Easily processed, low cost, and highly efficient solar cells are desirable for photovoltaic conversion of solar energy to electricity. We present the fabrication of precursor solution processed CuInGaS2 (CIGS) thin film solar cells on transparent indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates. The CIGS absorber film was prepared by a spin-coating method, followed by two successive heat treatment processes. The first annealing process was on a hot plate at 300 °C for 30 min in air to remove carbon impurities in the film; this was followed by a sulfurization process at 500 °C in an H2S(1%)/Ar environment to form a polycrystalline CIGS film. The absorber film with an optical band-gap of 1.52 eV and a thickness of about 1.1 µm was successfully synthesized. Because of the usage of a transparent glass substrate, a bifacial CIGS thin film device could be achieved; its power conversion efficiency was measured to be 6.64% and 0.96% for front and rear illumination, respectively, under standard irradiation conditions.  相似文献

Numerical simulations were conducted using computational fluid dynamics to evaluate the effect of ventilation conditions on radon (222Rn) reduction performance in a residential building. The results indicate that at the same ventilation rate, a mechanical ventilation system is more effective in reducing indoor radon than a natural ventilation system. For the same ventilation type, the indoor radon concentration decreases as the ventilation rate increases. When the air change per hour (ACH) was 1, the indoor radon concentration was maintained at less than 100 Bq/m3. However, when the ACH was lowered to 0.01, the average indoor radon concentration in several rooms exceeded 148 Bq/m3. The angle of the inflow air was found to affect the indoor air stream and consequently the distribution of the radon concentration. Even when the ACH was 1, the radon concentrations of some areas were higher than 100 Bq/m3 for inflow air angles of 5° and 175°.  相似文献

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies are a cornerstone for reducing CO2 emissions from energy and energy-intensive industries. Among the various CCS technologies, solid sorbent looping systems are considered to be potentially promising solutions for reducing CO2 capture energy penalty. We present an evaluation module for a carbonator with sorbent looping cycle to calculate the carbonation efficiency. The module incorporates a simple sorbent activity model, and the solid/gas balances are constructed by assuming simple reactor mixing quality. By conducting simulations, we examine the variation in the carbonation efficiencies as a function of the sorbent looping operation factors and discuss an optimum operating strategy.  相似文献

This work addresses the kinetic mechanism for the dehydration of D-xylose over the SiO2-Al2O3 solid catalyst, where the formation of condensed products is included in addition to the production of furfural and its decomposition. The kinetic modeling and parametric sensitivity show that the isomerization of D-xylose takes place in the early stages of the reaction, followed by the dehydration of isomers. Accordingly, the homogeneous polymerization of isomers is found to be dominant. The developed model is used to evaluate the effects of operating conditions on the catalytic performance; high temperature and D-xylose concentration guarantee high furfural yield.  相似文献

Bi3Mo2Fe1P x oxide catalysts were prepared by a co-precipitation method and the influence of phosphorous content on the catalytic performance in the oxidative dehydrogenation of 1-butene was investigated. The addition of phosphorous up to 0.4mole ratio to Bi3Mo2Fe1 oxide catalyst led to an increase in the catalytic performance; however, a higher phosphorous content (above P=0.4) led to a decrease of conversion. Of the tested catalysts, Bi3Mo2Fe1P0.4 oxide catalyst exhibited the highest catalytic performance. Characterization results showed that the catalytic performance was related to the quantity of a π-allylic intermediate, facile desorption behavior of adsorbed intermediates and ability for re-oxidation of catalysts.  相似文献

Dopamine (3,4-dihydroxylphenyl ethylamine) is the most significant neurotransmitter in the human nervous system. Abnormal dopamine levels cause fatal neurological disorders, and thus measuring dopamine level in actual samples is important. Although electrochemical methods have been developed for detecting dopamine with high accuracy, certain substances (e.g., ascorbic acid) in actual samples often interfere with electrochemical dopamine detection. We developed tyrosinase-based dopamine biosensor with high sensitivity and selectivity. An electrochemically pretreated tyrosinase/multi-walled carbon nanotube-modified glassy carbon electrode (tyrosinase/MWNT/GCE) was prepared as an amperometric biosensor for selective dopamine detection. For optimizing the biosensor performance, pH, temperature, and scan rate were investigated. The electrochemically pretreated tyrosinase/MWNT/GCE exhibited not only the highest sensitivity (1,323 mAM?1 cm?2) compared to previously reported tyrosinase-based dopamine sensors, but also good long-term stability, retaining 90% of initial activity after 30 days. Additionally, ascorbic acid, a major interfering substances, was not oxidized at the potential used to detect dopamine oxidation, and the interfering effect of 4mM ascorbic acid was negligible when monitoring 1mM dopamine. Consequently, the electrochemically pretreated tyrosinase/MWNT/GCE is applicable for highly selective and sensitive dopamine detection in actual samples including interfering substances, thereby extending the practical use to monitor and diagnose neurological disorders.  相似文献

