is used to orientate, avoid obstacles, and identify the positions of various characters and objects within the environment. We have found during the usability evaluation that sound can be fundamental for attention and motivation purposes during interaction. This paper addresses the parameters’ estimation of 2D and 3D transformations. For the estimation we present a method based
on system identification theory, we named it the “A-method”. The transformations are considered as elements of the Lie group
GL(n) or one of its subgroups. We represent the transformations in terms of their Lie Algebra elements. The Lie algebra approach
assures to follow the shortest path or geodesic in the involved Lie group. To prove the potencial of our method, two experiments
are presented. The first one is a monocular estimation of 3D rigid motion of an object in the visual space. With this aim,
the six parameters of the rigid motion are estimated based on measurements of the six parameters of the affine transformation
in the image. Secondly, we present the estimation of the affine or projective transformations involved in monocular region
tracking.
Jaime Ortegón-Aguilar received his degree in computer sciences at the Universidad Autonoma de Yucatan in Merida, Mexico in 2000. He earned his
M.Sc. degree at the Cinvestav in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2002. He received his PhD degree from Cinvestav in 2006. His research
interests include image processing, computer vision, robotics and applications of geometric algebra.
Eduardo Jose Bayro-Corrochano gained his Ph.D. in Cognitive Computer Science in 1993 from the University of Wales at Cardiff. From 1995 to 1999 he has
been Researcher and Lecturer at the Institute for Computer Science, Christian Albrechts University, Kiel, Germany, working
on applications of geometric Clifford algebra to cognitive systems. At present is a full professor at CINVESTAV Unidad Guadalajara,
México, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
His current research interest focuses on geometric methods for artificial perception and action systems. It includes geometric
neural networks, visually guided robotics, humanoids, color image processing, Lie bivector algebras for early vision and robot
maneuvering. He developed the quaternion wavelet transform for quaternion multi-resolution analysis using the phase concept.
He is associate editor of Robotics and Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems and member of the editorial board of Journal of
Pattern Recognition, Journal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision, Iberoamerican Journal of Computer and Systems and Journal
of Theoretical and Numerical Approximation. He is editor and author of the following books: Geometric Computing for Perception
Action Systems, E. Bayro-Corrochano, Springer Verlag, 2001; Geometric Algebra with Applications in Science and Engineering,
