A new formulation of active contours based on explicit functions has been recently suggested. This novel framework allows real-time 3-D segmentation since it reduces the dimensionality of the segmentation problem. In this paper, we propose a B-spline formulation of this approach, which further improves the computational efficiency of the algorithm. We also show that this framework allows evolving the active contour using local region-based terms, thereby overcoming the limitations of the original method while preserving computational speed. The feasibility of real-time 3-D segmentation is demonstrated using simulated and medical data such as liver computer tomography and cardiac ultrasound images.  相似文献

Municipalities can form a driving force behind the deployment of new telecom infrastructure. While a telecom operator focuses on direct (financial) profits, a municipality is mainly interested in the social benefits for its inhabitants. In this paper, we evaluate a wireless municipality network from both a technical and an economic point of view. WiFi and WiMAX are considered as the most suited technologies for this purpose. A detailed techno-economic study has been performed including forecasting of the user adoption, dimensioning of the wireless network and modelling the related costs and revenues. The trade-off between installing a high number of relatively cheap WiFi access points, and a smaller number of more expensive WiMAX base stations for delivering full coverage is investigated in several scenarios.

This paper describes full cmoscontinuous time filter design techniques which can meet the specifications commonly set for gsmapplications. First several cmosfilter design techniques are overviewed. The ota-ctechnique is discussed to some more detail. To overcome the main drawback of the lower total harmonic distortion in ota-ctechniques very linear operational transconductance amplifiers (ota)are required. Such an ota,together with the applied linearisation techniques is discussed. To fulfil high accuracy in cut- off frequencies of the filter an active tuning system is necessary. A new on- chip tuning system is presented. The paper concludes with a practical design example for the gsmsystem. Therein the different ota-ctechniques discussed are illustrated.  相似文献

A novel method for microcellular communications to predict propagation characteristics is presented in this paper. It takes into account multiple reflections among walls, ground, vehicles, as well as the transmission/reflection due to groups of trees. Although these are three-dimensional (3-D) problems, we can combine two-dimensional (2-D) ray tracing and simple 3-D geometric considerations to solve them in a very efficient way. We have investigated the propagation loss versus size, number, and locations of vehicles and groups of trees on a safe island. Our results show that the radio wave propagation exhibits severe fast fading, attenuation, and blockage due to reflection, transmission, and shadowing, respectively  相似文献

In this work, charge trapping in SiO2/Al2O3 dielectric stacks is characterized by means of pulsed capacitance–voltage measurements. The proposed technique strongly reduces the measurement time and, as a consequence, the impact of charge trapping on the measurement results. Flat band voltage shift and fast current transient during short stress pulses are systematically monitored and the centroid and the amount of the trapped charge are extracted using a first-order model.  相似文献

Large-scale energy reduction campaigns focusing on households generally have two shortcomings. First, an energy reduction campaign is either personalized but time intensive or time extensive but generalized. Second, because only the direct energy requirements are addressed, only 50% of the total household energy requirement is subject to reduction. The other 50%, the indirect energy requirement, is much more difficult to calculate and address and therefore not subject to reduction.

In this paper, we describe a web-based tool that has the potential to overcome both of these shortcomings. The tool addresses direct as well as indirect energy requirements. By means of a simple expert system participants obtain personalized reduction options and feedback on the energy reduced. The tool was tested in Groningen (the Netherlands) with a sample of 300 households, resulting in a direct energy reduction of about 8.5% compared to a control group. The reduction in indirect energy was not statistically significant.  相似文献

Difficulties with harmonization of analytical procedures and consequently poor comparability of generated data represent in the Czech Republic the main reason for the delay in issuing of updated legislation for polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs) in foodstuffs. This study draws attention to possible errors (overestimations) that can occur during routine determination of these residues in the fat portion of biotic matrices. We demonstrate the gas Chromatographic (GC) conditions under which interfering contaminants such as phthalates and/or chlorinated pesticides can be separated from analytes. Discussion is focused on the advantages and drawbacks of GC with an electron capture detector, GC mass spectrometry and GC with an atomic emission detector. Various approaches used for calculation of PCBs contents are compared.
Bestimmung der PCB in Fettgeweben mittels verschiedener Detektionstechniken
Zusammenfassung Das Problem mit der Harmonisierung der analytischen Verfahren und der geringen Vergleichbarkeit der Angaben ist ein Hauptgrund der Verspätung in der neuen Legislative für PCB in Lebensmitteln in der Tschechischen Republik. Die Arbeit beschreibt die möglichen Fehler (Falsch-positive Fehler), die durch die routinierte Bestimmung von PCB-Rückständen in Fettanteilen der biologischen Materialien auftreten können. Es werden die gaschromatographischen Bedingungen beschrieben, unter denen die Interferenzen, wie z. B. Phthalaten und chlorierten Pesticiden, von Stoffen abgetrennt werden können. Die Vorteile und Nachteile der Methoden GC-ECD, GC-MS und GC-AED werden diskutiert. Die verschiedenen für die Kalkulation des PCB-Gehaltes angewendeten Annäherungen werden miteinander verglichen.

Large-grained (100- to 200-μm), yttria-doped, polycrystalline t '-zirconia ceramics were fabricated by heat-treating presintered samples at temperatures 2100°C. Polarized light microscopy revealed the ferroelastic domain structure in the t ' samples. XRD showed that no monoclinic phase was detected on as-polished, ground and fracture surfaces, or on surfaces while under a tensile stress as high as 400 MPa. By contrast, relative changes occurred in the tetragonal peak intensities, which were attributed to ferroelasatic domain switching. The higher toughness of 3-mol%-Y2O3-doped t ' samples (7.7 MPa · m1/2) compared to that of 8 mol% Y2O3 cubic samples (2.4 MPa · m1/2) was explained in part by ferroelastic domain switching.  相似文献