Coal, the most primitive fossil fuel, has been exploited for ages, and reserves dictate the economies of many countries. Presently, most energy is generated by direct combustion, raising concerns over global warming. Biological pretreatment of fossil resources and generation of alternative green energy can address the environmental issues associated with global coal utilization. Biological coal treatment can produce industrially important chemicals and bio-methane by employing microorganisms able to depolymerize/degrade coal. This review discusses current advances in microbial coal conversion, such as the efforts made to comprehend microbial processes, significant outputs of coal conversion, principle components responsible for coal conversion, and factors affecting the biological processes to convert coal. Development of these biological processes can be a stepping stone for greener coal; however, integration of multidisciplinary technologies is needed to increase the efficiency of economic coal utilization and production of economically and industrially feasible biomethane.  相似文献

TGF-β1 is known to inhibit muscle regeneration after muscle injury. However, it is unknown if high systemic levels of TGF-β can affect the muscle regeneration process. In the present study, we demonstrated the effect of a CCl4 intra-peritoneal injection and losartan (an angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist) on skeletal muscle (gastrocnemius muscle) injury and regeneration. Male C57BL/6 mice were grouped randomly as follows: control (n = 7), CCl4-treatment group (n = 7), and CCl4 + losartan treatment group (n = 7). After CCl4 treatment for a 16-week period, the animals were sacrificed and analyzed. The expression of dystrophin significantly decreased in the muscle tissues of the control group, as compared with that of the CCl4 + losartan group (p < 0.01). p(phospho)-Smad2/3 expression significantly increased in the muscles of the control group compared to that in the CCl4 + losartan group (p < 0.01). The expressions of Pax7, MyoD, and myogenin increased in skeletal muscles of the CCl4 + losartan group compared to the corresponding levels in the control group (p < 0.01). We hypothesize that systemically elevated TGF-β1 as a result of CCl4-induced liver injury causes skeletal muscle injury, while losartan promotes muscle repair from injury via blockade of TGF-β1 signaling.  相似文献

Corynebacterium glutamicum is widely used for amino acid production. In the present study, 543 genes showed a significant change in their mRNA expression levels in l-lysine-producing C. glutamicum ATCC21300 than that in the wild-type C. glutamicum ATCC13032. Among these 543 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), 28 genes were up- or downregulated. In addition, 454 DEGs were functionally enriched and categorized based on BLAST sequence homologies and gene ontology (GO) annotations using the Blast2GO software. Interestingly, NCgl0071 (bioB, encoding biotin synthase) was expressed at levels ~20-fold higher in the l-lysine-producing ATCC21300 strain than that in the wild-type ATCC13032 strain. Five other genes involved in biotin metabolism or transport—NCgl2515 (bioA, encoding adenosylmethionine-8-amino-7-oxononanoate aminotransferase), NCgl2516 (bioD, encoding dithiobiotin synthetase), NCgl1883, NCgl1884, and NCgl1885—were also expressed at significantly higher levels in the l-lysine-producing ATCC21300 strain than that in the wild-type ATCC13032 strain, which we determined using both next-generation RNA sequencing and quantitative real-time PCR analysis. When we disrupted the bioB gene in C. glutamicum ATCC21300, l-lysine production decreased by approximately 76%, and the three genes involved in biotin transport (NCgl1883, NCgl1884, and NCgl1885) were significantly downregulated. These results will be helpful to improve our understanding of C. glutamicum for industrial amino acid production.  相似文献

This paper describes a mixture of fatty acids that is available for temperature‐controlled release of drugs. The mixture consists of two fatty acids with different melting points. At a specific composition, the mixture represents a single melting point of 38–40 °C which is slightly above the normal human body temperature. To demonstrate its use in the temperature‐regulated release, this study fabricates fatty acid‐incorporated polymer fibers containing dye‐loaded polymer particles in their core. Below the melting point of the mixture, it will be in a solid state to restrict the passing of dye loaded in the core whereas the dye can be released instantly through the generated pores at a temperature slightly higher than the melting point. The release profiles of the dye can be further manipulated by varying the amount of the mixture contained in the fibers and the composition of the mixture.
